i've lived in thailand and this is the closest to authenticpadthai i've had. their other dishes are amazing- love the massaman curry and they have an array of tasty appetizers. dine in experience is also nice- staff are friendly. highly recommend!

best thai food in winnipeg. i've tried them all and this is the best! i love the value you get at magic thailand. two people can leave stuffed, having drank a half litre of wine for under $60. i love the eggplant curry andpadthai, just be warned that getting a 10 out of 10 is insanely hot. i would recommend a five and then spice it up yourself at your table. last time we had both dishes in a ten and i couldn't even eat thepadthai it was so spicy, yet the eggplant curry was manageable. the rice paper rolls and crag rangoon will blow your mind as starters. best food and value! love this place :)

70%. we finally made it to magic thailand after hearing a lot of good reviews. the restaurant was crazy busy and seemed disorganized in that the servers were carrying out only one plate at a time and one server was wearing open toe sandals which is not sanctioned by the health board. we ordered thepadthai and the seafood stir fry. the stir fry could have done with more shrimp and mussels than calamari but tasted quite spicy on a 5. thepadthai was good but the restaurant uses the vermicilli noodles and the dish could have used more shrimp.

one of the servers did by accident put down a dish on our table that looked like green curry soup and it looked delicous! unfornately, the server was also too busy to tell what it was. as for the shrimp; what it up with leaving on the tails!

i would give our visit a 7 out 10 and i maybe back for green curry soup ( or whatever it was)

i dined here friday night for the first time. my friends suggested it as it is their fave - and i can see why. the restaurant was busy, and the service was attentive. the spring rolls were delicious, especially with the peanut dipping sauce. mypadthai was good, but the panang curry with chicken was outstanding. absolutely perfect with the right amount of spice. the location is not the most convenient for me, but i will try to make it here again soon! loved it!

went here for dinner tuesday night. i was surprised how busy the place got. the building is cared for quite well in comparison to its neighbours and neighbourhood. the food was quick, hot and delicious.

our appetizer was the spring rolls and thai peanut sauce. for entree, we had the chicken fried rice which was flavourful without being greasy and the shrimppadthai. we ordered "not hot", which was a mistake on our part. while flavourful, we should have had the hot as it was too plain.

the only detriments were the hands off service and the neighbourhood.

one of the best thai places in winnipeg. if you like thai food or are looking for a great introduction to it, make sure you head to magic thailand. it's definitely an unassuming little place in a less than desirable area, but the food is so good. i've tried thepadthai, red coconut curry and green coconut curry, and they've all been amazing. and the crab rangoons alone are worth the trip. the spice-index can be a little different depending on the day, though... i've ordered a "4" that barely had any heat and also a "4" that practically melted my face off.

not bad.. walked in on a friday night around 7. was definitely busy, but we were not even acknowledged by any servers for about 20 minutes even though they walked by us multiple times and we tried to get their attention (they purposely averted their eyes/turned away). did get our food (an appetizer, coconut soup, andpadthai) fairly quickly, although we asked for rice and never got any (and gave up trying to flag down the server). i was also quite disappointed at the portion sizes (very small for 2 people to share). the food was good, but not sure it was worth the wait/price.

tasty!. the dishes we ordered reminded me greatly of when i lived in thailand and would eat on the street with the locals. thepadthai is extremely tasty with tons of flavours. their soups such as the tom kah gai and tom yum are very delicious, packed with veggies. our favourite was the eggplant curry which is one of the best thai dishes i've had yet. i highly recommend this place!

small portion sizes. i went to magic thailand for lunch and ordered the matsaman curry with chicken (#40) and thepadsiew (#45). the food came out very quickly. i was disappointed about the smaller portion sizes and that dishes, like the curries and stir fries, don't automatically come with rice, but are extra. the matsaman curry had a nice coconut, spiced sauce, and at level 8 (out of 10) was not too hot. it was a good dish. unfortunately, thepadsiew, which is rice noodle dish similar to a ho fan in chinese cooking, was lacking in noodles. the few noodles that were in the dish were all stuck together. the soy sauce coating on the vegetables and noodles was too thick and salty that it was not very enjoyable. this was my second time at the restaurant and the first visit 2 years earlier was much more pleasant than this most recent visit.

fantastic!. i hate to use the cliche, but this truly is a hidden gem. the storefront doesn't look great and i'm told neighborhood is intimidating to some (though i used to work in the area and never felt unsafe during daylight hours, so don't be scared!), but the food is worth it.

my usual set of dishes ispadthai with tofu, green curry vegetable, vegetable rice rolls, and the green curry soup. i've had thepadthai and green curry with various meats when not sharing with vegetarians, and the dishes are great either way.

thepadthai tofu used to come as quite-firm triangles, but they've moved to a softer tofu with a rectangular cut. this detracts from the dish a little, but probably only for those who remember the original.

if you can, sit near the fish tank for some meal-time entertainment. the service can be very hit or miss (even with the same staff!), but thankfully more hit than miss.

if you're feeling adventurous after your meal, walk up tecumseh to henry then east a bit and up along the rail yard. there's plenty of great rail-era buildings to see.

so delicious. this place was awesome and i can't wait to go back. ordered the fresh spring rolls (with chicken) which were really good. also got the potato and chicken curry which was incredible with the jasmine rice. however, i was really disappointed in thepadthai. i'm a huge fan of it normally but i had a bite or two of this one and just did not like it. the nice thing about this place is that you can choose how spicy you want your food on a scale of 1-10. we went for a 7 which was very spicy, and i love spice so that's saying a lot. we joked that next time we'd scale down to a 6 but by the time we were finishing our meal (which seemed to get spicier and spicier with each bite, haha) we said we'd for sure go down to a 5 for the next time. i really want to try the coconut curry soup the next time i go.

favorite thai resaturant. i've passed by magic thailand on several occassions before venturing in. it doesn't have the best appearances inside and out but they make that up with their food.

i've had the green and red curry - yummy and one of our go too dishes. our favourite is the tom ka gai coconut soup. the brooth is rich and thick and the fillings are plenty. we usually order a side of rice with it and treat it as a stew. matsaman was okay and only had it once and i found it salty. the panang is good but comparing it to champa in ottawa, it's different but still good.padthai is more tamarid based sauce and also good.

i can't complain about the service may it be take out or dine in.

don't let the exterior, location or decor deter you...it's a must try!
