this restaurant is usually wonderful, but in the early morning hours i have noticed no one seats you and i have had to wait nearly 15 minutes to receive service. i even watched a patron wait the same amount of time to check out at register. this should be address and corrected.

i thought the food was really bad. sides were canned. sauces were most likely from a (bad) packet mix. chicken pie had almost no chicken. other much better quality restaurants in town are rated at 3.6-4.0, yet mzm's gets a 4.2....? is there just a campaign of employees family and friends voting it up so people will eat there. it's hard to believe that many people seriously think it's that good.

the wait on sunday afternoon is worth it. i made the mistake of going to mama zoë michael's right as all of the area churches let out. so it was about 15 minutes to even get seated, but once we did the service was prompt.
i would avoid the french toast, because for $5.50, you only only get four half-slices of the bread. my fiancee wasn't exactly pleased about that, but other than that one problem, which is now a lesson learned, there were no complains.
i went with the chicken and waffles, because originally being from georgia, it's a rarity to get true soul and comfort food anywhere in this region. i wasn't expecting much but was quickly surprised once it came out.
there was one gigantic waffle, with three pieces of fried chicken that was not only cooked, but also seasoned to perfection. weird thing was, my meal was not much more than my fiancee's. so for me, honestly, it's getting a favorite review because i had no qualms about my meal, or the service. on the other hand, i think my fiancee learned that the french toast was not worth the price.
looking around the venue and seeing what the other patrons were dining on, it became clear that there are a multitude of other options that will solidly fill one's appetite. when i come back, i already know i'm trying the gyro omelet, and i suspect there will be no disappointment.

great all around diner. this is a great locally owned, family diner in the style of cagney's - breakfast all day, great lunch and dinner comfort food choices, fast service at reasonable prices, especially considering the portion sizes. this is not zoe's kitchen (the chain), this is mama zoe michael's.

it is located in an older strip center that is well off the road, and the center is undergoing extensive and much needed renovations - so extenseive that most of the face of the buildings are obscured, and you have to look carefully to find it. but plenty of folks do find it, it can get pretty busy at peak times.

we tried the chicken & waffle (about $9 with a side), and the country fried steak (about $8) which comes with mashed potatoes and 2 additional sides, roll or corn muffin. the waffle is huge, perfectly cooked - nice crust on the outside, tender inside, loaded with flavor. the chicken part of this dish consists of 3 huge fried chicken tenders, which are also cooked perfectly, are tender & moist, and are very tasty. this rivals any chicken and waffle dish we've tried.

the country fried steak, which most call chicken fried steak, was also excellent. the taste was very nice, and the gravy was well done as well. the mashed potatoes were freshly made & smothered in that great gravy. the fried okra was equally as good, and the corn muffin was as good as any - soft & moist, with just the right amount of sweetness. the onion rings were not particularly good, had an after taste i don't care for.

service was very good, time out of the kitchen was quick. the menu is very broad, with salads, sandwiches, fried seafood, spaghetti and other pasta dishes, and a number of dinner plates with chicken, beef, and pork. there are a number of greek dishes available as well. the desserts here are very, very nice.

never again. i went to eat there on my lunch break and will never go back. first of all the waitress was beyond rude. also i asked for water with extra lemon and was told i could only have two lemons if i wanted more i would be charged for a drink. i have never had this problem anywhere else. then i was going to order dessert. the waitress just put my ticket on the table and did not say a thing to me or even look at me. so i waited and tried to get her attention and could never get it. i waited until the line got down at the check out counter and then decided it was going no where to jump in line. there were several people in front of me as well as behind me. the lady working the register jumped to customers at the back of the line and started helping them. the man in front of me was getting very upset (which i don't blame him). so finally it's my turn. i walk up and she says "yes" i just looked at her and gave her my ticket and debit card. her response, " ugh! do you not have any cash?! our debit machine is down!" first of all i don't ever carry cash and i shouldn't be yelled at for it. i told her no i don't have any cash, and she told me that i would have to come back to pay for my meal... i told her i worked on the other side of town and i was only there for work. i later stopped back by and the machine was still down. i have never had such a horrible experience at a restaurant. the whole staff was rude, and the food was bland. i do not recommend eating here.

favorite foods plus variety. mama zoe's serves all those comfort foods - the ones the pricey restaurants don't. the portions are generous and the variety offers something for everyone. the staff always makes me feel welcome and the prices are quite reasonable. yes, the decor is outdated, but i don't go there for the scenery! i go there (three or four times a week) for the food.
one time (out of over a hundred) my meal was overcooked. i told the waitress, and she immediately made arrangements for my dinner to be redone, with apologies. i have never had a problem with how this restaurant is managed.

love this place!. we live very close to this restaurant and we go there quite often. i absolutely love their food., i can't imagine anybody not liking it. we eat there all the time. breakfast, lunch and dinner..my father owned restaurants for 22 years and i find nothing wrong with their food. i love their pancakes,,they use fresh fruit and not the syrup pie filling stuff, they have a huge menu and nice portions,,i have never had anything i didn't like,,their chicken pot pie is awesome and as big as it is still comes with two sides, they have great french fries and tons of veggies, i still can't imagine what the people that did not like this place are complaining about.

this place is terrible. i work not far from this place, so decided to try it out after a few recommendations. i must say i was not pleased my first visit there. the service was not good, and the food was even worse. i ordered the chicken pie and it was terrible. however, i gave it a second chance, and tried the country style steak. the gravy was absolutely horrible! nothing about this place seemed " homemade"..my sides where fresh out the microwave or the box. i will not make the same mistake a third time.

i genuinely enjoyed my experience eating at this restaurant. i went on my birthday which is halloween & the staff was dressed up & cheerful. the food was unique yet comforting. i underestimated the place but they definitely impressed me, from the decor to the food everything was worth it.

i tried but i couldn't do it. we went to this restaurant expecting home cooked food and realized that some people must not eat well at home. we came in the door and looked at the decor and all i started thinking, "when is gordon ramsey going to jump out and start screaming?"-- faded, dated decorations that went out 30 years ago. we were seated in a booth with broken down cushions. even the menu covered in plastic was faded. when i asked for a coke, the waitress said, "no coke, only pepsi." by then, i was waiting for dan ackroyd to start yelling, "cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger!" the soda that we were brought tasted like it had come from a filthy fountain and that was it for us. we could endure no more; we politely excused ourselves before ordering a thing. if this is home style, soul food, my mama must have been doing something wrong.

not worth the 15 minute drive. simply below average breakfast fare. we were looking for a new breakfast hangout. we passed up too many better choices. what i orded looked better from afar but turn out to just a load of bland potatoes.

halloween horror. i have seen the show 'restaurant impossible' and often thought that they must be making that stuff up.......nope. this place did everything that those places do. the decor was dated circa 1988. all of the food was either from a can or pre-packaged. nothing that we had was even remotely close to home-made. the childrens spaghetti portion was more than an adult could eat, so you know they are not making any money on it. i can see this place on that show in a year or two. the one nice thing i will say about it is that the staff was friendly. i had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes which came with two sides (i chose "glazed" carrots and spinach) the brown gravy was worse than a middle school cafeteria, and very obviously from a powder mix. the steak was fine, i guess. the "mashed potatoes" were actually instant potatoes with no seasoning, but no worries there....the sodium content in the gravy powder took care of it. the "glazed" carrots had no glaze and were very mushy, so i am assuming they dumped them out of a can and heated them up, or if i give them the benefit of the doubt, they were grossly overcooked and had no glaze on them. the spinach was undoubtedly frozen spinach that was cooked in the microwave. my wife got the chicken pie. there was almost no chicken in it (this is not an exaggeration). the gravy inside the chicken pie was also from a mix, and was awful. she could barely eat it. actually she just waited til we got home and heated up some leftovers. my 4 and 5 year old daugters got the fried shrimp, which they were happy with (its tough to mess that up) and we got them carrots as well. they eat vegetables very well, since we cook them at home with every meal, and would not eat the gross carrots. we didnt make them, since we couldnt eat them either. my 1 year old got the biggest portion of all with the childs spaghetti. it was more than an adult could eat. it also resembled the school cafeteria food. i have to say that i have seriously lost faith in urban spoon after this experience. its rated at 91%, with over 100 votes. who are these people. have they ever eaten anything besides chef boy-ar-dee raviolis? this was literally the worst restaurant i have ever eaten at. i could not believe we paid for that.
