i lovelucy's, it never fails. always good food. the fried rice isn't how i like it but you add some soy sauce and it almost perfect. i love how their food doesn't have msg in it. one of the only chinese place i eat at now. nothing compares. i even like their egg rolls and i usually hate those.

my first review ever.... and i'm not happy.. so this is my first review for anything ever. i normally let things slide. i work in the food industry. stuff happens, i understand. tonight we placed an order fromlucy'sfor the first time. the guy who answered the telephone was not so pleasant. our food took almost an hour to arrive. we ordered noodles and rice.... needless to say our food was cold and they gave me white rice instead of fried (i hate white rice and that was the only thing i ate for dinner!!!) we both feel nauseated after eating this lovely meal. the only thing that we enjoyed were the fortune cookies. we will never order from this restaurant again. save your money.

different experience, but ended up pleased with some good food. okay, i have lived in san francisco for a number of years and i love chinese food. my experience has ranged from some really bad places to some great restaurants offering excellent selections and exceptional service. looking for a good chinese place in fargo seemed unlikely, butlucy's- with their high rating - got my attention.

when we pulled up front, however, i had some real concerns about this place. non-impressive, low-key. then, we walked in and there was this sign that says, "take a menu and seat yourself." okay.

then, we sat there wondering if someone was going to come by and take our order. waited, waited until i realized that i would have to go up to the front counter and place the order there and then pay for it upfront. that was different - kind of like a fast-food experience. i did not provide a tip on the credit card because i first wanted to see if the food was good. so . . .

the order was processed quickly with the appetizer (starter) coming out with everything else. at first glance, i was not too impressed, but we both ate the selections (sweet and sour chicken, moo shu pork, and pepper steak) and found the food had a good flavor that made up for the lack of any visual appeal. the only item that seemed a little dry was the fried rice special (chicken, beef and shrimp).

all and all, the initial experience was a little odd, but the food was good. so, they earned a small tip for the food, but not a 20% for the lack of service. a 3/5 rating and a "may come back" vote for lucy's.

authentic beijing! best in town. i've been to china many times, and this is as close as you'll find as authentic. the complaint about "bland" rice is typical...the reviewer is used to the soy sauce-laden, americanized version.lucy'sis exactly what you get in china, and it has awesome taste. the pork fried rice is the best. same with the dumplings...they are the real deal. if you like msg and commercial chinese food, don't go here. this is (mostly) homemade, and most can taste the difference!

the best. i've been patronizinglucy'ssince it opened. the food is always fast and hot. the service is very good and friendly. this place has gotten busy so if you go during the usual meal times there will probably be a wait. i haven't run into anything on the menu i didn't like.

food just okay, no service. after reading the good reviews in urban spoon decided to givelucy'sa try, a lot of reviews said "not a buffet", sure it wasn't a buffet but there was also no service. were given menus a seated ourselves, when it came time to order we had to walk back to the register and order and pay, food arrived without plates or utensils, had to ask. food just okay, the special pork dish was excessively greasy other dishes came out cold, all served with tiny bowls of rice. seems like a lot of reviewers in the fm area have never had a good chinese meal if anyone thinks this place was even good!

a repeat customer tells it like it is--warts and all. it has become commonplace for americans to associate "chinese" food with the buffet line--the type of dining where you pick through the chicken and broccoli looking for the morsels least contaminated by its own greasy filth.

at lucy's, there is no buffet but the portions are enormous. simply put:lucy'sis the most affordable, high quality asian cuisine you will find in this town.

"lucy's grandma's noodles" is a must try if you have ever eaten lo mein and enjoyed it. imagine a similar dish with more flavor, heat, and texture--a family recipe that lucy apparently ate as a child in northern china.

one of the most delicious dishes in the entire city--regardless of cuisine--islucy'steriyaki skewers found under the appetizer section . i recommend the chicken skewers by far as they contain the most meat, best flavor and cheapest price. the shrimp version is excellent but far more expensive and the steak version just isn't lean enough--i found myself chewing undesirable pieces of fat.lucy'steriyaki sauce however would make a shoe seem heavenly--the smacking of lips is guaranteed.

lucy's traditional stir-fries seem generally under-seasoned and you might find yourself reaching for the sriracha or soy--the bok choy and shrimp is almost flavorless and one of the few wrong turns i've taken there. also, if you see 3 peppers next to your choice on the menu it will be genuinely spicy so be warned.

in conclusion: grandma's noodles, teriyaki skewers, and the chef's specialties are your safest bet and it's tough to find a dud. in this age of nauseating buffets, lucy'snorth china cuisine is a culinary oasis.

fresh chinese. if you are looking for typical chinese food, lucy'smay not be for you. the rice, noodles and entrees are fresh and not the buffet line chinese that you may be used to.lucy'sgrandma's noodles are incredible! when i call in an order to eat lunch in the office, it's ready by the time i get there. i moved from illinois to fargo three years ago and i finally found great chinese food.
