i have visited nainital thrice in the last two years and everytime i visit nainital, having chinese at machan is a must.
their chinese food is good considering a foodie like me who is bored of having north indian food in lunch and wants to try something else to satisfy his/her craving for chinese.
to begin with, they have good variety of soups consisting of the traditional cream of tomato, mushroom, etc to the authentic chinese ones like manchow, lemon coriander, wonton, etc. in a weather like that of naintal’s, their soup is a perfect way to relax your mind and body.
however, i prefer having the chinese options in soup but its totally dependent on ones taste what to order. overall the soups are good.
moving to their starters. they have a good variety in their menu to choose from. they have north indian veg/non veg starters, chinese veg/non veg starters, pastas, etc.
these are good value for money considering the taste and the portions. we hadorderedpaneer tikka and crispy chilli veg and both were delicious.
i was a bit disappointed with the maincourse this time. we hadorderedveg fried rice, which was way to oily. we hadorderedmanchurian and kung pao vegetable in the curries. manchurian was ok but the kung pao vegetables were a total blunder.
i have tried kung pao at a number of chinese restaurants and am well aware of the taste of kung pao, no way did the taste resemble that of kung pao, it was like u were having boiled veggies in a bland sauce.
i would request machan to concentrate more on improving their less moving dishes like kung pao veg, etc so that foodies like us are not afraid of ordering random things from the menu.
