the gateway hotel
has been vizag's favourite chinese restaurant for decades now, and rightly so! taj (now gateway) has continued to dish out the best (albeit small) menu from the orient, and the taste has never wavered in all these years of operation.
the 10 and 12 people circular coupes have been celebrating birthdays and anniversaries forever.
portion size is pretty decent. soups and starters fill up a person pretty good. take care while ordering.
and do say hi to anand when you're there. he's been there for as almost as long as the restaurant's been around!

by far the best place to grab some good chinese cuisine food in vizag. nice ambience and hospitality. i reckon if you r looking for a restaurant to host a lunch or dinner, do reserve in advance.

authentic chinese at its best at vizag........................this taj gateway restaurant has a soothing ambience and quiet.......................recently renovated, it provides you privacy and space...........................the chinese tea is nice......................the cuisine cooked to perfection.....................the mixed hakka noodles, dimsums and garlic prawns are recommended.......worth a repeat visit..........................sets you back by about 2500/- for two.........................

7 of us visited this restaurant. we were seated in a room with a revolving table like "russian roulette"
service was too slow but food tasted good.
smoothie was too sour and i vomitted on the way home.
one thing i want to say is : only with "taj" name you will not get anywhere. your service has to be quick too.
either waiters can't seem to understand english/hindi or they just don't care. some items were brought after 2 hrs and that too after repeatedly telling them.
though food is good, we ended up wasting our time and getting angry which is not what we expect in a restaurant.

the gateway hotel
had been there with family recently and was fairly impressed with this place. its on the first floor of the taj gateway hotel and with a terrace overlooking onto the sea. ambience is good though would have liked it to be a little more lit up. service is good and staff is very polite. had chicken hakka noodles and fried rice with a nice basil preparation of fish though i dont remember the exact name of the same. in starters do try the honey chilli potato.
