the queues can be quiet long (40min wait for you) but some of the best udon i’ve eaten

thoroughly impressed by the udon and tempura here. i hadn't heard of marukame udon before walking past it on vacation, and after seeing the line, i just had to try it. the queue moved much faster than i expected, only a short 15 minute wait! the udon noodles were bouncy and chewy, just like they should be, and the broth was clear, simple, and satisfying - the entire bowl was harmoniously flavourful! i will definitely be back, and highly recommend for anyone in the area.

a few solid tips led us to marakume udon for some freshly made udon noodles. watch the noodles get rolled and cooked in front of you, then add your chosen toppings of egg, tempura and flavourings like chili flakes and wasabi, tenkasu (tempura crumbs), welsh green onions and ginger. although there is a long line, it moves fast, so it was worth paying a visit. so cheap, $5 or less for the udon! amazing udon it is.

this was one of the first restaurants we noticed during our vacation in hawaii as it’s so full packed of customers lining up outside their premises. initially we were tempted to queue but it was just too long for us so we thought why not try on a later time, the line might be shorter anyways the restaurant is just around the corner from our hotel so we can check it always. we then moved on and continued where we are heading for the day which are the waikiki shops. as the day ends we headed back to the hotel and at the same time checked if the queue got shorter to our surprise it became longer, we still did not queue.

i cannot stretch how much i love this place, the service is quick and everyone is nice. just touched down from the airplane, and was looking for places to eat, glad this opens very early in the morning.

cheap and cheerful place. choose from their selection of udon. noodles are freshly made right before your eyes. there’s a great selection of tempura from veggies, seafood and chicken. we tried several kinds. they are all good. located along kuhio. there’s always a queue but turn over is quite quick. you can wait up to 15mins but it’s totally worth it.

definitely get in this place early because during dinner times, waiting lines can go up to 40mins! we came here for breakfast, and honestly, i am not an udon person, but this udon was soo delicious! i had a soft boiled egg with it and it was perfect! the noodles were cooked to perfection, the broth was bursting with flavour and the meat was soft and tender. the prices here are super affordable and there is a good range of seating. service is also very good!

very good noodle and good price. we went there for lunch and not too many people on the line. if you’re not very hungry i’d recommend to have a regular size because they have some tempura as you can pick more food.

wow, the udon noodles are so good! we shared the curry one and had a few pieces of tempura! at $5.25 for a regular bowl of udon, it’s so cheap! we went at like 10.45am so no line!

we got here for a late lunch when the line was reasonably short. the noodles here are one of the best i’ve had and reasonably priced. i also tried the spam sushi which wasn’t too bad. the soft drinks are quite flat though. i would definitely return here for a meal.

the line was ridiculously long! but worth the wait. their ordering system very unique. the udon itself was good! i got the curry udon with tempura, a typical order but the taste was stoll amazing. i’ll definitey come back for more

wow the lines were long! but they moved so fast.
went here twice.
service is super fast and friendly!
and the soup is so tasty! they really nailed the recipe! the self service area has so much unhealthy fried foods to choose from. delicious.
didn’t agree with me in other ways though. 😂

this place always seems to have a line, it’s easy to see why with affordable eats and quick service.  i’m truly impressed by the efficiency and precision of the restaurant, every staff member has a defined role and they operate like a machine from the noodle boiling station, to the order taking system down to to the people who clean up the tables. at one point the order taker announced the line would not move for five minutes as there were no available tables, i found this such a crucial part of the experience as it would be terrible to carry around your steaming bowl of noodles and hunting down open seats.

we loved it. line is long but moves quickly. great udon noodles in flavorful broth with fresh and tasty mix ins. tempura was ok but i recommend skipping it and sticking with the udon noodles and broth.

wonderful place to eat at any time of the day. if you know the right time to go, you wont need to wait in line for long. fresh, easy to order, affordable and delicious! the only problem is the long queue and seating.
