beautiful meal, this cafe makes the most amazing milkshakes, the best i have ever had in my life!! i ordered eggs bene, normal price and an iced coffee which was also nice! the portions were also normal size. nice cafe location, looking out to the beach.

frequent here often. just good tucker with a busy hustle bustle atmosphere, with the views to compliment.

all meals from brunch to lunch a brill.

a typical wellington cafe you must visit. considering how busy it is, the staff do well to keep it all cool & calm.

obviously on wknds be prepared for the wait at the door before you can get your table, but once in you forget about the wait and come back to do the same thing next time.

wow this cafe is amazing and i have been there time and time again. their vegetarian big breakfasts are worth a try! you do need to line up and wait for a seat on the weekends but i think this just shows how good the place really is.

had brunch here for mothers day. was told the wait for food would be a while but we had already assumed it would be. excellent coffees and eggs benedict. kids had good meals. friendly service and happy full diners.

i went there for the first this sunday (since it was re-done). got a seat pretty quickly. not all the staff were as on to it as they used to be, something i used to love about this place.

as for the food, the counter-top cakes and thick-shakes were supreme. the food off the menu however was average. i ordered the halumi and roasted tomato bagel, well the tomato was barely cooked and the bottom of the bagel was soggy :(
my mates toasted sandwich was a bit better, but both seemed a little pricey.

hope they can get back to where they once were.

i visited with my 3 year old daughter on saturday. she loves eggs, so ordered poached eggs on sourbread. the eggs were overdone, hard, and there was not a lot of white to them (the bit my daughter loves the best), caked with parsley. i also ordered the roast kumara & chickpea salad. wasn't anything to write home about, but the coffee was good, and the kiddie hot chockie was a hit with little one. we were seated right by the ride on horse, so that was a highlight but with a wait of around 25 minutes with a little one, it was just a little too long for overcooked eggs. battled with a queue to get in on the way out, so settling the bill was a bit of a hassle. i've tried maranui a couple of times, but i think its just too busy, noisy and cluttered for my liking.

father’s day lunch at alert level 2 so wasn’t surprised that there was a wait to get in. busy vibe in a wet day. had a nice eggs bene and wished i had got the snickers shake which others had. made sure to grab a slice of ginger pear cake to take home. so delicious!

after hearing so many great reviews of this place, i was excited to try it for myself. i had high expectations and unfortunately was a bit disappointed.

i ordered the big bay breakfast, which was a pretty sizable plate but there was nothing extraordinary about it. nothing that couldn't be made at home. my poached egg was also a bit overdone so i didn't get that nice yolk pop :(

my boyfriend wasn't too impressed with his eggs benedict either. small serving, very little presentation to it, and the salmon was rather dry.

coffee wasn't as bad as other places but also wasn't that good either.

the venue is beautiful though, with brilliant views over lyall bay. i'm not sure its worth another trip just for the view though.

oh i duno, maybe their other food is good. but i'm a eggs benedict guy and i really wasn't too impressed by it. small serving on a very thin ciabatta bread. salmon was flaked and very dry but the poached egg and hollandaise sauce was okay. my girlfriends big breakfast looked good though, but her poached egg was a bit overdone. might try again some other time to see if it lives upto to its high rating.

the location is beautiful. however, that is where the hype ends.

the menu is absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. i ordered the eggs benedict and was sorely disappointed with the presentation. i was also surprised at how little hollandaise was on my plate!

we also had the chocolate shake - again nothing too out of the ordinary.

when we went the place was packed to the brim but the service was spot on. they told us a realistic wait time for our food which i highly appreciated.

overall a decent place but wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

always a pleasure to drop into this place. the service is usually spot on, warm and friendly.
the food is always attractive, wholesome and served in generous portions. an iconic cafe, with a well deserved reputation and wonderful views all year round.
