this place is terrible! i ordered the mahi chowder and it tasted like tomatoe soup. told the waitress i didn't like it and she still charged me for it after only eating one bite of it. she also asked me if i wanted to take it home after she knew i hated it and hadn't touched it for thirty minutes. also had to wait over an hour just to get the food for everyone else at the table. do not go here!

my husband and i loved this spot. it's secluded and laid back. our food was wonderful. the waitstaff was friendly. the prices were reasonable considering how healthy and organic the meals were. we will be returning! :)

wow!!! fantastic fusion of two traditional favorites, bread pudding and french toast. extremely satisfying. goes down beautifully with mimosa.

leapings lizards this place is good. okay corny title but true. we went here knowing that this place has been hyped up from ddd and other reviews, but it actually delivered on the quality of food. we had the lunch specials. for me, i ordered the rainbow trout, it had tons of flavor and cooked very well. my wife had the the sirloin which was so tender that we could cut it with a butter knife. we came right after the lunch rush so it was perfect timing because it is true that this place runs out of space quickly. well deserved good reviews.

ehhh. a bit overrated. been there twice both times they were out of what i wanted and both times my second choices were decent but not really good.

heard they had a fire and are rebuilding. please go by and visit around back wherevthey are selling fresh produce. help them rebuild, please.

great place to eat!. my husband and i recently visited va beach, one thing i really wanted to do was go to the leaping lizard for lunch. i watched the episode with guy on triple d. the lunch was super good. my husband had the tuna salad and i had the quinoa salad. they were both delicious. the server and everyone there was so friendly and made you feel very welcome. i can't wait to go back.

first,the ambiance is 2nd to none for this area, you just don't get this around here. its cozy and quaint. the energy even outside is amazing. this would be a very romantic date. the duck is out of this world for dinner. also get the brownie with ice cream. service is fantast.

fantastic! drove for 1 hr and a half just to come here. food is great ! great vibes! calm atmosphere ! i recommended this place to anyone!!!

we arrived for a late lunch with some 10 folks hanging out in front waiting and a packed parking lot. no matter. we were seated promptly and graciously after they cleared a party of 14. i loved my snapper salad on a bed of greens with raspberry vinaigrette and tossed with blueberries and cantaloupe -- surprisingly fresh and yummy. the crab cakes were moist and packed with crab (i 'borrowed ' a bite from a friend), but felt the burger (beef, lamb and something i cannot remember, ordered by a friend) was woefully over cooked-- i'd have sent it back. despite the bustling dining room food service was fast and friendly. despite the hot day, temperatures on the back porch were fine.

food was fun and creative. but both times i went, the service was sluggish at best. i enjoyed the surry ham in the local baked ciabatta, but it took forever to arrive. also they have limited alcohol drinks and the selection i requested was "out" it was called a grapefruit margarita. also they did not offer salt rims even though i asked.
i also tried the pork and lamb patty on a squash cake. not my favorite. the patty was a bit underdone. the squash was soggy and not crisp enough as a under layer for the patty. a bit more blueberry glaze would have been nice also.
would have enjoyed the bakery, but it was closed on mondays.
had to ask for the check, never good service when one has to request their own check.
really need to amp up the service. not only do we go to restaurants for food and presentation, but service is equally important. the leaping lizard has missed his mark, hope they can recover.

yummo. as a total foodie, i have come to the conclusion that dining out is only for conveince and not taste. i feel like i can't even buy a good meal, at any price, because it has become a processed sysco world.
well not today! my bff and i celebrated her birthday lunch someplace new to us~
the leaping lizard. it was a righteous experience. everything on our plates was make with love and skill. it was just, just so yummo. then we went door to the bakery for more love. no to mention everyone that took care of us was swell.

wait, wait, wait. the food is great at leaping lizard; however, when you are told it will be 15 minutes before a table will be available, it shouldn't take 35 minutes and still no table. then to find out your table was given to people that arrived after you is just not acceptable! like i said, the food is great, but the establishment needs to be more respectful toward their customers! thanks

hamburger heaven. i have been doing some work down in norfolk va recently and decided to stop in at this cozy little café.

i had, without a doubt, the most delicious hamburger that i have ever had in my life.

i am heading back down there next week and plan on eating here at least twice.
