as always, the latest visit to mignon is just as exquisite as the first! there's so much praise i want to heap on john and the entire staff for ensuring that every dining experience - from a casual sunday brunch to an intimate wedding reception - goes above and beyond our expectations. the service is very attentive and genuinely pleasant, and the food... i could go on for days about how absolutely perfect the texture of the salmon is, the way the sherry jus makes you fall in love with roasted chicken all over again, and how you'll find yourself mopping up the garlic butter with freshly-baked bread long after you've inhaled the escargot. just make sure to leave room for one of mignon's superb desserts (i don't think you'll find a better crème brûlée in dfw). and with our favorites lining the bar - lagavulin 16 and glenlivet 15 - every sip and nibble is heaven for our taste buds. can't wait to visit again!

simply fabulous..... great steaks at this little french steak house. charming and off the beaten path- far from the ed hardie wearing crowd at the shops of legacy this gem is tucked into residential plano serving some of the best food around. i'm in love and i want to keep it all to myself.

run don’t walk away from this restaurant! this evening was the most disappointing dining experience of my life. while mignon has a superior location and pleasing decor, the food was inferior on many levels. the lobster was served without a shell and appeared mashed down on the plate. very little flavor and a bit mealy. the meat was cold and sort of watery so i suspected it was previously frozen. the potatoes were equally dissatisfying and tasted instant. when the bill arrived and i was charged $99 for the lobster alone, i summoned the manager. he admitted the lobster was frozen but whined he wasn’t making enough money on serving it. he was very defensive and utterly unaccommodating. no apology. no explanation. no good will. worst $200 i have ever spent. blown away they have the nerve to charge $99 for frozen fish!

ran into the grinch this christmas day.  normally i try to read negative reviews instead of just looking at stars, but i skipped it here and regretted it.

i had made a phone reservation for christmas dinner for my family, and was assured by the lady i spoke with that kids would not have to order a full christmas dinner (my kids eat like birds), and that they would be happy to let us order some alternate food for the kids.  well, reality turned out to be a bit different.

but first: poor service.  after being seated for nearly 20 minutes without anyone bothering to check on us or bring us water, i had to get up and ask for it.  i spoke to two of the waitresses, and we got a waiter and some water after that, but when it came time to order he was emphatic that kids must order a christmas dinner, which had exactly one choice of entrée: steak.  i explained to him that i had discussed this when i booked the reservation, so he went to discuss with manager, came back, and told us his answer was "no".

so we asked to speak to the manager (who turned out to be the owner).  and i was floored: right from the start he was surly and rude with my wife, explaining that we had to order the full steak dinner for each kid, even after being told what his employee had promised.  when my wife pointed out that my youngest will not eat steak, he gave us an "alternative": we could order the full-cost meal of chicken and split it between the kids, and said "it's very simple" in a rude voice.  when my wife explained that my oldest did not like chicken, he stepped back, got a look of disgust on his face, and sighed loudly.  tiring of this garbage, i stepped in and explained to him, again, what the lady i booked the reservation had promised, and that from my perspective he was basically refusing to honor the commitment the lady i spoke with, his employee, made when we made the reservation.

at this point, it got almost comical, in a sad kind of way: he became very argumentative and said "what employee?  my brother and i are the owners and the only ones who ever answer the phone".  i explained that i had spoken with a woman, whereupon he insisted in a loud voice that "we don't have any woman working here".  having just spoken with two waitresses who were definitely working there a few moments earlier to get us service after the previously mentioned 20 minute wait, i was rather incredulous, looked at him like the idiot he plainly was, and  asked "you don't have any women working here?".  he replied "no!", at which point i said "screw this, we're out of here", threw my napkin down, and we left, never to return.

other reviewers' comparison of this guy with seinfeld's the soup nazi character were most apt, the exception being food quality: based upon many of the reviews, he actually did us a favor by sparing us the injury-on-top-of-insult of their mediocre food/ultra long wait for food combination (entirely believable in light of our inexcusable wait for drinks); at least the soup nazi had good soup!

in looking through other reviews, i see that basically the same bait-and-switch had happened to another reviewer at thanksgiving dinner: they were promised that they could bring food for their kids, and were treated to the same "you must order a dinner for your kids" routine.  others report being accused of being liars as i was, hostility and rude behaviors as a result of complaints/concerns, etc...for the money, there are far too many excellent steakhouses in the area which actually provide good service and treat customers with dignity and respect when issues are raised to be treated rudely and waste time and money in this place.

disappointed. tried mignon on new years eve. wanted to try somewhere new. had reservations which they seated us 30 minutes late for. waiter didn't acknowledge us for about 10 min after being seated. my husband almost got up to find someone but then the waiter came. food was very average for a $200 meal. very disappointed. should have gone to iii forks or bobs like we normally do. this restaurant was nothing to ever think about returning to

lousy steak, hourlong wait, try bobs steak n chop next time. first time here and gravely disappointed. to be succinct:

1. steaks ordered well done, came back less than medium, in a pool of blood.
2. took 1 hour 15 minutes to get these undercooked steaks.
3. ribeye was so well marbled, it was literally fat with bits of steak attached.
4. no ice, water ever refreshed from the time we arrived.
5. waiter was nice, but was powerless to control the poor service environment.

if a steakhouse cannot handle a full house on a saturday night, it won't be full for much longer.

p.s. i used my flashlight on my steak to check doneness, someone came by and said "that looks medium, how did you order it?" i answered "well done". he said oh well.

too many other choices in a city like dallas for eating out. it's www.bobs-steakandchop.com or www.texasroadhouse.com next time.

i was also pleasantly surprised house cured smoked salmon appetizer. it comes out as a tower and as you pull through the layers, you are greeted with guacamole inside that’s seasoned perfectly.

very good, consistent, low key restaurant. i have been going to mignon's for over 5 years and always had a good experience. if you have never been a few things to keep in mind.
leave young children at home
a good place for a 2 hour dinner
it will not be inexpensive comparable to high end restaurants
ask about the daily specials.
my fiance and i go to mignon's several times a year. our last trip was in july 2013.

they had two burgers: a prime bacon cheese burger and a prime mushroom cheese burger. the word "prime" refers to the fact that these burgers are made with prime beef, the finest quality you can get it the united states. i selected the prime bacon cheese burger and it was served with a side of pommes frites. you know you are at a fancy place when french fries are served as "pommes frites". it just the french word for the same thing, but it usually also indicates that the fries are homemade and fried twice or even three times. i asked for my burger medium rare, because good steakhouses can really cook a burger at that temperature. the burgers arrived in 10 minutes and smelled wonderful. the fries were homemade as expected and they were quite excellent. the burgers had the quality steakhouse tast

fabulous. best valentines day! the weather was nice, so we chose to sit on the terrace. service was prompt and above average and overall my date was very excited to be there. we shared two entrees- the scallops and the filet. both cooked perfectly and extremely tender. dessert is a must when you visit, i recommend the creme brulee. they have a very extensive bar and wine list, will have to come back and see.

glitch... go away!. i am sorry... but when i host a party for 7... i am kind of picky.. i expect 7 entrees to arrive at the same time. when only 6 arrived, we were told that there was a "glitch" in the system. that being... the waiter forgot to punch the same orger twice??? some glitch. so, we all sat uncomfortably until the 7th entree arrived, 20 minutes later... rare... without excuse or explanation... without remose or concern. but... "we will take off your $5.00 glass of wine... for your trouble." pleeeease. unless you have to eat here on someone else's dime, pass like a drew breese 3rd down conversion. this place was arrogant without reason, over priced without cause. it.s a homer dome corner dinier for folks who want to tie one on in plano without the drive to legacy. more power to that crowd, but if you are looking for a recomendation... pass.... !!!!

worst experience ever!!! the service was subpar. it took ten minutes for anyome to come to our table and when they finally came it was a busboy who filled our glasses with tap water that tasted like pond water. when the server finally came to our table he informed us that we could only order off a special ala carte menu which wasnt told to me when i made the reservation. the quality of the food was awful. i paid $42 for a ribeye that looked and tasted like a burnt leather boot. my girlfriend got the diver scallops which were adequate at best. overall mignon was over priced and under sold. if i could give them a negative score i would!
