good but not overly impressive.

a smallish place that has a very portland trendy feel. the burger wasn't extra good in anyway. i wouldn't say no if someone asked me to go there but i wont seek this place out again.

went in for lunch at 11:30, was already very busy. the service was fine, but the food was mediocre at best. as far as i'm concerned it's overrated, and certainly not a repeat.

major screw-up but more than made up for. my wife suggested this place because she'd eaten at the killer burger in vancouver a few times. so, we drove over to the sellwood location for the peanut butter, pickle and bacon burgers and it so happened to be happy hour. after parking nearly a block away, we walked down and the place wasn't overly busy at late afternoon. we ordered the happy hour baskets, peanut butter burgers and two beers and gave them my name. the service was friendly and helpful. after paying, getting our beers and taking window seats we sipped on the great brews while waiting for our food. we didn't wait too long and our server came over with two plates with half burgers and golden fries.

interesting, i thought, happy hour meant half burgers, that's not a deal at $4.95 when the full deal was $7.95, and shouldn't it have said that happy hour baskets were half burgers?

so we bit in and discovered two things; the fried were wonderful, but the burgers were not what we ordered as they had cheese and no peanut butter, we'd been serves their "classic" burger, cut in half. we were both too hungry to let this mishap bother us and enjoyed what we had. about the time i was finished, a woman came over and asked how things were.

"well, they are really good, except that we ordered the peanut butter burgers and got the classic." she apologized and came back with a card that was good for a free burger basket at our next visit. now that's customer service.

a few minutes more pass and i hear my name called out. this can't be, but sure enough, the same guy that gave us our plates of fries and half classic burgers earlier was walking around with two plates full of those wonderful golden fried and full burgers.

"that's my name, but you gave us burgers and fried a good 20 minutes ago, and they were the wrong ones." we both wondered, did we get someone else's order originally or what?

long story short, we took home the two full burger baskets free of charge.
in the end, i'll recommend them because the classic burgers (half each) we did have were great and filling, the fries perfect (mcmenamins could take lessons) and beers and service excellent.

this was my 2nd location i've been to, and i had the same burger as i did in eugene. the barnyard! the consistency between locations was great! the burger was cooked perfectly and all the flavors went great together. the ham steak adds just enough width to the burger to make it borderline annoying, after a few bites i took it out. this location is smaller than the one in eugene but the vibe was the same. my only negative part was at both locations the music is just a little too loud, trying to carry a conversation across the table was difficult.
killer burger has become one of my top places for burgers, i'll be back for sure!

went to the sellwood location, first impression the music i liked, but the volume was so loud i had to shout just to  have a conversation with the person sitting next to me, even the fellow tending the till couldn't wanted it turned down but couldn't figure out how. the sanitation was not good. the wire and clips that are  under their menu  chalkboard are covered with dust and grease, the are just behind the till, it looks like a work station, it has napkins, straws forks and knives, however it was stacked full of employees personal item, hats, phones cigarettes a few small bags/ purses, looked more like your basic horizontal crap collector. now to the food, i'm sorry to say it's nothing what i would call great or killer. my daughter made the comment,  "it's really disappointing when you pay $10 or $12 for just a burger and you realize you could have gotten something as good or better by staying in your car, talking into a box and then driving up to the next window.

best place to get a burger in portland. the peanut butter pickle burger might sound a little odd, but is definitely one of the best tasting burgers you can get here. atmosphere is pretty chill, and i always get great service here. i make it one of my regular places to eat.

really great burgers and fries, with a so-so atmosphere. quick service, decent beer selection, creative burger choices. i'll go back, but maybe take out instead of sit in!

peanut butter on a burger! yes!. the oregonian ranked this as the best burger in town, so we had to try it. we went to the happy hour which offers the peanut butter pickle bacon burger or the killer burger for $5.95 from 2-5 pm m-f with bottomless fries.

loved the french fries! skin on and so crisp and yummy. best i've had in a long time.

the killer burger was delicious from the bite i was able to get from my hubby. i had the pbpb and oh it was good! the bun is just right and the 1/3lb. burger was cooked to perfection and every burger has bacon on it! the peanut butter is soft and flavorful in every bite. pickles are crisp and crunchy and full of flavor.
we are definitely coming back!

music was loud, but great selections to rock and chew by. service was very good, too.

only downside us they're closed on sunday. but that is okay as family business and they need their time, too.

no shakes ....soda and beer. two tvs to watch the duck games! will be back back. 4 out of 5.

great burgers! incredible fries!. reasonably priced, even more reasonable during "hamburger happy hour." you wait 15 minutes or so, because this is not fast food -- it is fresh and cooked to order. a un place, not fancy at all, but very satisfying.
