mostly a hit but on some occasions slightly off target!. i have eaten at mac's many times! i love the beer selection, both on tap and bottle. their are like 100 beers served here, which also include high gravity beers. the atmosphere is always good. flip a coin...the wait staff can be either friendly or sarcastic depending on which side the coin falls on.
i usually go there for the beef brisket and pulled pork. most of the time both are very tender and i especially like the bbq glaze on the beef brisket. i have been there on some occasion where the beef brisket is a little over cooked and the pulled pork is dry. i would recommend calling them and asking the staff when is the best time to get the brisket because it is slow cooked and if you get it just right, then it is to die for, a minute later and your like...is this rubber i am chewing on. tell me how the wait staff responds when you call to ask them when the best time is to get the freshest most delishes brisket, that is if they don't hang up on you before you get a response. lets start a trend
i don't particularly like their tobasco infused fried pickles and i actually love both fried pickles and tobasco, but for some reason together it tastes a little off. let me add the tobasco at my own discretion ladies and gents.
the boston baked beans are good. the sweat potato fries and pretty much all the rest of the sides are excellent like the collard greens and the mac n' cheese which is that thick southern style. if you like it hardy...you know the kind of mac n cheese that will fill that gutt and make you want to unbuckle your belt and put your hand down your pants like al bundy from married with children, this is the stuff dreams are made of.
