best service. i had my first meal atluxebistro a couple of years ago and my family has been returning there for special occasions ever since. we have never had a single bad experience with the food or service. just last week we dined for our grandmother's 75th birthday and she was treated like royalty: the waitress even brought out a huge beautiful dessert that was enough for the four of us to share.

although tiny, theluxebistro patio is the perfect ambiance for lunch on a summer afternoon in ottawa's byward market. burgers & frites are my usual go-to, however i recently decided to give their beef tartare a try and i was not disappointed.

i'll be honest. i'm not a huge breakfast food person but there's something about any eggs benedict that makes waking up early that much easier. i ordered the fancyluxebenedict: lobster, asparagus, hollandaise, and chives. it's essential to get all the elements of the benny on your fork for each and every bite. this combination was delicious, though i wouldn't mind a slightly richer hollandaise as this one was thin and light. still yummy. the baked beans were tender and sweet. benny, benny, benny!

luxe is a steakhouse located in the byward market in ottawa. not too long ago, the restaurant implemented a brunch menu available only on the weekends. i usually do some research about a restaurant before going.luxehas an extensive yet attractive brunch menu. some items are classics, some are innovative - steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, breakfast poutine. there is definitely something for everyone.  i opted for the lobster egg benedict with a side of latkes. it comes with two perfectly poached eggs, buttery lobster chunks, crisp asparagus, velvelty hollandaise sauce served over toasted english muffins. the potato hash was a bit of disappointment. as you can see in the picture, you will notice a few burnt strands of potatoes that give an unpleasant bitter taste when eating it. however, the potato latkes are amazing. they are soft and pillowy. the taste of potatoes is noticeable. i don't know much good brunch spot around the byward market.luxeis a definitely worth a visit.luxe47 york st. ottawa, on k1n 9j6 613-241-8805 http://www.luxebistro.com/

i finally went toluxelast night with my boyfriend for a long overdue date night. it was very busy but they took us last minute anyway and delivered perfect service! (thank-you ali!)
loved the tuna crudo and had the scallops for dinner. ill be back :)

ria is the reason i will come back - today i had not as nice of an experience in terms of dinner but ria made my night. my girlfriend and i will always come back toluxe- as long as ria is working. she was fantastic and took care of us even though she wasn't our server. she saved our opinion of this place!

amazing amazing amazing. a friend and i shared the fish tacos for an appetizer and they were fantastic. we then decided to also split our entrees to try more of the food. we had the southern burger (with avocado and jalapeños) and the seared tuna burger. this was honestly the best meal (or meals, rather) i have had in ages. the tuna was perfect and tender, the flavours were perfect in all of our dishes, and the wine list definitely made me smile! i had amazing service, amazing food, in a great atmosphere, and i can't stop raving about it! i recommend this place to anyone who appreciates great food and service.

located in the byward market,luxestyles itself as a blend of steakhouse and french style bistro. in my opinion, it is neither, especially not at lunch.luxedoes offer 6 different cuts of beef on its dinner menu, with an interesting selection of sauces and side dishes. but at lunch time, the selection is reduced to two very specific cuts (...) overall, for $20, le steak-frites deluxewas a good choice. we both enjoyed our meat and, also importantly, the service, which was efficient and courteous.

gave it another try.... i revisitedluxeafter having been underwhelmed previously. this time my dining partner and i both ordered caeser salad to start, the salad was good with nice pieces of real bacon. it's the kind of salad that almost has to be cut with a knife because the lettuce pieces are so big.
for our mains we each had a steak, one 8oz and one 12oz. i had the buttermilk mashed potatoes which were creamy and tasty. the steak comes with a "complimentary" sauce so i had the red pepper compote, which was quite peppery (like peppercorns). my bf had the frites with au jus which was good.

the service was prompt and courteous.

something is missing.... had dinner atluxea few weeks ago on a friday night. i was out with my boyfriend for a late dinner. we hadn't made reservations anywhere so we had to wander around to find an available table. we went to two other places before landing at luxe. should have tipped us off, every other restaurant was pretty well packed andluxewas half full.

there was nothing particularly wrong with the service or food it was just missing something. we each ordered the organic greens to start, too many walnuts and not enough goat cheese. the dressing was "meh" nothing to write home about. i had the french onion soup, and again there was nothing wrong with it but it was missing something.

overall, uninspiring.

don't know where the criticism are coming from. my wife and i ate atluxeand we found the food and service to be exceptional. our only problem was that we couldn't eat more! i fully recommendluxebistro.

terrible service. we sneer atluxewhenever we walk by. yes, that bad.

apparently, deciding not to have an aperatif is a sign that we're cheap dinner guests, so the servers can ignore us and treat us disdainfully when they do happen by. too bad for them we were a pair of professionals celebrating a birthday and just didn't feel like the extra drink -- could have been a good tip. too bad for us we decided to go there in the first place.

amazing byward market restaurant experience!. i went toluxebistro for the first time on friday night and i loved everything about it!
not only is the extensive wine list extremely impressive; but also the food was delicious.
my boyfriend and i both ordered the 10oz steak with smoked shallot butter, served withluxefrites and chive aioli; and for dessert we shared the chocolate peanut butter mousse with a caramel filled chocolate shell, it was mouth-wateringly good.
i can't wait to go back and try the lobster poutine, which our server also recommended as being one of their most popular items on the menu.

great experiences over and over.... i have been toluxebistro several times with my friends, yet to find a reason to dislike it. each time, i was adventurous and tried a different dish off the menu. although i don't treat myself to red meat often, i have to admit, the steak was the best i have ever tasted! i'm a seafood buff, and the fish and seafood i have tasted has been delish!
my friends had the same experience as me, lots to choose from, and really yummy.

the service has been impeccable. the servers were very helpful in choosing the correct wine for my meals, keeping my price range in mind. and theluxemartini's…addictive!

this is one restaurant where you leave feeling that life is good!
