one of the best po-boys we had in nola.

nothing fancy about this place, small menu andgreatfood. agreatoption for a quick bite of a new orleans classic.

they also have some interesting flavour combinations, which is a refreshing change from the standard fried oyster.

this place was small, but they definitely had their own unique twist that made our visit worthwhile. these po'boys reminded me of vietnamese banh mi sandwiches. i tried the pork belly (amazing) and the shrimp...the pork belly had agreatflavor, but the shrimp was not as good as at domalise's. they were sauteed instead of fried, so they already had a disadvantage. my co-blogger pointed out that they were completely different genres so couldn't really be compared, but i did it anyway, and domalise's won!

great, just claustrophobic. if you can handle eating in a place that's the size of a prison cell, but all means, go. it's some of the best shrimp you'll ever eat.greatfrozen irish coffee as well.

find this place!. this place is great.

i've had every thing on the menu and nothing disappoints.

it's not your traditional poboy place (try parkway for that) but the guys at killer are using top-notch ingredients and infusinggreatflavors. i love it.

quite often, i find myself genuinely frustrated that i cannot offer choice food porn from wonderful restaurants due to bad lighting, a mediocre camera or simply a lack of photographic skill. this is one of those times. a little while back, john and i were in the french quarter and decided to hit killer poboys , a hot new pop-up inside the  erin rose bar on conti. it was just past 5 p.m. and the tiny bar was already full of devoted patrons, drinking and enjoying a football game on tv. we squished our way through to the back and placed our order at a small counter in a room eclectically decorated (like anygreatbar), replete with a colorful mural. sitting down at the only available bar stools, we sipped on abita ambers and waited for our food to appear.  before long, our poboys were ready and they were most definitely "killer" dude. john ordered the dark & stormy poboy with pork braised in old new orleans rum, lime slaw and garlic aioli. i must acknowledge its sloppy, wonderful tastines

unique and great. poboys are not to be tinkered with, so the belief goes in new orleans. while that holds true for some classics like the roast beef and shrimp, sometimes a little creativity in a food that's long in the tooth can go a long way. there aren't many good poboys to be had in the quarter and cbd. about the only one i can think of is johny's. so when i heard a new poboy place was opening down in the quarter i had to try.

it was a try not to be regretted. i had the moroccan lamb. with pickled carrots and mint it hit the spots of spicy and sweet and all that is between. if i had to describe its influences, i'd say 1/3 poboy, 1/3 bahn mi, 1/3 contemporary gourmet sandwich. parkway meets pho nola meets cochon butcher. less than $10 shows these guys are happy to be servinggreatfood for the sake of servinggreatfood. they aren't trying to become really rich like a lot of failed restaurants.

i'll be back!
