great food, lousy service. i don't rant often but i have one for today. saturday night i given the task of getting dinner for the crew at a video shoot in east nashville so i went to mitchell delicatessen a place we love. it was not busy, there were perhaps 12 people sitting in the dinning area and we were alone in the line to order. we were informed that 24 sandwiches were too many for them to make. jill and i went outside to consider our options. this took us about 10 minutes and during that time, not one single person entered the deli. i went back in to appeal to patrick's (the guy that waited on us) sense of logic. i told them i would make it worth their effort (ie, large tip) if they would help us out. there are not many options for fast food in that area. he refused again saying they were too busy and the order was too large. (there were three guys making sandwiches.) this is when it got fun. i pointed out to him that they were in fact not busy. i then asked him what he would do if 12 people came in at once and ordered 2 sandwiches a piece? would you turn them away? yes or no? he would not answer the question. at that juncture, i answered for him, of course you would serve them. i asked, "what is the difference?" he just did not get it. i asked what is name was and informed him that i would be talking to his employer (trust me i will) this week. i turned to walk out when i heard one of the sandwich makers say "f you!" now that is service at it's finest!
