don't be in a hurry but i think it is worth the wait and love the atmosphere...especially if you can get a table outside. getting drink refills and anotherbeercan also be a challenge because of the long line of folks waiting to order pizza. the pie is great.

bland pizza, expensive beer. i really wanted to like lilly's pizza. i have been coming to raleigh on business every few weeks for the past year, and have found the city to have some amazing restaurants. i had heard some good things about lilly's, and since we all had an itch for pizza that night, we decided to give it a try. the atmosphere is as a pizza place should be - casual, relaxing, and a bit funky. the place was crowded, and we could tell there were regulars in the place. there were three of us, and we ordered one medium and one small pizza from the cashier at the counter. we all wanted beer, so we ordered a pitcher. we saw that glasses ofbeerwere $4.50, so we figured that a pitcher would be in the $9 to $12 range. well, we were surprised that the pitcher was $16! we were thirsty and hungry, and the pitcher had been poured, so we paid, got our glasses and sat down. we poured thebeerand found that the pitcher poured exactly 3 glasses of beer! let's do some math. we paid $16 for a pitcher which poured three glasses of beer. if we had gotten 3 individual beers at $4.50 per glass, we would have paid only $13.50 for the same amount of beer! usually, a pitcher is a better deal than individual glasses of beer, but this is not the case at lilly's for some reason one of us went to the counter and pointed this out to the cashier, who simply agreed with our assessment, and smiled at us. this kind of set a bad tone for the rest of the evening. we waited for quite a while for our pizza, and when it came, we were disappointed. although it was piping hot, it was bland, bland, bland! there was hardly any tomato sauce on it, and very little cheese. the crust, although it had good texture, was flavorless. i have to give the whole lilly's experience a thumbs down.

i wanted to love it and i only kinda liked it. dang, what a bummer! the inside is great, thebeermenu is nice, the salads are yummy (lemon tahini dressing!!), the pizza crust is so good! i ordered the sir walter and ended up getting a sir salter! woo wee, that prosciutto was salty! i know it should be salty so i believe they should have used a touch less. or slice it thinner. it was more kin to country ham than prosciutto. it completely took over the other flavors, like the smoked gouda and the roasted garlic, that i wanted to taste so bad. i'll definitely go back and give it another try. the buddah looked yummy!

quite bad, actually. first: the pizza. yuck. their dough is too yeasty and soft- kind of gummy. and grease runs off of the slices of pizza as you eat. the pizza combinations are very creative and sound delicious. unfortunately the quality of the ingredients kills them.
the atmosphere is horrible- staff yelling out people's names when their order is ready, people fluttering about to get more plates, napkins and silverware- or hovering to try to find seating in such a small place. the noise can get pretty intense. if you happen to like their food i would definitely recommend getting it to go and enjoying it elsewhere.
you can tell the staff get frazzled and/or just give up. expect non-existent service. if you go during non-peak hours you can sit at the bar, have abeerand a friendly chat with them while they make your food. once a crowd comes- all bets are off.

gastronomically fun!. all the bashing must lend itself to jealousy. sure, you may like ny style, neopolitan, or .... but, right in your backyard, you have one of the most quaint, entertaining and delicious pizza joints anywhere.

the pizza is seriously good and well worth the effort!

still love it!. after more than 10 years of dining here, i can still stay lilly's make the best pizza in the triangle. they have an outstanding selection of toppings not considered at most pizza joints. all of their food is prepared from fresh, natural, and local ingredients. you have tremendous vegan and vegetarian, with a wide array of organic veggies. additionally, they are serving gluten free pies.

my favorite pizza is the dantes inferno: a bbq chicen pizza with a slightly sweet & smoky sauce, onions and bacon!!! even the chicken is made from hormone free cuts. the salads are delicious as well; the homemade ceasar dressing is very good. theirbeerselection includes many local microbrews; thre are truly option here for everyone.

the crew strives for you to enjoy your meal inspite of the sometimes long lines and somewhat smoky atmosphere. i highly recommend for anyone to give lilly's a try; it surely beats to death any of the chains.

good pizza, nothing more.. pizza is fantastic. interesting and savory pie toppings and specialty pizzas. no real waitstaff...you order at the front and they scream your name and bring it to you. the interior decor is fun and quirky, the only downside is that it's super loud and you smell like you left a pizza campfire when you leave. my eyes burn because of the smoke when i try to eat there. they have 4 taps and a fridge full of good, craft beer. i ordered a duck rabbit milk stout to drink while i waited for my to-go pizza. unfortunately when the cashier opened up my bottle and i asked for a glass (you don't drink goodbeerout of bottles, especially not stouts) i was shot down because "they're only for tap beer." what? if you're going to serve good beer, you should know how to serve it. that's forgivable. to tell someone they can't have a glass when they ask for it? are you kidding? that was the lastbeeri order from that place.
