food overpriced and not worth it. don’t waste your money here and go to kenangan or kata kita instead. the sambal matah they served tasted raw with huge chunks of chilli that wasn’t properly cut. the corn which came as part of the side was also raw. i didn’t have the photo of the egg anymore but the boiled egg that came with the nasi bali rice $25 was utterly terrible with the white bits off during the peeling process, leaving only yolk and a poor excuse of egg white. the $25 portion came with barely any meat and any sides, just mainly a pile of white rice. food may look alright but the taste is terrible. as a former cook, this food is just 😡😡😡.

this little gem blew my mind! the flavours were so tasty and full bodied! stand out dish my me was the barramundi salad. the dish that did not make it for me was the brisket curry (not really a curry) and the soft shell crab.

makan offered a delicious dinner - i can’t comment on whether or not it was authentic though. the chicken satay skewers were yummy and i absolutely loved the crispy duck. the chicken ribs were very tasty too but the sauce was a little too wet. the service was friendly and attentive, and was happy to help us in using up some prepaid cards. the restaurant was spacious and comfortable, and the plates were really aesthetic.

the first few time i was here, food was amazing! but for the few visits i’ve found the taste not as great as it used to be. not consistent. however, i love the pork shanks, prawns, fried rice, and the desserts. good value of money for the portions.

we went to makan for my brothers birthday and had a fabulous time. the service was impeccable and the food was delicious. the beef rendang was the best! the deserts were lovely too. really good value and we can't wait to go back again

food was terrific especially the spicy wings and the rendang! i love the rendang but would love it more if it's a little moister. with the wings, i have no complaints and that's the best dish. the pork hock was well seasoned but i would have liked it a little more if there was more sambal matah. it's a huge hock with quite little sambal matah.
our table waiter was really helpful to tell us all about the menu and the specials for the night. she was quick to solve our table issue as it was shaking as we eat. one of the waitresses (not our table waitress) was a little rude when we were paying but that's okay cause the food was good enough for us to disregard that. overall a great evening!

beautiful beef rendang but the other dishes we tried were very ordinary - especially the nasi goreng. wait staff varied from really helpful to officious. nice enough meal but in melbourne that is not quite enough fir me to return.

i have dined here twice. the first with just a friend, the second time with a party of 10. both experiences were great with delicious food and amazing staff. a shout out to one of their servers, luke. very experienced and goes the extra mile to make you feel welcomed at the restaurant!

i brought my family here about 6 months ago ( i forgot to write this review before but only remember to do so now). food was subpar. one of the dishes we ordered was the kangkung belacan, to my surprise when i lifted a piece of kangkung it was filled with black ants. when i told the waitress about this, she took it very lightly and showed no interest. all she did was return the dish to the kitchen for it to be re-cooked. i left this restaurant feeling appalled and don’t think i’ll be returning here in the near future.

come here if you’re craving for indonesian food. absolutely love their ambience, service and food (especially their eggplant balado and duck). they have great drink and dessert selections as well!

hidden down a laneway and run by reality tv show winners, the restaurant has a late night cool hangout vibe but with food you crave at your mum’s house. the chili-tamarind chicken wings were to die for and i was scraping every last drop of the glaze off the plate. the grilled chicken betutu and toasted banana dessert were just as good and i was so happy to see the cheddar cracker in a sweet dish cause it just works. if you want a place where you enjoy every single cent worth of food, eat at makan.
