if i could give this restaurant 0 stars i would. i am not negating the fact their food is fantastic. i am here to write a review on their customer service. never in my life have i experienced anything like i received from the owner. yes, the owner! i have been in the restaurant industry for a couple years now and have never experienced such a cold reaction from a manager let alone the owner. there was a miscommunication on both of our ends. with this being said, his reaction was very unprofessional. it ended in no resolution rather him walking away saying "i don't lose at anything". well i will tell you, he lost my business for life. he raised his voice multiple times on the phone. very very distraught and disappointed. this ended in no dinner and a very unhappy (no longer) customer.

the food was greasy the prices were ridiculous for the portion sizes and we ate nothing but still ended up paying for the food. never again.

food is a bit overpriced but if you go during happy hour they have half off pitchers and some great food specials. would not normally go though unless it was during happy hour.

never again. we reluctantly returned to lopez after having a disappointing meal/service experience about a year ago- thought we's give it another shot. we ordered and appetizer and entree- and both were almost inedible. we managed to make it through the appetizer but each of us took one small bite of the entree and were overwhelmed with how terrible it was, just a truly off-putting combo of flavor. we sent it back and received no form of discount or kind of recompense. a $30 check for nothing that was satiating- and a terrible way to end a lovely day. i won't give this place another chance, it just isn't worth it. cleveland has too many other good choices.

had an early dinner on sunday, before the movie.... the waitress was very attentive and helpful in selection of menu items. the food was prepared perfectly and delicious. the portions were very large. i would highly recommend eating there....

lopez is a local landmark with the best handmade margaritas in the east side! lovely patio, attractive decor, excellent wait staff. this is not the typical cheap mexican fare, where everything tastes the same. don't expect to find your favorite "#5 combo!" lopez serves mexico city style food. the food seems expensive, but some of the meals are hefty enough to serve 2 [older] adults. the quesadilla is my favorite.....

lopez  is a southwestern restaurant in cleveland's suburbs with an interesting back story. it originally was envisioned as a huge international chain. while multinational domination was not achieved by the restaurants, there are still locations in palm beach, beverly hills, mexico city and cleveland heights. rick bayless, a chef you might have heard of at some point with his heralded restaurants, television appearances, cookbooks and grocery store foodstuffs, was the first executive chef in the cleveland heights kitchen almost 30 years ago. dishes run the gamut from tex mex and regional mexican to those that reflect the american south. the bar has a nice selection of tequilas, beer and wine, and makes adequate margaritas that are a touch expensive outside of happy hour. there are many vegetarian dishes on the menu. seasonal items, like the mexican corn cake with mushrooms and arugula in a balsamic reduction, also come in meatless versions. the guacamole is excellent. the delicious hous

the food can feel a bit overpriced for "mexican", but overall it was very good and felt like they were using quality ingredients. i walked away full, and satisfied with my meal.

disappointing service. lopez has the best margaritas, golden, with salt. however, the bartender only wants to wait on you if you are a close personal friend. this lack of service has been consistent for about 6 years now. the guy looks right at you and then does not come over to ask what you'd like. last night, my friend and i stopped by and sat at the bar, no service...moved to a table, the valet had to seat us, no one else was around. the waiter was great until we were ready to pay the bill and then he was nowhere to be found. very disappointing, this time is the last time, no more chances for lopez.

fan-%#$&@?!-tastic. any negative reviews of this place are wrong, our first trip in was awesome. great service, great guacamole, great margarita pitcher, amazing burrito. the server was very helpful in choosing an entree and even went as far as describing the condiments on the table. yea it's a little pricey, but you get what you pay for.

always yummy. probably my favorite cleveland restaurant. i like the specials and new items on the menu or can always happily default to one of the enchilada options.

the first course of the evening had to be the dish that brought me in the door; the iron chef guac. as if a freshly made, traditional guacamole with avocado, onion and a hint of lime is not enough, the fine folks at lopez added bacon, bleu cheese, and sage. even with the richness of the avocado and bacon, the dish worked very nicely with that sort of tang from the bleu cheese. the creaminess of everything was offset just a touch by the bacon giving it a nice textural balance as well. but the biggest surprise came in the wonderfully bright and acidic flavors of the pickled vegetables that accompanied it and almost served to bring a fresh counter to each bite of the guac.

unlike some of the other reviews, we had a very good experience. atmosphere was nice, the place was busy but not loud. dinner was excellent, but maybe a little overpriced. was surprised by the asapagus, totally with the money.

poor service meant we didn't eat here. i tried to eat here a few weeks ago because i was glad to hear there is a new chef. we arrived at about 5:30 and were seated on the patio. there were 6 occupied tables and 5 servers. we were ignored for a full 10 minutes and decided to leave. we mentioned what happened to the clueless hostesses who never offered to correct the situation. went next door to dewey's and had a great meal. i spend my dining dollars where they're appreciated.

this place was a mixed bag. decent drinks and small plates. wallete tacos were amazing. but service and larger plates were mediocre. shrimp was dry and overcooked. rice had many hard grains in it. but guac was excellent.
