amazing food and service !. having a japanese food desire, we went to lilotang after my partner and i had a quick look at the menu online and booked in a table. it was surprisingly quiet for a saturday night. we were warmly welcomed by po. after a look at the menu i was definitely tempted by the different tasting menus and my partner being vegetarian asked if there was any vege take on those tasting menus. po was really arranging and offered us a special shared tasting menu with a few meaty options for me. not knowing much about sake, we decided on a bottle of gewurtztraminer to go with our meals

delightful meal and wonderful services. had the tasting menu , started with avocado tuna, and some yakitori skewers, pork belly and chicken meat ball. black cod, lamb and the duck for the main was so delicious. will definitely come back with my friends next time.

thumbs up!

lilotang is like a hidden gem in the heart of the city. amazing customer service and i’d simply go again just for that. they don’t have an elaborate menu, so we tried half the menu at the very first visit and the ensured they delivered the perfect dishes. it’s an excellent choice for that quirky restaurant you pick for a date.

perhaps the worst poke bowl i've ever eaten. so disappointed. i can't believe it's even called poke when it's just fish (and barely any at that), salad and rice. call it donburi if you want but i expect way more toppings for a poke bowl. avocado??? edamame??? corn??? just some suggestions for you.
so stingy on the fish too, i was just eating salad and salad and more salad. couldn't even finish it, it was such a boring meal.

a little hard to see from the road, but lilotang is quite busy even for a thursday night. we ordered the $65pp set menu for two so we could try out different aspects of the menu.

my favourites were the bbq squid, seared sirloin in herb miso and spicy miso sauces, and matcha ice cream with mochi tofu.

overall the service and food was good. of noting was the hospitality of zack - one of the waiters - who knew we were just in from sydney and offered to give us tips on where to eat around the canberra area.

do give lilotang a try!

a very cool japanese fusion restaurant located right opposite to where we stayed at the hotel realm. the staff (we had zack the whole evening) were all v friendly. love their recommendation and later on found out it’s under the same owner as the really yummy and popular chinese restaurant in hk (dai pan lau). highly recommended this place and i would definitely come back! i loved the sushi and sashimi pick as well, hard to order such a different kind of fish from anywhere in aust!

busy japanese restaurant just right for the discerning diner passing staying at the doma hotels or anyone living in canberra. i had the beautifully grilled cauliflower and hot steaming pot of assorted vegetable sukiyaki for dinner during my 6 weeks of vegan challenge. keen attentive waiting staff. only downside is that there aren’t too many dishes for “plant pests”.

we tried the set menu and enjoyed it immensely, particularly the sushi starter. the menu here, whilst include japanese classics, is more of a fusion with western twists.

if you do not like a lot of fat or burnt parts on your steak - i suggest skipping it. there were lots of parts where i could not chew. the slow cooked pork melted in our mouth but again was extremely fatty. the drinks menu were excellent and we had a very good warm sake.

i was so incredibly impressed with lilotang. everything was perfect, the service, the food, the drinks, everything. a great atmosphere, beautiful large venue and extensive menu. ordered the edamame, the sushi platter, the chefs platter and fish, rice and greens. the timing of the dishes arriving was perfect and everything was delicious. 10/10 recommend

my friend and i came here because of its reputation and popularity. maybe we had too much expectations but it didn't surprised us. it doesn't mean the food was bad. sashimi plate was very delicious and served in delicate way. the grilled fish was yummy with special sauce and the dessert was pretty good. anyway i will recommend it to whom has not tried ever. but i will look for much better janpanese restaurant which will be beyond expectation.

went here for a date night with the other half. it was amazing! beautiful food with a modern twist on japanese. our absolute favourite was the black cod - perfectly cooked and set off wonderfully by the miso based sauce. the service was attentive but not overbearing. will go back!

seriously seriously good food. started with tuna sashimi with avocado, miso and soy which was so fresh and tasty. next we shared the japanese curry croquettes which were decadent. pork tonkatsu is crunchy on the outside and tender inside. duck breast with tempura duck breast egg and shiitake. had the umeshiso mojito which is possibly one of the best i have had.
