if you can get over all the non prescription glasses and macbooks, then the food is very good. service is confusing. no menus? oh wait menus are at the bar. order sodas at the coffee bar but your beer over at the bar-bar. i guess we weren't underground enough to know how to order. after we figured that stuff out, the food was yummy. bacon jalepeno mac n cheese and a yorkshire pudding burger!

very impressed with the delicious food! try the savory dutch pancake, i was pleasantly surprised :) can't forget to mention the good music and atmospheric vibes.

cool vibe and friendly staff however, if you like starbucks then this could be a great alternative as long as you sugar the daylights out of your espresso based drink. if you want serious coffee, look somewhere else. i had a double espresso with 2 ounces of "steamed milk" (more like bubbly nasty foam) so i could really taste the espresso. unfortunately, the lack of actually grinding the coffee fresh to order resulted in bland espresso flavors in the cup. they also did not clean espresso shot glasses between extractions, which further kills the flavor of their shots as the old bits of pulled espresso adds bland flavored to subsequent drinks. also a slight over extraction made the flavors bitter as it hit the front of my tongue instead of the back. they need to slow down the process just a bit to keep the quality high and make sure that the guy tamping is also the guy that finishes the cup out in the end. never hand off a shot to someone else.

ux is definitely my choice if you’re looking for a place to socialize, sit and get a little work done, plow through homework or just hang out and people watch.

ok, but.... yikes, i like this place but man, their $20.00 bulk jar of coffee is a rip-off. i was told it holds nearly 1lb and that refills are $10.00. well, it holds a little over a 1/2 pound so i wasted $20.00 on the jar and just refill it with $6.50 bags! local's special? my a$$! oh well, buyer beware!

also, their apricot scones were pretty nasty - too much flour, too dry, sparse apricot....i'll stick to the moist, flaky buttery pistachio scones at lola...but i'll keep getting my coffee at lux.

i need to revise my review. i went here sunday morning before my weekly grocery trip, and the place had moved one spot down since i had been there. the new place is very cool and huge, and i think they serve breakfast now? people in front of me were ordering eggs. i didn't recognize any of the staff, which was definitely an improvement because they were friendly and relaxed. such a contrast from before, where every time i walked in i thought they were going to crucify me. i prefer jobot coffee to lux, but i have to now vote "likes it"!

great coffee, crappy service. i love the atmosphere, and i really love the coffee, but the service here is crap! the baristas are snotty and rude, i hate it! as good as the coffee may be, i usually end up going somewhere else.

more than amazing coffee !. we drive from the northwest valley for their heavenly black & white lattes with (amazing) fresh whipped cream. and their baked goods (lemon tarts, plum cakes, cupcakes, etc.) are other worldly. great college town vibe.

without question, the iced coffee from lux was far superior and the perfect drink to sip on while trying to stay cool in the heat of the phoenix sun.

world class coffee. we're from australia so we have high standards when it comes to coffee. lux easily met our standards, wow! excellent coffee and a very groovy vibe. be prepared to queue up, this place is popular.

liked the bathroom sink. great place to meet up w/ friends, loved their furniture, friendly crowd. went during my lunch break, brought my own lunch but did order a slice of strawberry/peach pie, not sure if they warmed it up for me or if it was still warm from the bakery, very good, not too sweet, just perfect for me. will visit again, in the pm next time.

great people watching... it has a downtown san fran feel. oh and the coffee is great and lots of good looking coffee snacks "i did not try one" but looks good...

love it. everytime i stop in phoenix i have to go to lux.
the baristas are great and love the coffee and pastries.
