their ice-creams are not bad, i just really don’t like one of the cashiers in this shop being dishonest to me about the loyalty card and she still owes me one stamp! she said kid’s scoop doesn’t get a stamp but the other cashiers said it gets and it is also written on the loyalty card that collect 7 stamps after buying any ice cream scoop or sundae and get 8th one free. i live nearby and i am a regular guest, that’s why i was interested in collecting stamps. and i think they should mention the promotion to any customer since it is going on. but if they let me feel uncomfortable, i would probably go a bit further tovillageicecream as i heard it’s the best in town!

i had the roasted strawberry buttermilk and the sweet taber corn blackberry on a waffle cone. i found it to be less creamy and flavourful thanvillageice cream and the waffle cone was really really sweet (too sweet for my taste). i also found the service to be so-so, not as friendly as other ice cream place in the city. the sundaes are very "instagrammable" though.

cute little shop with pretty good ice cream. looong line though. i guess that is to be expected on a hot saturday afternoon! i got a scoop of toasted coconut mango (a vegan ice cream) and lemon curd blueberry. coconut was okay, didn't blow me away, but the lemon curd blueberry was pretty delicious.... sooo refreshing! i do prefervillageice cream, but this place is a solid option for artisanal ice cream in yyc!

another ice cream place in calgary that i’ve been wanting to try, made by marcus, is right on busy 17th avenue. i’d put them on the same level asvillageice cream and fiasco gelato. i’m jealous how there’s so many quality ice cream places in town. couple seating areas to sit inside and out but you’ll have to be quick to snag a spot. lineup is a continuous stream of people coming to get their ice cream fix.

after seeing the crazy line up this place usually has, i figured it must be something really special.
and it was good, it definitely was tasty. i tried the blueberry lemon curd, which was quite refreshing though honestly a bit too tart about half way through. more blueberry and less lemon would have been a bit better balanced i feel. but i did find their house made waffle cone a bit hard (honestly i'd probably have liked it just fine, but when directly compared tovillageice cream's waffle cone it just wasn't as good). the ice cream itself had some little icy flakes in it too.
it's right down the road from me, so come summer time i'm sure i'll give them another chance.

we dropped by this ice cream shop on a saturday night, and despite the fact that it was pouring cats and dogs, there was a long lineup of customers extending outside - a good sign of something special. the flavours are unique and different from what i've seen at other ice cream establishments. the sundaes looked yummy, especially the happy camper, which appeared to come with a toasted homemade marshmallow. on our visit i decided to go with a single scoop of the hazelnut praline in a waffle cone. prior to choosing this flavour i tried the dulce banana walnut; unfortunately the banana flavour didn't taste like real banana, but rather the synthetic kind. the hazelnut praline was good, but the texture was slightly grainy and not as creamy. the waffle cone was good, i just wished they could have folded the end so the ice cream didn't melt through. prices however are amazingly reasonable. i was shocked by how much ice cream you get in a single cone for $5, way more than village... honestly though, i still prefer the mouthful ofvillageice cream, and feel it is more superior in quality than any other ice cream shop in calgary. but made by marcus definitely has something going for them with their unique flavour combinations and good prices. i'd return to try some of the other flavours, and maybe that yummy looking happy camper sundae.

after hearing a lot of hype about this ice cream a couple friends and i decided to go to made by marcus this evening! it's located on 17th ave, there are a few parking lots around the area so parking was free and not too difficult to find!
the store itself is small and compact, only one long table to eat at and a couple patio tables located outside. the store has a variety of unique ice cream flavours such as toasted coconut mango, passionfruit basil, monogram espresso flake and many more!! i chose cookies n cream as shown in the picture. ice cream is $5 for one scoop and that was plenty. there was a long lineup once we received our ice creams and since the table was taken by a large family we had no choice but to leave the store. we just decided to walk along 17th ave with our ice cream! the ice cream is delicious and extremely creamy, in my opinion much better thanvillageice cream. the cones are also very good and have a really sweet flavour, a brown sugar cone is offered for an additional $1.
overall, i would definetly come again and try out the different flavours and i recommend you all to check out this new ice cream store, it's worth the try and you can never go wrong with ice cream! :)
