wonderful food. i'll start out by saying the service was good, the atmosphere unique- charming in that it shared its space with an "antique" store, with just some wrought iron fencing separating the two. white table cloths, classic understated elegance. however, the key here is the food. it is gourmet to the extreme. there is a grilled tenderloin and a baked chicken that are fairly basic with typical veggie and starch, but the rest of the menu is very ambitions, and hit the marks as far as i can tell.
i really loved the shrimp cocktail- but wished for a couple more shrimp. the crab cake and the tomato bisque were also excellent- best i have ever tasted.
as for the entrees-
i had chocolate, chile, and coffee rubbed beef tenderloin with white cheddar polenta, black bean relish, veal stock reduction, chile oil and roasted banana and found no fault in it.
my son tried the more traditional grilled filet of beef tenderloin with roasted garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and veal stock reduction and said it was excellent.
my wife had the tenderloin 3 ways: crushed avocado with soy-jalapeno-ginger sauce, chocolate-chile-coffee rubbed with polenta and bean relish, and black bean risotto with chile sauce- which she said was excellent.
james' girlfriend emily had the roasted and grilled chicken with mashed potatoes, green beans, oyster mushrooms and smoked onion butter sauce and she seemed to enjoy it.
about 4 glasses of a wonderful "special menu" piniot noir were relished.
i would go back in a heartbeat.
