mandarin restaurant - niagara falls

better at playing detective than offering good service. went on a saturday for dinner with friends on my birthday as we were famished and wanted something quick and simple that everyone could enjoy. had a few options, but chose mandarin as we were told dinner was $21 by the hostess and they had available tables.

at the food, which was typical mandarin style, poor quality, but lots of food. some key items seemed to be missing from the buffet during our visit, chicken wings, chicken balls etc.

our real surprise came when our bill arrived. $29 per person, we couldn't verify the price as none of their menus or table settings show pricing. spoke to fred, one of the "owners" who was more interested in who told us the price than actually helping us. he made us wait 45 minutes while he tracked down the hostess and even bothered to check the cameras while we were waiting patiently for him to return.

doesn't he have the nerve to tell us that we are lying and nobody told us it was $21. he eventually demands us to just pay whatever, he doesn't care and storms off. rude and embarassing, but the final surprise was when the new bill arrived with a $21 per person charge... and yes, we were told we had no choice but to pay that amount. so much for being reasonable customers... any other restaurant would have offered us at least a sincere apology for the misunderstanding. restaurants are about service, and food.

spoke to mandarin head office who refused to offer us any additional help but a poorly worded apology letter "on behalf" of their franchise store.

tldr; don't waste your money here. lots of food, but low quality, and if you have an issue, their management will waste your time and call you a liar while giving you a horrible customer experience.

a ton of variety and most dishes are well executed.  the food is regularly swapped out for fresher batches.  the cleanliness of this restaurant is impeccable, and the wait staff is insanely attentive and friendly.

great food and service. i like the chinese and canadian style buffet. nice and clean restaurant, a lot of choices for salad, soup, grilled items, sushi, dessert and ice cream. i love this location also because of the friendly and efficient service.
i'd sure be back and recommend to all my friends!!!!!!!!

great buffet. the chinese food here is superb. approx $35 for dinner and $20 for lunch. the restaurant is located really close to cineplex in niagara square.

another mandarin, this time in niagara, and another good meal. we like the variety of dishes mandarin offers, and overall the quality of the food and service is usually very good. however i did find this evening that there were a couple of dishes that were not as fresh as they could have been; maybe they were slow movers. but i still enjoyed the other 30 things that i ate.

great buffet !! we paid 23$ on a tuesday and we had really great food!! alot of different choices, fresh food and we even got cotton candy !! great dinner at a great location! the interior design is amazing ! you have got to try this buffet , just amazing! !

to much msg. when i was visiting niagara falls i wanted to give the mandarin a try, because i herd it was the best restaurant in niagara falls, well, the food was loaded with msg, so much i thought i was going to explode. if i ever visit niagara falls again the mandarin will not be on my return list.

user reviews. the people here are really nice. there is always someone nearby to get something if you so need. the buffet is really good, though on the pricy side. i enjoyed the variety. the sushi was all cooked fish and veggies, so if you are trying it for the first time, this could be a nice introduction. there would be other offerings if you realize you don't like sushi.

the main downside is if you have a small apetite and decide to go for getting a la carte. the individual offerings are pricy. they have a few good combos. my friend has a smaller apetite and generally goes for the combos. the waiting staff is just not accostumed to getting a la carte orders and prefers to steer clear. the ones that do take your order and then bring you the food, often have quite a few mistakes ready to happen. however, they are always jovial and the service can never be said to be poor.

if you are like me, and would like to have stories to tell from you visit to a place / restraunt, this is the place to go. the waiting staff will almost always do something memorable and make you tell interesting stories later.

excellent service, wonderful dinning atmosphere, best chinese buffet ever. will recommend to friends for sure.

local gem. as a local, i can say i'm very happy to have mandarin in our area. the food is delicious, very tasty. they have everything you could want. noodles, chicken, beef, salad, sushi etc. they even recently added frozen yogurt and cotton candy! this place is always immaculately clean and i personally like the decor, its very cheerful. just tried their raspberry cooler, very good! this place is definitely a crowd pleaser. also very good service, love their hot naps.

another place that accommodated all of us was the mandarin. this one is located out of the main tourist area. i think it was fairly new. the decor inside was pretty nice and it was almost as nice as the headquarters in brampton. i have learned from my ayce ways, and no longer stuff myself silly (most of the time). i started off with some sushi rolls and a plate of random mains. they also had beef ribs, which i thought were the best things there that night. for dessert, i had an assortment of things, including pumpkin pie, but i am still not a fan of pumpkin pie. previous categories: ayce,   beef,   chicken,   chinese,   deep fried,   dessert,   japanese,   pies,   pork,   seafood,   comments: 0 comments close comments no comments yet. add your comments © biteme | free counter | original template design by kevin crafts

excellent. my boyfriend and i love this place. we have gone 3 or 4 times in the last 2 years when visiting niagara falls from pennsylvania. they had hot and cold crab legs and lobster tail on buffet. they keep the food trays full and you never have to ask them to put out more food or bring more drinks. very nice and attentive and speak english very well. a man who said he was part owner went around to the tabes introducing himself, handing out his business card and asked us to let him know if we need anything. this place is also very clean, and no matter how busy it is they always make time to check on you, clear tables and refill drinks, we highly recommend this place and always look forward to eating here.

mandarin an excellent family restaurant. we've eaten as the niagara falls, on mandarin several times with our 10-12 year old aged children and they really enjoy it. they request it as a treat for special occasions. this works well since adults can also get food they enjoy and a glass of wine. we have found both the food and the service at this mandarin to be esp. good; it certainly always seems to be busy. we enjoy the fresh seafood, esp. the crab legs when they are available, the sushi, and the deserts. if you are looking for a compromise that will make everyone happy, mandarin is a good bet.

great food and service. i've been to many mandarin restaurants, and most locations are not that great, but this location was the best! the food was good, and the service was very friendly! would return.

wonderful service!!!. we got there a bit early for the lunch buffet. they took our names down, then we left and went to the mall for about 15 mins. and then when we came back they took us to our seats right away! it was my first time at the mandarin so the hostess explained how and where everything was. when u get seated they give u a warm washcloth and a glass of water with a lemon slice in it. the soda refills are free and also come with a lemon slice. when i got only a few sips out of my water and someone was right there refilling my glass! the service was really nice and the price was right for me and my boyfriend for a valentines day lunch. ( only 35 bucks for 2 lunch buffets and 2 cokes ) and when you are close to being done they give you another warm washcloth. i would definitely go back again!
