i went there recently for a birthday. we were seated in a private room since we were a large party.

we arrived quite early and some of us were starved, so we asked for bread. we were told that bread will only be brought out once mains are ordered since the bread will affect our appetites (and hence how much we order). i understand the theory, but to be told that outright was a whole other thing.

it is an expensive restaurant but the food was good. i had a steak which was tasty and cooked perfectly. but it wasn't a "wow" steak.

overall, a good night out but i don't think it would be a restaurant that i would choose to go to again, except when invited for someone else's function.

we've been meaning to try la cucina di ciro for a while now, and finally went on thursday night. there is a great ambience, and we had very good service. the food was really good without being exceptional. not cheap (r1100 for 2 people with a bottle of wine), but a really nice venue for a romantic evening.

great quality ingredients and nice food although i find sometimes that there is an off note in his food pairings e.g. adding mint to the poached pear, gorgonzola starter.... just a step too far that takes a fabulous dish down to a nice one. however, that being said, always good.

visited di ciro one friday afternoon for lunch and boy was i happy to be trying them out... everything from starters to desserts was phenomenal that i was already thinking when i'd be back while i was on my way out...
location is great and the atmosphere is fantastic, especially during lunch time and the warm spring air outside. parking may be a problem if they are full... but then again if you are going to a restaurant solely on its parking availability then you are eating out for all the wrong reasons.

we went to la cucina di ciro one thursday night. it is a really lovely outdoor venue, perfect for summer nights and day time celebrations. we had a great evening with wonderful food and fantastic service! i had the beetroot carpaccio to start, followed by a seafood pasta - both were delicious! there is definitely a personal touch at la cucina. worth a try!

the pudding shop for saturday breakfast

lovely spot on 7th in a converted old house.
the breakfast menu was interesting and definitely not mainstream or average.

unfortunately the service was a big let down. despite the restaurant being virtually empty at the time with only a few other patrons, the waitress forgot to bring drinks we ordered throughout the meal as well as condiments we asked for.

the meal itself was good but a bit overpriced for the portion size.

at least the serve great coffee (illy) and that saved the day!

a good selection of baked goods and pastries are available as well.

they could play some music to add to the dining experience ...

will definitely go back here to try their dinner menu.

this is my second time at cucina di ciro. the food is exceptional and an astonishingly large range of the wine list is available by the glass.
this time around, i had the parma ham with poached pear, gorgonzola, and rocket accompanied by a a glass of jordon unoaked chardonnay. my partner had the lentil and aubergine soup -- think a delicate dhal with a whisper of sweetness. both delicious.
main course for me was the exceptional duck accompanied by a catherine marshall pinot noir. my partner had the grilled scottish salmon with tzatziki and mint pesto and sweet peppers. (both plates wiped clean. )
not cheap, but not expensive either. highly recommended.

la cucina di ciro, roughly translating to 'cyrus's kitchen', is an apt name for a quint and welcoming restaurant which is fit for the great emperor himself. the authenticity of the cuisine, crockery and cup cakes added a flare of warmth to an autumn evenings dinning experience. while the decor could be enhanced by more deliberate choices, the decorum of the staff left me feeling like the founder of the achaemenid empire.
