for some time now this culinary haven in new jersey has been beckoning to the nyc dinerdivas, who were waiting only for better weather before venturing across the waters to the haunts of hoboken. finally on friday the skies were clear and the temperature

visited before heading over to carlos bakery and it did not disappoint! ordered havana club triple decker made of grilled chicken, bacon, tomato, avocado and red onion on toasted multi grain bread with mayo. it came with a side of platanos maduros, fried yellow plantains.

i couldn't finish the sandwich, it was delicious! did not care the for plantains. still a great bargain.

restaurant is very small, a few tables, counter seating and outdoor seating.

i thought the staff at the restaurant were a little stuck
up. i detected some prejudice. the staff needs to be a little more diverse in terms of their greeting of potential customers

great cuban food in hoboken! went for a birthday dinner for six and we sat outside in the summer. they don't have much room inside but there is another location in hoboken for larger groups. everyone's food was delicious, particularly the dry cured beef (a different take on traditional ropa vieja/vaca frita) which many of us ordered. the table beside us ordered the pork chop and steak which looked and smelled divine (they also said it tasted amazing) so i'll be sure to order that the next time i'm in the area.

absolutely phenomenal! and great because it is byob.
i ordered the papas rellena (featured on ddd) and it was heaven. everyone i was with tried it and absolutely loved it. this was the best thing i ate on my 5 day vacation.
the other people i was with ordered some grilled chicken and vegetable dish, and a breaded steak. both of them were also very pleased as well. all three of us are for $50; not too bad!

amazing food. i had the snapper special and my boyfriend had the skirt steak. they were both delicious. the steak was cooked to perfection. we also had a cuban special pressed sandwich which was also delicious.

the portions were enough for the three of us. i love to eat all the dishes together, sometimes eating some empanada with rice and beans or maduros with beans, using tostones like i would a piece of bread.

i loved it!. the papas rellena and beef empanadas were great. my chicken sandwich was decent but my boyfriends fried chicken and red beans were delicious. i like the atmosphere there too, it feels authentic and small. i want to go back and try their french toast- supposedly they beat bobby flay!

great cuban food. i went by three times before i found the place. the food is great and the service is fast and plentiful. my hat is off to the chef who cooks this delicious food. i got to know about this place thru his wife who used to take her daughter to head start in hoboken. she told me about it and that her husband was the chef there. well out of curiosity i could not wait and walked in and sat down to some old fashion cuban food. wow!! to my dismay it was as good as my mom's food and some of it was better. sorry mom!

this place was delicious!! the dinner items were a little pricey but in the sharing size and sides are large portions for cheap prices! we had chimichurry skirt steak with a side of rice, fried plantains, and yellow rice. the stuffed plantain appetizer is delicious and big enough for a small meal. a great place to eat with an authentic cuban vibe a block away from the coast!

go salsa. fresh and tasty like someone's abuela would make it! it's always crowded and the prices are budget friendly. it's small so no big groups can be accommodated. and you may have to take a seat at the counter if you don't want to wait.
