we were a party of 11 people and the service wasn’t good. the waiters were not friendly. they gave us a very small basket of bread for a table of 11 people, and their tables are huge. i asked for another one and they took forever to bring it. i guess they don’t care because their tip is already included in the check. and i usually tip 20 to 25%, but not this time. it’s a nice place, the food is good, but won’t be visiting again because of the service.

there are times when we want to try something different when going out to eat. we think of something that is not here, but some place else. it can be everything and anything we might want. and, at times, it might be a place we want to reach for a change. that might be a place that is both greek and mediterranean in taste and flavor.
it might remind you of being in mykonos, santorini, crete or even in rhodes. having been over there before we wanted to try a meal like that which was over here both local and fresh. it offers seafood and more. it is a taste we have and explore here, but reminds us of something new.
welcome to limani in roslyn. it is the combination of greek-mediterranean cuisine that is right here on long island.
enter to something new to try.
when you pull up to limani you know you are in a new place. walk inside and the host will know you have made a reservation to take a place for the meal. it is a place that already has a large collection of individuals who are here and having a meal they want to enjoy.
you are seated at your table and handed the menu and a beverage guide. the menus are filled with a wide variety of appetizers, first and second entrees, additions, and some classics. there is even a collection of raw oysters, clams and other seafood you can choose from as you decide. and all at a price to consider.
there is seafood and meats to choose from. the whole fish is fresh. it is not frozen. this is what they have received today to offer you. there is a raw bar with new items to consider. the meats were freshly cut and aged to be grilled or fried. there were orders of salads and vegetables. there are appetizers, entrees, and more to choose from. even though they are greek from appearance there are no gyros or greek salads or items we might have had at a small greek establishment. limani is on a grander scale. they even have specialties that include lobsters, clams, shrimp and more.
when you look around you see some items that everyone selects. salmon is a popular item. so is the tomato salad. it is all to decide. and when you look for a wine or a cocktail that is here for you as well. there are a variety of choices to choose from. and all at a variety of prices as well. here at limani the range is endless.
a place to start with appetizers.
as they brought the wine for us they also brought our first appetizer. their famous tomato salad. this was a fresh salad that was big. the size of the tomato needed to be cut with a knife to make it bite size. it was fresh. it also came with half a green pepper and onions that were raw but would normally be used for cooking. it did not have slices of a red onion with more flavor. the salad did include a slice of feta cheese. it was small. there was now other flavor or spices. no pepper or salt. no greek spice. not even oil and vinegar we could taste. it was a bowl with large tomatoes and a piece of feta. that was it. this tasted well but nothing more. it was not the normal greek salad you would expect in greece.
next we received the calamari. it was truly fresh. it was breaded. it was light. it was crisp and delightful. this had a good flavor as expected. it had some spice added. it was not heavy. it did include a little sauce to dip in as you take a bite. this was a good size and could have been the entree by itself. it was just right. we could not wait to see the next course.
grilled octopus was next on the menu for us. this, also, was fresh. the octopus was coated and grilled. that is all. it did not have salt, pepper and spice. there was a hint of lemon and very little olive oil that was all. we looked at it and gave it a try. it was grilled. it was dark, hard, and parts of it could not be eaten as it was burnt. it also tasted gummy. when we mentioned this to the waiter they just took it away. that was all. no comments. no offer to bring a new piece. it was done.
a main selection to try and consider.
as the entree arrived it was as we selected true surf-and-turf. here we received a combination of branzino fish and lamb chops.
the branzino was fresh. it was lightly grilled with some olive oil and nothing more. it was an entire fish that was split in two so you could share it in half or eat the entire fish. even the fish head is offered if you want to eat the cheek, which is a delicacy. there was no other spices. it was good that we had a piece of lemon that we could use to sprinkle on top for some flavor. otherwise the fish is bland.
the lamb chop were lamb chops. the two chops that are presented were fresh, moist and medium rare. this was right off the grill. nothing else was added to it. no spices were added. it was good lamb in the french style on the bone. you could take a slice and know what you had here. this actually turned out to be one of the best pieces to offer.
we also received a side offer of grilled vegetables. they included asparagus, slices of eggplant, peppers, and zucchini. there was even a piece of grilled feta cheese that was soft and moist. the vegetables had no flavoring or spice. they were grilled and charred. some of the pieces could not be eaten since they were burnt. this too was bland, so we left that to the side.

it was an interesting combination for our main entree. one item was soft. one item was firm. the fish was tender and fresh with the right texture. the lamb had the taste that was traditional when fresh and grilled.
time to end the meal with dessert.
once the table is cleared it is time for dessert. for us this included a traditional greek-mediterranean pastry of loukoumades, or better known as sfogliatella, the honey ball with cinnamon and sugar. this is always a way to end a traditional meal.
the selection we received was warm, freshly made. it had the right combination of sugar and honey that you could eat with a fork or pick up with your hand and take a bite. it was ideal with a coffee such as an espresso. this offering of loukoumade was light enough to enjoy after the meal we had finished.
in fact, this was a fine way to finish. it was just enough to even bring home with us. it was a perfect pastry as we would have had in greece or italy.
the choice is yours to consider.
limani in roslyn is a place to consider. it is pricey. the table for two is very small. the table for four or more is bigger. the location is even ideal for a large party that you have invited to join you for dinner. the variety is extensive. the plates are big. the noise is loud. it is the place to be seen inside from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. there is even a large wine cellar on the main floor. a good variety and selection with some history and selection. limani can also host a private “tasting” reservation if you and friends or family sit in a private room and have a special event.
we met with tim the manager. he was very helpful and kind. he answered any questions we might have as we selected what they prepared for our courses. the waiters and colleagues were very nice. they are very busy and not always available. they brought you what you wanted and served you fast. you can even see the kitchen where the chef and the team prepare for the meals that they bring to you. it is excellent.
if you are looking for a place that is special, unique and different, then limani in roslyn is a place to consider. you can enter the event with big promotions of design, impression, personality and more. pass the various bentleys, the rolls royces, and the mclarens that are sitting right outside the main entry. see the customers who are ready to be there, eat and be on display. the environment is interesting. for conversation it is a wonderful place to be. the meal is here for you. limani is an event which you can visit when you need to try something different.
one final note, limani also has a location in rockefeller center in new york city. this is available if you work in the city or plan to be in the city for dinner one night. the choice is yours.

so i went for dinner with my few friends for valentines dinner and my bill was $900 plus the mandatory service charge which was to ne added at 20% but instead, i saw $405 tip so i asked the waiter to call his manager, some greek guy with the attitude walks up and he says it is 20% service charge but i pointed out how come it was $405 it does not add up so he says it is what it is and pay the bill i got really upset and told him to calculate and tell me at what percentage is $405 he instead of fixing the bill to correct 20% service charge he started arguing with me and talking down at me in a consending way then i lost my patience and i started raising my voice infont of all the customers so he says i won't be allowed in the restaurant again if i raised my voice so now i lost it and got more upset then his entire restaurant staff came out and they said they will correct the bill to 20% service charge and they readjusted the bill to $180 tip without any apologies, i will never go this shady restaurant ever again for there behavior, all my friends are very upset with limani.com/li for ripping us off. what a sad scam, renu christou should be ashamed of himself. reno christou you should stop ripping off people, renu if you are so hard on for money go and scam people in other industry not in customer-oriented restaurants business, i cannot wait to see you shut down the roslyn location, we cannot have such a ripoff unscrupulous restaurant operators in our neighborhood.

i came with a party of 8 for my mother's birthday. the appetizers were great until my mother tried going to the bathroom and realized there was chewing gum stuck all over her pants and down vest! we looked at the seat she was sitting on and was horrified to see gum smeared all over the chair! for an "upscale" restaurant like this we were so surprised and immediately called the manager who offered "dry cleaning" if we drop off the pants tomorrow. we live in the city and for me drive 20 miles to drop off clothes to dry clean is ridiculous! the manager then offered us dessert on the house, but that doesn't solve the problem!!! we wanted a better solution but he just walked away. we went in for a nice dinner and instead was treated with disrespect.

if you want gum stuck all over your clothes and pay hundreds of dollars for dinner, then you should go here. otherwise, if i could, i would give this place negative stars for their unsanitary conditions and disrespect for their customers.

i recently had a baby shower with 34 guests in limani's party room.  all of my guest were quite pleased with the lovely environment, wonderful food, and great service.  we had one waiter who took care of my guests and catered to all their request.  we felt quite special.  most importantly the quest of honor, my daughter was overjoyed by the hospitality of the limani staff.  we will definitely recommend limani to our friends.  limani you made our party a total success.   thank you.

if your think of going to this place looking for greek food, go somewhere else. i'm sorry but i have eaten at many greek restaurants, molyvos, milos, yefsi just to name a few and those were real greek restaurants and real greek food. all this place is is an upscale mediterranean restaurant masking itself as greek that robs you blind.  my family and i went there after a college graduation hoping for dinner, our reservation was made however when we arrived at 2:30pm instead of serving us a dinner menu they would not accommodate our party of 6 for dinner, but instead got shoved down our throats a sunday brunch buffet that after being robbed of $400 none of us walked out eating anything that we wanted and not full besides, all because there was hardly anything left and the cooking staff never filled any already taken dishes.  in essence we had a half an hour to eat a sunday brunch of shit food at $50 a person plus tax and tips.  we complained but it all fell on deaf ears, it was our fault for not walking out in the first place but our party guests wanted to stay for maybe things would get better.i don't care if they are the last restaurant on the face of this earth for i will never go there again or recommend this place to anyone, ever.

brunch not worth the $$. we were quite surprised at our disappointment with limani's sunday brunch but more so with the lack of regard from the manager when i contacted him a couple of days later with our experience. it was a special occasion for us...our 25th wedding anniversary which we celebrated with our daughter & mother-in-law. the restaurant was 20% occupied (red flag right there) which reminded me that's how it was the first time we had brunch there. there is no doubt about the restaurant's elegance and quality of service, unfortunately, the food did not match up to the same nor meet our expectations. at the carving station the meat selections, including the lamb chops, were all dry & well done. the brisket was difficult to eat since the server wasn't carving it properly. brisket should be sliced against the grain, which i pointed out. unfortunately, he didn't understand me. the french toast was burnt and the waffles were cold. i didn't try the lobster but did try the shrimp and they were a little soft & mushy for some reason- maybe they were defrosted early that morning and then put on top of the ice. regardless, they weren't enjoyable to eat. the sushi although, was delicious. the dessert that was spread out on the bar was limited. most of it was just ok. my daughter ate the blondie and was appalled...it was like a dried up sponge. needless to say how upset we were spending $50 per person for this. i decided to give the manager a call inform him of our experience. by the way, there was no manager in site on sunday. the only people around were the servers. i contacted the manager a couple of days later to inform him of our experience. initially, he asked me for my phone number, how many times we ate at the restaurant and when we were there last and then put me on hold. after returning, he told me exactly when we were there last and also asked me how i paid. (a gift certificate from my brother & sister in law) what does that have to do with anything? it was as if he was trying to catch me in a lie. he told me we came to the restaurant only one other time in 2010. he was on the defense from the beginning and made me feel that my experience was not valid since we weren't regular customers. i mentioned that it was quite expensive and we work very hard for our money and didn't feel we got what we paid for. he replied back that this is the area we live in. i wasn't looking to get into an argument with this person. he made me feel like i was guilty of something. he then proceeded to tell me that if all of his food was so bad he would not be in business. he also made a comment which made absolutely no sense. he said he is not in business to please people just to serve good food. i couldn't believe what i just heard and asked him if he realized what he had just said. he thought i was making fun of how he was talking, which was not the case. in fact, he actually spoke the truth. it is evident he is not interested in pleasing his customers otherwise he might have offered to do something to satisfy a dissatisfied customer. that would have been good business. he continued to tell me that he cannot do anything for me in which i then interrupted him and told him you can do something, you just choose not to. i told him that he needed us more than we need him and that he was not a good businessman...then hung up

the food was pretty good. the bread was amazing. the service seemed adequate until a fire alarm went off. there was a burnt smell in the atmosphere and an extremely loud alarm blaring in our ears for over five minutes before they could turn it off. accidents could happen and that is understandable. however none of the waiters did anything to calm the customers or inform them of the situation. nothing to ease the situation and when i finally asked, the waiter rudely walked away. no compensation and over 70$ for lunch for two in a terrible atmosphere. they need to train the staff better.

i never expected a restaurant of limani's caliber to end up in long island but perhaps maybe on 60th and madison. limani is an upscale, chic greek restaurant located not too far from the americana mall in roslyn. rolls royces, bmws, bentleys and mercedes-

not on any sunday. this restaurant, limani, is totally overrated and not worth the $50.00 per person brunch. the food should be as good as the atmosphere, but it just isn't. my eggs benedict were cold. i told the waiter, and he removed my plate. he brought back eggs benedict that were even colder - totally unappetizing. there was no drawn butter for the lobster -only cocktail sauce. there was no bread basket with fresh, crusty breads to eat with the cheeses, prosciutto, olives, etc. the bacon was not on the same service area as the eggs. there are so many other, more satisfying restaurants in and around the roslyn area for a reasonable price, that i would skip this pricey pathetic portrayal of "gourmet greek."

fine dining and value. i've dined at most fine mediterranean restaurants in ny and ct for business purposes and i can tell you - you pay for what you get - especially with this type of cosine. whole fish is my favorite - mainly because they don't add overwhelming, fattening sauces to the fish to cover up its poor quality. limani in long island ((so happy to finally have one out here) and a few in nyc have whole fish perfectly prepared. you know the quality is there if they don't have to mask it with a sauce. the octopus is the best i've had. it's a nice opportunity to have a whole fish for yourself or share a larger one with your partner.

for the hell of it, i even tried their brunch on sunday- - earlier in june. love the lobster and sushi station - especially since my kids only seem to eat sushi these days.

total ripoff - bad food. i've been to limani 3 times and each time the food and the value got progressively worse. my last and final visit was on 8/8/09, my wife and i went with another couple. my small single crabcake was $24 and my wife and i shared a whole fish (1 person portion) which was $125. (scam - they charge by the pound and don't tell you the weight or how they weigh) we each had 1 glass of wine ordered by the glass. the bill including tip for 4 was over $550 and before dinnier we each had 1 drink at the bar for $60. for manhattan this is high but for long island it's criminal and shows a clear lack of regard for the customers. also, the food is simply not that good. i predict the place will be closed within 18 months. p.s. - they also try to peddle $7.99 a bottle greek wines for $85 and up.
