it's my second day inamritsarand i love the city more & more with my visit. a newly made friend of mine who hails fromamritsaronly, guided us to this 100+ year old dhaba located in the midst ofamritsarmarket where your car can't reach. if you crave for something, u will have to get it wit efforts and we have to walk around 1 - 1.5 kms to reach the place. it pretty looked like 100 year old dhaba , though interiors have been renovated and open kitchen is as big as the seating area. we grabbed a seat in the corner and was going through the menu, but then i had a sudden thought, y to put so much efforts when my friend is there and we went ahead with his recommendation. we ordered 4 lacche parathe, dal makhani and kadhai paneer (added my me 😛 which was jst okaish). the items were served in around 10 mins. paratha was looking amazing and as soon he served it, he squeezed the paratha, i understand the reason of doing it is getting the makhan infused in it. we distributed the items in small bowls served wit it. laccha paratha was super delicious and when i had the bite of dal makhani, it was out of the world, putting a word to it won't be enough so i jst leave it as described - a taste which i cn never forget. dal makhani was having bhar bhar ke ghee and i think the tadka that was put along with the preparation is itself making it amazing. we ordered another plate of dal. while writing this, i cn still feel the taste of dal makhani. if anyone ask me to visit here again for dal makhani, i will be more than just happy to travel.
how can a meal be complete, without having a sweet. so, we ordered phirni and it turned out to the best decision. served in a plate of clay and bit chilled. amazing taste for closure. all this for a very reasonable or i would say at much low price.

worst shahi paneer ever. swaad to tha hi nhi bas pani or namak or paneer, kesar is so renowned inamritsarfor their food but the shahi paneer was a total waste of money today. spoilt the excitement and appetite.

taste - 4/5
portion - 5/5
ambience - 4/5
service - 4/5
value for money - 5/5

serving amazing north indian food, this dhaba is located in the narrow streets ofamritsarnear hathi gate.

the ambience & the vibe of the place are traditional. due to being overcrowded at all times, there is a slight waiting time that has to be experienced.

out of the menu limited to their expertise, i had the thali which turned out to be enough for 2 people.
the food was delicious and filling. generous ghee enhanced the taste & the star of the thali was the most famous dal fry.

tried their phirni too and the meal couldn't have ended better.

well, after recommendations by everyone inamritsarwe went there. unfortunately, will have to say that better and yummy daal makhani can be made at home. infact if you are from delhi or north india, the taste would be sub-par. atleast, it was that for me. not at all tasty, there was no flavour of creamy daal makhani that i relate to always. it was just ghee tadka and bland daal.. palak paneer was also regular, just oily much. overall disappointed with the dhaba, not at all upto expectation. maybe the food would be popular years ago, as then only limited restaurants were there. i would suggest not to go there and find better tasty food elsewhere.

since i went to this place specially on my visit toamritsarcouple of days back...few observations that i would like to share are:
1. over hyped place.nothing special about any of their dishes since we had most of the dishes recommended on this video.
2. waiting for good food is acceptable however wait for average food is not and they make you wait for 15-20 mins atleast since the place is over hyped.first it would take 20 mins for you to get a table and then 20 mins more for the food to be delivered on your table.so 40 mins atleast before you get your food after reaching this place.
3. again as the place is over crowded, the staff will also not give you the treatment as you expect once you reach a restaurant.
4. since this youtuber karan dua does most of the paid promotions i believe the reviews are manipulated and not genuine. try "pritam meat" wala in hari nagar for whom he has made a review saying that the food is very good.you will come to know on your own if the review is genuine or not.
5. for me this place was 2 star and just touching average.

most of the reviews for this place are just due to the hype. this dhaba is extremely overhyped.
i had my lunch here today. after waiting outside for a fair amount of time, when finally in, we ordered their most famous dal, palak paneer & bharta. honestly i was so hungry but none of the dishes had anything special. in fact, not even one dish was actually tasty. all of those were just full of oil. the paneer was actually rubbery & not soft at all. only the phirni we ordered as dessert was good. there is no way i am going back again.
there are many dhabas inamritsarwhich have way better food. if you are caught up in the hype, feel free to go.
