i didn’t know that milano coffee had been in business before i was even born! (can you figure out how old i am? :p) i fell in love with their latte a few years ago and i hadn’t been able to find aplacethat does it better yet! i was so excited when milano coffee was offering a mocha coconut latte, as they were two of my favourite things in a drink.

this was a haven of happiness for us, mainly because we had been deprived of decent caffeine fixes for days. it is hard to come by a decent flat white in canada, but thisplacehas it off pat. strong, smooth creamy with all the memories of home

this is one incredibly spacious cafe! the cost per square footage of rent in gastown is pretty high, so you know they're attracting *a lot* of coffee fiends at this space (assuming it isn't outright owned!).

i am going to say this is hands down the best coffee in vancouver. i am probably right based on the insane amount of awards thisplacewins for their coffee (just look at their wall of gold sealed certificates for evidence -next to the fair trade coffee art installation holla!). they're currently featuring this blend called "velvet" oh my lord it is good!!

just go already, and walk all the way to the back to check out the crazy cool industrial design of this place. love, love, love it =)

as time passes, i see it as much more. the surface impression is bumpy cobbled roads, a greening gassy jack statue and a fussy steam clock: gastown may be known as a historic neighbourhood, even the birthplace of vancouver. to me, it’s a place that represents a crossroads of our residents, like a rolling filmstrip flickering with light at each frame.watch our city’s world pass by: a family riding on their bikes, an elderly asian grandma wheeling her grocery cart to chinatown, a homeless man hunting for discarded cigarette butts, purebred dogs trotting with their owners to yoga class, a tourist group, hipsters searching for breakfast, ladies that will lunch.we’re in one of our favourite neighbourhoods visiting milano coffee – stop 28 in our weekly search for vancouver’s best coffee. i’ve dropped by here many times to buy some of mike’s favourite beans by brian turko: the international award-winning la futura, butter or velvet. what all of those decadent blends have in common: mike enjoys making them into coffees at home. (milano also has two other vancouver locations on denman st. and west 8th, plus a new toronto café.)

having lived in vancouver all my life, i was surprised that i've never been thought of going on a food tour here before. curtis ( foodobyte ) recently started bringing me along to tasting plates yvr which is a food tour put on my vanfoodste r and it literally is like a pub crawl, but for food! the tasting plate adventure this time around was in the gastown area. yay! our registration check-in was at catch 122 . i previously visited thisplacebefore (post here ) and had a subpar experience. however, these three tasting bites were impressive. in the front is this delicious and juicy p ressed confit pork shoulder with smoked potato and pork crackling.  another outstanding item is the house-made tortellini with quebec cheese curd, house-smoked bacon, and soubise sauce. to say it was smokey is an understatement. this tortellini bursted with flavour inside my mouth and i would gladly eat a whole plate of this. next up was the hastings urban farm which promoted hives for humanity's raw honey

music?. niceplacebut wow, horrible music. real hip, urban, downtown, phoney as hell. try some jazz, classical, or anything other than boom boom boom in 4/4 time. sound like german marching music, if you know anything about music. which thisplaceobviously doesn't.

always extremly good coffee!. another favplacefor interesting coffee: all their coffee is careful mixed from different type of beans so the final taste is something really interesting.

this is not aplacefor coffee purist, as they don't carry single estate coffees, but an interesting blend of various beans.
give it a try if you really like coffee.
