love it!. i can't believe i've waited so long to try it. the arepas are really good ! cheap cheap cheap too, $5 will make any human-sized being quite full here, yet the quality of the ingredients seems high. reward card system as well, and i know i'll beback10 more times to earn my free meal!

still yummy. i've beenbackto la fogata several times and it has yet to disappoint. not sure what the disgruntled person elsewhere was on about. for my last foray, i had the mazorca with an arepa. yes, the corn/potato chip concoction is a little crazy - but it's tasty crazy. and say what you like about the 'pink sauce' - it's really good! the time before, i had the arepa with both the bacon/onion and seasoned egg mixes. it was very filling and flavourful and i'm thinking of having it again for brunch one day soon. it's not exactly health food, but it's not advertised as such. that said, the arepas are never greasy nor are the fillings - even the bacon/onion combo, so an occasional indulgence is well worth it for the great flavours. while you're there, try a postobon - sort of an apple-ish tasting soft drink which is a nice counterpoint to the meal.

arepas = appetzing. a friend of mine camebackfrom a posting in colombia with tales of delicious arepas which could be had from street vendors. i was walking down view st. when i noticed la fogata. i checked out the menu board to see what was up - when i saw arepas, i had to stop in.
it was not a disappointment. i had an arepa with bacon and onion. it was yummy and warm and crunchy and tasted of corn and was a delicious, inexpensive lunch. i look forward to goingbackand trying more of their fare.

fantastic hole-in-the-wall. this is a superb small place serving up homemade fast food type latin fare. we had a pork arepa and beef empanada. both were amazing! actually the pork arepa was one of the better things i've eaten all year. if you haven't gone before, you should definitely give it a try for lunch, dinner, or late night (saw on their card they are open til 4am). it is very small with a few bar stools and a high counter--that's all. it's not a sit down kind of place. we will definitely bebackfor a grab and go lunch in the future.

i went last night, had no real expectations & was utterly knocked on my ass by just how delicious the food was. i ate the beef chorizo arepa - i might eat nothing but beef chorizo arepas now for the rest of my natural life.

this modest little restaurant has singlehandedly put columbia onto my travel radar. i want to gobackto the mother country to eat my way across it... all because of that one little late night snack.

overcharged and frustrated.. i went to la fogata latina on canada day night to grab something to snack on while walking home. it wasn't busy, but it was loud, so i asked for the special (around $3.75) and received it quickly. i asked for the stamp card, feeling that it was a place where i could frequent since i work downtown and like to check out all the cute little eateries on my lunch break. there were none however and the clerk smiled and said that the next time i came, i could get two stamps. which is fine. in the end, i saved on paper.

my major issues with this place was that there were advertised options for my protein filling (chicken or shrimp or pork i believe), and i was not given any, nor given the chance to as the clerk quickly rang me through. i got shrimp, which given the choice i would have not chosen.

in addition, since i was rung through so quickly and handed my food almost at the same time i handed my money over, i was flustered and unable to ask about my food allergies. i'm incredibly allergic to avocados but didn't see any near the top of my snack so i thought i was good to go. and just in time, a group of people had come in waiting to be served. i got outside and down the road a bit, took a bite and realized that there were avocados and that i couldn't eat it. i gave it to my partner who was with me, and turnedbackdown the street to get another one.

by the time i gotbackthe eatery was louder and busier than before. it was here that i realized that i had been charged $6.50 for my daily special, and not the advertised $3.75.

all in all, the snack was given to me quickly and from the single bite that i had it tasted great going down. i would not gobackhowever, until they lower their music so i can actually hear what the clerk has to say, ask my questions about allergies clearly and ensure that i was not being overcharged for something that i couldn't eat.

great flavour, portion problems. i was extremely excited to try la fogata, especially after reading the positive feedback. my companion & i went on a friday right after work, and we ordered a chicken arepe, beef mazorca, and the cubano (pork). we both felt the flavours were really good, but the proportion of filling to bread was way off. there is just too little meat inside every item, and because of this - the overall feeling in your mouth is bread. it was a bit of a shock visually also, since the proprietor shows us digital photos of the entrees to help us order, and the end product looked nothing like the photos. while the prices are low, i for one would be happy to pay a little more to get a decent helping of the good stuff inside. unless that happens, i doubt i'll bebackunfortunately.

what the heck. i stopped by this little hole in the wall last week for a quick snack and was pleasantly surprised by the "araipas" (sp). it was basically a tortilla cut down the middle with beef stuffed in it. the food was good but i found the service put me off. the spanish lady was talking with some other spanish ladies in the corner, saw me, but didn't take my order. i waited a bit, then the cook saw me and came over right away, explained the dishes to me and took my order. after that, the spanish lady finally came over, took my money and promptly turned herbackon me and wentbackto chatting with her friends in spanish. not exactly the friendly level of customer service i'm used to.

on a plus side the food was great and very nicely priced so i'll probably bebackto try another one of those araipas.

fantastic food & gracious service. i became a fan of la fogata when they were just open a couple of weeks. we came across it headed reluctantly to mcd's to get some fast food. beatriz and daniel welcomed us in and explained their menu and how their dream was coming true.

i am a huge fan of the mazorka with pork, i love all of the toppings and really enjoy an postobon apple soda. we've beenbackmany times and never once disappointed. a hidden gem downtown, please be sure to take your taste buds for an excellent columbian experience
