fantastic!. i consider myself a bit of a "sushi snob" and this is by far my favourite sushi restaurant in the city and i've been to a lot of sushi restaurants. i have never had a bad experience here and i have been going here since they opened a few years back. the sushi is always fresh and they don't skimp like other places do. the spicy tunaroll(my favourite) is to die for!! the staff are always very friendly and courtious, so i don't mind waiting for a bit as they are usually pretty busy. highly recommended!

got takeout, restaurant was clean and staff was very friendly. sashimi was fresh, chicken teriyaki was great and big portion. tempura and miso soup were yummy. sunomono was a bit different than usual...there was a small portion of dressing/sauce rather than the usual vinegar liquid it floats in - i still enjoyed it though! the ebi in the sunomono was good but had a slight fishy taste. californiarolland dynamiterollwere good but only complaint was rice was over cooked and mushy. they forgot my order of extra ginger but gave us a free can of coke so all is forgiven :). i would definitely go back. i am from vancouver and very picky with my sushi. this place was good.

best sushi. was worried when we moved to this end of town but was rewarded with the best taste and value in all of wpg. and i've tried loads of places. only one real table so takeout is the way to go. always ready on time and fast, even at busy times. super friendly and accommodating , have eaten my way through the menu and never been let down, except see below. all sushi is fresh and warm and the udon is great if you're feeling sick.rollcombos are the best value by far, i stay away from the special rolls as one is not enough and the portions are really small compared to the combos which are fantastic. the volcano is a disaster, the only one i've encountered, slathered in what tastes like spicy 1000 island- yech! the volcano at sushi cushi is what a volcano is all about.highly recommend !

not very traditional. i generally like "traditional" rolls that are single ingredient. the sushi from here seemed mostly fusionrollbased, and they had some very strange ingredients. i had leaf lettuce in onerollthat normally doesn't have anything leafy/green in it, and i had anotherrollpacked full or regular mayo??

the prices were good, and the ingredient quality seemed alright. the size of the rolls were average, but i cannot get over the weird ingredient choices that were put in my rolls.

tasty take out sushi. ordered edamame, veggie caterpillar roll, shitake maki, and a chicken katsurollfor the bf. it was very tasty and quite affordable. ready very quickly, and the staff were all very friendly, all 5 of them (3 chefs and 2 girls taking orders at the cash register) waved goodbye and cheerfully said have a good night as i left!

ki sushi.....killa. small takeout place worth the drive. never had a bad experience here. its north american sushi in its finest. not expensive and great tasting. sometimes the rolls are a tad loose, but that minimal complaint is made up for in the quality and taste.
volcanorollis worth the money, almost a small meal in itself.

very delicious & friendly staff. i may be biased because i'm a regular, but this is my favorite places to get sushi. now, no place in winnipeg has real authentic sushi (save for yujiro who has a japanese chef, perhaps there are more?). this place does have delicious north americanized sushi and other delicious japanese fanfare.

i really like their sushi. the rice is well seasoned and out together in perfect amounts. at times the nori on the rolls could be tighter, since they can fall apart. i don't mind since it is so good. i love any of the spicy rolls, since the sauce they use is one of the best spicy sauces i've tried. it is actually spicy and not overly so. my favoriterollis the spicy shrimp; it has a blended mix of cucumber shrimp and that special sauce.

i also love their takoyaki tastes like it from japan, except it is deep fried. but it is still delicious none the less. other great items are the tempura, salads and sashimi. they are well priced and have great taste. there are lots of choices to pick so you can try something new each time.

the inside of the restaurant part is rather small. the owner only had takeout to start and eat in was an afterthought. at times service can be slow since they are busy in the kitchen. they don't have a waitress staffed because the inside is small. it can be quite cramped for a restaurant like setting, so i usually opt for takeout. but if you do sit in the owner is really kind and will usually strike up a conversation.

everyone is always smiling and very kind. really delicious :)

not good. the rolls were poorly made, many pieces cam apart while picking them up. something was wrong with the salmon - you should not bite into hard bits when eating salmon. the bostonroll(cooked shrimp) had a very tiny amount of shrimp (about half the size of an average pinky finger nail) per piece. if you love the cucumber part of a roll, then this bostonrollwas right for you. i would have prepfered the normal amount of shrimp any other good sushi place would give. the salmon bakudan was drowned in a spicy mayo sauce. the soya sauce appears to have been watered down. not sure why they would do that.

impressed. to be honest i went to this place not expecting too much. often i find that people rant and rave about sushi restaurants and i end up hating them. my friend and i decided to try it out and i was pleasantly surprised. we ordered 4 rolls and some tempura and it was all very tasty. while we were waiting one of the employees brought us arollto sample and it was really delicious. though i do not think this place has mind-blowing sushi, i thought that it was good for the price and i would definitely go again.

people that actually know sushi - beware.. i decided to order from here as it's the closest sushi restaurant to my house, and my brother in law recommended it. urbanspoon reviews had also been very positive to date. i found someone else's review on here that had a copy of the menu. we decided to try the party tray for 4 which has 5 rolls and somewhere between 10 and 15 nigiri sushi. at $39.95 (from the photo on urbanspoon), it seemed like a good deal.

we called to place the order and found out that the prices had changed to $46.95 for the same item. ok, nobody's fault here. it's pretty normal for sushi places to increase their prices once they get a reasonable customer base. said it would be 25 minutes to pick up.

i waited the 25 minutes, then left to get it. the restaurant is small, seating only 6 people. the staff were friendly when i arrived and took my payment. i guess they were busy as it took an extra 20 minutes for the food to be ready. i was ok with this.

got the tray home and opened it up. very nice presentation. the rolls looked good, all on their side. nigiri was noticeably larger than pretty well all other sushi places in winnipeg.

after trying the first few pieces some things were very off. the rice didn't have the vinegar flavour to it that is normally associated with sushi rice. also, the soya sauce appeared to have been watered down. both of these things are key to the sushi experience for me. there was also something else i wasn't used to. cucumber. so much cucumber. i think the extra $7 price increase went directly to the cucumber budget. it was not great.

the nigiri sushi, aside from the rice issue listed above was very good. it was fresh and large portions. they have a menu item with 12 nigiri and a californiarollfor $15.95. i think this is probably the best value item on the menu.

all in all, i would not order here again, except for trying the nigiri/california combo listed above. izumi is still my number one pick for east kildonan sushi. the chef is japanese and trained with masa from masa/yujiro. prices are similar, and quality is far higher.

friendly service, quality fish, great value!. the prices at ki sushi are awesome. i stopped in near the end of their lunch rush for some take out, the staff was extremely friendly and attentive, despite it being quite busy. i ordered therollcombo (california and dynamite rolls, with 3 pieces each of tuna and salmon maki, with miso - $7.25) and a few pieces of nigiri (salmon - $1.25, chopped scallop - $1.50, and white tuna - $1.50). the fish portions were some of the most generous i've seen at a sushi restaurant in winnipeg, and the each was fresh and delicious. the rolls were also quite tasty, with not too much rice and generous fillings, especially in the maki.
