tasty flavourful affordable thai. unlike some other thai place, you can tell the difference between matsaman, panang or red/green curry here. they have different distinctive flavours. pad thai is alright. i love the stuffed wings with peanut sauce. this is my regular thai joint. after my 10+ visits, i've never been disappointed.

first time trying - will return. my wife and i decided to try magic thailand because of the good reviews on urbanspoon. we opted to try serveral disheses (takeout) so that we could have leftovers.

below i have included my feedback on each of the dishes;

1. red curry coconut soup (chicken): this soup was outstanding. a generous amount of good quality chicken. the flavor of the soup was really good. i will order this again.
2. green curry (chicken): excellent flavor to the green curry. the last comparable green curry i tasted was at a highly regarded thai restaurant in vanouver. medium heat was enough for me and i like spicy. another dish that i would get again.
3. cashew stirfry (chicken): this was my wife's favourite dish of all the dishes that we ordered. i enjoyed the flavour of this one as well. although we ordered medium spice, this dish was less spicy than the others. if you like spicy, you may want ask for more spice to this dish than what you usually do.
4. peanut sauce and bok choy (beef): i really enjoyed this as well. it was a nice mix up from the more spicy dishes and a good change in flavour. i would order this again for sure as well.
5. lettuce wraps (shrimp): good portions, but my least favorite of all the dishes.

overall this is an exellent thai restaurant. i have tried others in winnipeg and many in vancouver and magic thai is definately up at the top with the best of them. the service was good as well. the staff at the counter were very friendly. the timeframe that they gave me for pickup when i ordered over the phone was perfect as well. i would recommend this restaurant to others.

one of the best. as with so many great restaurants, the decor and location often mask a hidden gem. magic thailand is one of these gems. the best thai in winnipeg, bar none.

ok food. there thai food is ok but doesn't stand out from the rest. i found vanxai's lao thai to be my favorite thai food in the city, and one of my favorite places for food in general in the city.

amazing thai food! magic thai is a gem hidden away in a rougher, industrial neighbourhood. do not let this discourage you, the restaurant is always packed. this is the cheapest thai food i have cone across in the city. the green curry soup is unreal. i haven't had something here i didn't like. quick and friendly service to boot!

the real deal. ate there for the first time on monday, was surprised to see 4 other tables eating at 1:30 in the afternoon. bobby x told me they had great thai food and he was correct. only had 3 dishes, pineapple stir fry(#2), pad thai (#8) and jasmine rice; everything was excellent. decor could use some work.

greeeeat curry!. i love their green curry - very good! yum yum yum.
they have delicious chow mein noodles too but it's nothing to write home about. it's slightly better than chinese takeaway noodles.

everyone else was satisfied with the meal, the crab rangoon is good and so is the coconut jasmine rice. delicious! the server we had was friendly. only thing i don't like is the gaudy ambiance... i get it's relics from thailand but it makes the restaurant look dated. the washrooms are also kind of gross but if you can get past that and go for the food, you'll like it here. :) a north-end/central/west-end gem for sure.

i can't get enough of the red coconut curry soup and the lettuce wraps are a good way to set the tone for dinner. don't let the mildly sketchy location put you off, and be forewarned lunch gets busy so come early.

delicious!. i recently went to magic thailand and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. to start my bf and i shared the wonton soup with pork dumplings. the homemade dumplings were flavorful and yummy and the onion-scented broth was delicious too. next, we had the green papaya salad which i have never tried anywhere else before. while it sounds unusual it was very good and refreshing. i ordered it at a spicy level of 3 which gave it some bite (i don't eat spicy too often). the salad consisted mainly of the shredded papaya (which has the same texture as a shredded apple) with tiny pieces of tomato and cashews on top, in a lovely vinegarette style dressing. for the main course i had the pineapple stir fry with tofu which was very flavorful. my bf had the pat thai with beef. i sampled his and everything was great about it from the noodles to the beef pieces to the sauce. the food came out quickly and was hot and delicious (well except for the salad of course). for the soup, salad, and two dishes (no drinks) it came to only $34 which i consider extremely reasonable considering i had leftovers too! there was definitely other items i would have liked to try and i definitely will be back!

great panang!. their mushroom panang was the best i've had in town yet. the pineapple stirfry wasn't my cup of tea, but i've never liked sweet stirfries. i'm looking forward to eating there again.

best thai in town. get past the address & try this place if you like authentic thai food. you will not be disappointed and likely become a regular. flavors are off the hook. nice serving staff and owners. amazing food. try the geen curry!

great thai resto. the decor is not their strength, but the food is amazing.

magic thailand is amazing. it literally inspired my husband and i to go to thailand for our honeymoon. caution though, if you eat here, you will crave it!!! make sure to try the stuffed chicken wings!
