why the fuss?. i am not really sure what all the fuss is about. i had a panini, my guest had several pastas.. my sandwich was terrible, and the pasta was mediocre at best. there are a million places with better pasta than this. dessert was average. i don't get it. nothing special.

very good italian. i have been to lidia's many times, and my favorite meal is the pasta trio at lunch. there are always three different pastas available all-you-can-eat and i have always loved at least two of them. can't go wrong with that.

yuck. just yuck. this meal was so disappointing from the mediocre service to the bland boring food that i cannot even muster the energy to review it. everything was so middle of the road that i cannot believe this place stays packed. clearly kansas citians needs their taste buds checked. diners beware. save yourself the trouble and find somewhere else to eat.

great food but inconsistent. i've had some of the best meals at lidia's - and a couple of my worst meals, too. when they are good, they are on the money. love the decor and location

disappointed. we finally made it to lydia's on friday night after everyone telling us how fabulous it was. i was highly disappointed.
atmosphere was great, service pretty good, but food was just not good at all. four out of four dishes were tasteless and nothing to special at all. won't be back lydias.....

manager was not watching her resturant -- instead was just standing around -- just not worth the price

good experience. just ate here for the first time last night. hostess was very nice and welcoming and i saw her making rounds through our entire dinner, asking customers how their meal was and if they needed anything. our server didnt seem very prepared and had to read up on the specials. seemed like he had to make several trips to do small things that could have been combined in one trip? i got a caesar salad. delicious and awesome croutons. and the pasta trio. heavenly. liked two of the pastas more than the third, our server said the pasta trio changes each night too, which i thought was cool. atmosphere was nice. not too loud, good crowd but no wait. i will definitely go back. bill seemed quite high, but for a nice occasion, which this was, it was worth it.

while the food was good it was not of a quality matching the prices. our server was far to pushy before our order, then was mostly absent for the rest of the meal. will not be back.

best italian in town!. i love lidia's for the pasta tasting. it's always a fun adventure to go and find out what the pastas are that day. it's a great deal for lunch or dinner! and, they have the best caesar salad i've ever had. great wines for $25/bottle. the service has always been fabulous. lidia's is my favorite restaurant in kc!

the idea of going to lidia's always excites me. the restaurant itself is a beautiful spectacle. if you haven't ever been to any of the 3 restaurants in the old downtown rail yard south of the crossroads district, you must go see. mega-high ceilings and wi

love lidia's. have been several times to lidia's recently, and the quality has been right up there every time. love the service-they are always very welcoming and not flustered by special requests. have tried a number of items on the menu (pork especially good) but still favor the pastas of the day and their caesar salad (which i think is the best anywhere). the key is fresh, fresh. i haven't found a pasta there which i didn't like, but the orrechiette with broccoli (and i'm not a broccoli fan--to me it's to be endured) is unbeatable.

maybe it's walking in past the herb garden entry, even in winter it has such personality and charm, with the lighting just so--i'm in a good mood just entering the foyer. they make you feel like they are happy you have chosen their restaurant for your meal, which is something sorely lacking in so many places these days.
so, kudos to lidia, it's still good!

a fresh italian alternative. lidia's stands somewhere at the top of a large selection of italian restaurants here in kansas city by approaching it's menu with fresh, seasonal, made in-house entries designed to capture an essence of italy hard to find. treat yourself and order the pasta tasting, which will grant you an unlimited supply of three house chosen dishes that have yet to disappoint me in the many times i have come here.
