excellent neighborhood italian!

this is our go-to byo italian restaurant. the food is consistently good, the wait staff very friendly and attentive. in addition, they are very flexible creating additions or deletions as tastes require.%

la fontana is a great restaurant! good italian food and music and the service was wonderful. very chill vibes and comfortable seating. i've found my new favorite restaurant.

we had a large group of people and this restaurant was a perfect fit. they helped us pre-select a menu and it worked out great. we loved the fact that this restaurant is byob - so bringing your own bottle of wine is perfect. i had the cesar salad and really enjoyed the taste of the dressing. i also had the mushroom chicken marsala- loved the sauce and the chicken...i just wish it came with a pasta or mashed potato. the bread was good but the olive oil was just that....no season or balsamic option. the family style dessert options were really good, especially the ice cream. would recommend for a fun and good tasting food!

i agree with horrible. we were celebrating a 75th birthday, was not told about the new corkage charge of $1.95 we were a table of 12. ok, we can deal with $1.95 per bottle. then we get the bill , $30 dollars extra for the birthday cake, we already paid $30 for at the bakery. if you want to celebrate an occasion pick another place, this place nickels and dimes you. when we made the reservation, never told about the new corkage fee or cake charge.

horrible. the staff is rude and the food is tasteless. i ordered the caprese salad and you would think its hard to mess that up but they forgot the balsamic. the risotto primavera was completely absent of any flavor and the eggplant parmesan was bland as well. i consider the mark of a great italian place to be the quality of it's red sauce but theirs tastes like chef boyardee. two thumbs down, you can do better eating at a fast food place like fazoli's!

classic setting and italian dining. this was a bit more formal than we were really looking for, but the location was perfect and we had a very good meal. service was not particularly warm, but competent. sadly, a couple of desserts were not on the menu, so i abstained. all in all, a good, not great, experience.

great authentic italian food. we visitied during restaurant week and the food was great! there was a very extensive menu to select from and every course was amazing! i would highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for a nice italian byob.

very impersonal. food was nothing to rave about and the staff was very rude. of all the places downtown to eat, do not waste a minute in this overcrowded, unfriendly business.

to basic for me. the food isnt bad or anything but the menu consist of chicken parm and other corny menu items such as chicken marsala. if you go there do not have high expectations it is just very basic.

the service and owner are plaintly incompetent. the waiting staff has the audacity to argue with the customers. the food in mcdonalds is better than this place zagat rated more like they bought that award. my office will find out about this restaurant

owner is horrible business man- will never go back. having my rehearsal dinner here made me change my mind about ever going back...
i recently had my rehearsal dinner at lfdc and we picked this byo because we loved coming here with friends on a regular basis. however, after dealing with the manger, i would not recommend this restaurant for any party events. 2 weeks before our party- the manager tried to nickel and dime us on every aspect (even though we had a contract for 7 months!) and then he tried to move us in a smaller room. it is ridiculous that a business man would treat his customers like this- and regular customers- for planning their rehearsal dinner at this restaurant. once we got there, there was also a "frat party" in the main dining area that was completely out of control all night. honestly, if i didn't have the family and friends that i do have, it could have ruined the night. this frat party had people standing on chairs, yelling, shirts off, going into the womens bathroom, coming into our party because they were so drunk, and passing around bags of wine like its the first time they ever drank wine (which is completely possible). the manager didn't try to stop any of this because they were "future patrons". really?! once we got the bill, again the manager tried to screw us out of our set contract agreement and add additional charges to our bill. i've never seen more dishonest, disgraceful, and sneaky business man as i have seen at lfdc. sadly, the manager ruined our experience here and i would honestly never go back here even though i live 6 blocks away. the bright side was the waiters are excellent! sadly, the service is masked by the horrible management this restaurant is under. i do not recommend this restaurant for any events unless the manager changes which he probably will not and its completely clear his only interest is money, no service, and no control over his restaurnat

so bad. this is one of the rudest restaurants i have ever visited. we were so disappointed that i decided to speak with the manager. i ended up speaking to the owner of the restaurant. he, to my surprise, was an extremely rude businessman. i told him why i was upset for the following reasons. it was so packed that nobody could move around. not even the waiters to give us water could get to us. we were rushed and told repeatedly that our table will needed for the next party in an hour. we were only there 2 hours. the atmosphere was obnoxiously loud, but this wasn't really his fault. the menu on the very back page does have a set of rules that everyone must follow including, being considerate with volume, paying extra if you share, 20% tip will automatically be included, etc.
the food was mediocre at best for a few reasons: a. overkill on butter to create that "rich" taste but did nothing but make you feel uncomfortably full. b. one of us ordered meatballs with pasta and they forgot the meatballs. to her surprise when she told them they had got it wrong, they brought out a dish with meatballs on it that was had been microwave. you can tell by the rubbery taste to the meat and the fact that the plate was way too hot. i don't think the plate absorbed that heat from meatballs or that they cooked with it. c. my girlfriend's salad was a mixture of olive oil with lemon on arugula. nothing special for 7 bucks and simply too sour. we had birthday cakes and they delivered that very well. (im not an unreasonable person that simply going to bash this restaurant without being honest.) after i spoke with the owner he said that it was because our friends had arrived late and it was a wasted table. i am a fair guy and i apologized for that, but it was still unnecessary to give us poor service. and to that he said, verbatim "i'm sorry you think you had bad service, you and your group may leave now or i will have to remove you from the premises." i don't think that was really necessary because i wasn't demanding anything or even trying to insult his restaurant. i apologized even for my friends being late. i was simply telling him my feedback and slightly hoping for an apology and that they will try better next time. for a 350 dollar dinner i am very disappointed.
