home away from home. friendly people,goodfood, great service. highly recommend if you just want some wholesome, tasteful southern cuisine. today's choice was smothered pork chops and onions, string beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. gotta get there early though very limited seating but worth the wait.

reallygoodfood and large portions. i had the beef tips and the cabbage and my fiancé had spare ribs and max&cheese. they were both superb. i ate at the bar and the bartender devin gave us outstanding service

this is a nice and agoodamerican restaurant to visit in richmond. they havegoodfood. very few vegetarian options, but there is always a long queue and a wait to get a table here.

mama js is a great local southern soul food hotspot. it is typically packed. expect to wait and be patient. the staff is polite but they are busy. don't be afraid to flag someone down, it's casual that way. ok..now the food. verygoodfried chicken, meatloaf, okra, pies, greenbeens, mashed potatoes. southern home cookin! i did not rate higher because the food does tend to sit out awhile causing it to firm up and lose a little flavor. it appears to be due to merely keeping up with orders timely. perfect place to take your northern friends for local experience.

best catfish i've had in a long time, way better than croakers! hard to believe right? they were bites too :) and the corn bread isgoodif you like corn kernels in it, i just don't personally.

omg!! just left that place.. can you say wonderful! the best service and food ever! thanks lajoy, you was great ! i had meatloaf, mac and cheese, cabbage and yams. it was on point!! my husband had the trout, mac and cheese and cabbage, not to mention that dag gone muffin omg!! we carried out the pineapple coconut cake, and we only got one piece it was sogoodthat my husband and i literly fussed over who was getting the bigger piece lol!! we definitely will be dining there again!!

just like home!. we stopped by just on a whim and was blown away. the hostess friendly greeting at the entrance to the waitress, it was all agoodexperience. the food remind me of being back home on a sunday afternoon. i would highly recommend mama js as your next dinner choice.

10 starz. omg!!! the food was sooogood& reasonable!! our waitress lajoy was on point! i ordered the smothered pork chops, mac-n-cheese & cabbages. everything was scrumptious...we even got a bowl of cabbages on the house. my fiance' enjoyed his country fried steak, mashed potatoes w/gravy & seafood salad oooh did i mention the corn muffins (mmmmmm) the lemonade was even good! i give this 2 snaps up and a twist!! 10stars...we will be back!!
