went along on a no waste monday ($50 per person share plates) for lunch. this place is delightful, beautiful scenery, lovely friendly staff and the chef came out to present each dish. we went 30 mins early to a wine tasting which was unhurried and informative - the sauv blanc and viognier were fabulous.

what did we get for $50? shared appetisers: fresh plucked sweet peas, house made cottage cheese, crackers. delightful. the peas were so sweet and the cottage cheese cool and savoury. my partner’s favourite dish.

smoked mullet from mandurah with fennel and spring onion. this was tasty and the smoked flavour was prevalent. beautiful knife skills.

wagin duck hearts with orange jam. my favourite dish. the hearts were fried to blushing red, juicy and covered in a lovely crispy five spice mixture. duck goes well with fruit, but i didn’t even need the jam, they were that good.

wagin guinea fowl breast with grain salad and local honey. i’ve never had guinea fowl before, it was a tad dry but well seasoned with crisp skin, and the salad was delicious - sweet, warm, savoury with a hint of spice.

berkshire cross pork with pepper stuffed with rice and raisins. this pork was sooooo good. super moist, savoury with a seared crust. i’m thinking it was cured or brined before. yum yum. my normally veggie-preferring partner stole some of mine, it was that good. the pepper was stuffed with a seasoned rice and raisin mix, was a great accompaniment.

main course - a huge plate of confit chicken leg, roasted breast, fried wings (in the five spice mix that the duck hearts came in), beef rib, potato, foraged mushrooms, carrots. this was lovely, a wonderful array of flavours and textures. my only gripe was that the chicken leg was overbrined so it was too salty.

dessert - mascarpone parfait with mandarin curd and cinnamon toast. mmmmm there were brûlée on top of the parfait, which gave it a brilliant crunch. the mandarin curd was ok, i think it’s because i’m not a huge fan of mandarin rather than any technical issues with the curd. my partner liked it.

looking around most tables were getting the same dishes but with varying portions and ratios of meats in the main course depending on the number of diners (due to it being no waste monday!). we left very full and very happy.

i do recommend this place highly, it’s a champion of reducingfoodwaste andfoodmiles and sustainable eating (the veggies, honey and evoo we’re grown or made on premises.

well done millbrook team, we’ll be back.

not the place to take guests if you want to give them the best experience in food. beautiful venue and very nice wines. cellar door staff member was very knowledgeable and made the tasting experience interesting. the staff are lovely and welcoming but...they need a new chef! all thefoodseemed totally devoid of colour (unless you like grey) and tasted as though it had been cooked days ago. i had an entree size rabbit risotto after establishing that main size was large - entree size was tiny - but rabbit was very dry and tasteless. all rather disappointing considering the prices. a great shame as i have been looking forward to going there for ages. if thefoodwas improved and a little more imagination used on the decor in the restaurant, it would be first class.

so for my 40th birthday festival i wanted to include a weekend away with my girlfriends & have lunch at a winery. i heard about millbrook, so planned the accommodation around it... and i am so glad! thefoodwas just delectable, the pate is the creamiest, smoothest i've ever eaten! everyone loved their dishes, all sharing little bits so everyone could have a try. the only 'complaint' was that the chicken dish was more of a curry flavour than chilli as noted on the menu. but that did not hamper our good time. the service was attentive, prompt and friendly. would definitely recommend millbrook!!

the atmosphere and landscape were really amazing but that’s all. thefoodwas tasteless and we waited for the main over one hour... moreover, in my husband’s dish there was a hair. we were looking forward to visiting here a lot, so it was really disappointing. it takes one hour from perth by car and we won’t visit there again... other perth hills restaurants and swan valley restaurants are much better and convenient.

we had a few failed attempts to try this place but finally got there today and glad we didn't give up because what a delight it was! we did the 3 course menu but could've easily been satisfied with the 2 course as the servings were incredibly generous and thefoodspectacular. there were 2 parts to the entree - stone baked bread with butter and pate with crackers firstly, then the menu shared entrees came out - 3 different dishes to share between the table but they had 2 of each dish for a table of 7! we then all had a choice of main from about 6 options - something for everyone there including meat, fish or vegetarian option. we were absolutely stuffed at the end of main but had opted for the 3 courses (pretty sure you can change your mind if you're too full but we thought we'd push on) so we tried each of the dessert options - again all massive serves and very tasty and pretty dishes. my highlight was the chocolate parfait and honeycomb. reasonably priced, efficient and friendly wait staff and a beautiful location. we will definitely be back.

firstly, absolutely stunning grounds with views of the hills, vineyards and lake. a perfect lunch spot on a sunny winter’s day.

outstanding wines, all available in the beautiful downstairs tasting room. the knowledgeable staff are happy to guide you through a tasting of each wine. the viognier was an all round favourite amongst our group.

thefoodmenu prominently features fruit, vegetables and herbs grown on site, carefully selected from the garden daily and lovingly prepared. they are very accommodating towards vegan and vegetarian needs.

don’t forget to grab a jar of house made orange jam or bottle of olive oil (all grown on site) on your way out and of course, a few bottles of wine!

my partner and i dined at millbrook for lunch saturday afternoon. this was our third visit, our last visit was over two years ago. i don’t know why we have left it so long between visits because each time we have dined here it has been a five star experience and well worth the drive from fremantle.

the restaurant is set in beautiful grounds, where you can often see wild kangaroos hopping by. you enter the restaurant through the cellar door where if you wanted to you could do some wine tasting and order some snacks to eat outside on the deck.

the restaurant is upstairs and was very busy this saturday afternoon, despite the business we were never left waiting for long periods in between courses or to get someone’s attention.

the chef is big on sustainable waste free food. most of the produce comes from the kitchen garden and is picked fresh on the day. i love the fact they do a separate vegan menu and it seems just as much thought is put into the vegan dishes as is into the rest of the menu.

although not cheap i think the three courses for $75 is good value for money. in addition to the three courses you get delicious sourdough bread and olives to start, a side with your mains and a granita in between mains and desert.

service was faultless, setting is as perfect as thefoodso it has to be a five start rating for me.

i’d recommend mentioning if you are vegan, or have any other dietary requirements, at the time of booking.

my sister is marrying her partner here in october so we came to try thefoodand have another look around the venue. even on an overcast day the view from the restaurant is stunning as it overlooks the lake and surrounding rolling hills.

we started our meal with the pâté, onion jam and crostini. couldn't fault this course with plenty of all ingredients. next we were given complimentary warm bread with salted butter that was such a nice touch and really tasty.
for mains i chose the rabbit, pancetta and parmesan risotto. very unusual but loved it. the portion was really huge and the meal was extremely filling so did not finish. the only other issue i had was the chef had left large lumps of soft fat from the duck in the meal which i really dislike. my sister had the beef brisket and potatoes. really delicious flavours but not a massive meal in all. special shout out for this meal went to the broccoli!
finally we decided to share two desserts of chocolate moose cake and an orange crème brûlée. the cake as a whole to me tasted very average though nice moist sponge. the crème brûlée on the other hand was really out of this world and not something i would ever typically choose but i was not disappointed

millbrook, set in the tranquil and alluring surrounds of a former orchard in jarrahdale is one of wa’s prettiest wineries – the buildings are striking, the grounds and water features eye-catching. and they have put together one of the most innovative concepts of any winery restaurant – no waste mondays – when chef guy jeffreys allows his imagination to run and producefoodfrom what is left on hand from the weekend, along with fresh produce plucked from their herb and vegetable garden, orchard and vines. there is no set menu, you get what comes from the kitchen – although allowance can be made for dietary requirements – and what outstandingfoodrolls out to the table – along with the chef to explain it all.

native australian ingredients. eating them goes so much further than marron or lemon myrtle: and attending a fervor dinner by chef paul ‘yoda’ iskov teaches you by just how much. these wa based pop-up dining events come with a fierce reputation, one that attractsfooddevotees willing to travel near and far. to eat in a spectacular outdoor setting that pays respect and homage to the traditional land custodians, and particularly the aboriginal elders who work closely with the fervor team.

we visited today for my dad's birthday. they serve a set menu for $75 pp. this included complimentary bread & butter (delicious) followed by choice of entree, main & dessert with 2 side dishes & an extra dessert taster as well. thefoodwas impressive in presentation & flavour.

service was fantastic!!! attentive, professional, no huge wait times either. i felt that i didn't need to worry about how far away our next course was as i have done at other venues. we were served by a tall gentleman with a very posh accent & he was lovely. it's rare nowadays to experience wait staff that do a fantastic job & are informed about their menu. ten points to him!

the restaurant is upstairs & was beautiful with a view over the lake & grounds. nice beverage menu as well. enough choice to keep all tastes (wine, beer & soft drinks) satisfied.

the grounds are exquisite. we took so many photos.

i would highly recommended a trip out to millbrook winery!
