i go only for the falafel and shwarma. it is the best i've found in town and includes a complete toppings/salads bar. the rest of the foods is unremarkable.

love the shawarma's. the shawarma's are spectacular - never had such a good shawarma. and definately pocket friendly.

a wide variety of tasy items, including a well-stocked to-go case, but the felafel is the star item! made fresh and to-order, with a broad range of vegetable fillings and sauces, it's worth the trip!

this cavernous counter service deli and market with white and black checkerboard floors and bright red banquettes is massive. and even on sunday morning at 11:15am,

world-class felafel. the only think i've ever tried at max's is the felafel and since i don't get there nearly as often as i'd like that's probably all i'll ever try. this is amazing felafel. the felafel balls are formed and fried right before your eyes, and then layered with an incredible variety of toppings into a massive pita sandwich that almost surely will explode before you finish eating, so keep a fork and plenty of napkins handy.

the shwarma is supposed to be really good, too. i'll have to force myself to try one on my next visit.

the middle eastern food. honestly, i don't eat anything other than the shawarmas and falafels so my review is not balanced. the aforementioned items are the best i have had outside of the middle east. the falafel is really delicious and the shawarma is cut off of a rotating spit. the highlight is the salads. the israeli style salads, mostly pickled, are the best i have had in the dc area. yeah, i have been to many others (lebanese taverna, amsterdams, etc.) but i will put this one to the pepsi challenge against any of those.
