eggs benedict. 10 different kinds of eggs benedict, fast service,goodcoffee, what more could you want? the place is crazy on the weekends though.

such poor service it was funny.. we were seated quickly by the host and served some complimentary bread by someone who kinda tossed it on the table..haha..after about 10mins of no server in the section we were in, we kinda started to wonder if we had one. to pass the time i was busy watching the servers across the room terrible body language and attitude (eyes rolling at customers when the front door opened/slamming down menus in menu holder by kitchen). finally a lady came and took our order (15-20mins after being sat). food came quickly and it was enjoyable, exactly what i was expecting. if we did have an issue with the food it would of been a problem because our server never bothered to come back for a quality check. after finishing our meals she came to the table to cleared both plates without saying a word..hahahahah who does that !?!? didnt ask how it was, didnt ask if we wanted anything else, just took the plates and walked away...she came back about 5mins later and asked if we were ready to pay..
i get the impression that you only get attentive service here if you a regular who has been coming for at least 5 years. needless to say the food wasgoodbut i will never come back.

the first time i’ve been here and rodney suggested the bat of of hell, meatloaf and eggs. it was great! super friendly staff,goodservice andgoodfood!

after having heard so manygoodthings about john’s place, we were both disappointed with our experience. from the long wait times, to the mediocre food, it just felt as if something were missing. perhaps our expectations were too high going in, or perhaps with years of success under their belts, they have become complacent with their breakfast staples. i’d be willing to give them another shot if offered the opportunity, but i wouldn’t seek it out.

angryrussian had heardgoodthings about john’s place and apparently, it’s a pretty iconic victoria brunch spot, so we had to check it out. by the time we got to john’s place at around 9am, they already had a line up 2 party deep. we waited about 15-20 minutes for a table.

not sure about breakfast but tried twice for lunch and not good. first time, chicken in salad undercooked -gross! and, although server was reallygoodabout apologizing and providing gift card, it stilltook almost an hour and a half to have lunch. 
went again with gift card and food was cooked but i still wasn't v. good. no need to go back.

very pleasant ambience to begin with. kind service makes you feelgoodabout yourself and the best part is the food which is amazing as well.
ordered meatloaf and poutine and both we amazing dishes that are recommended as well

came here for breakfast under the recommendation of husbands coworker. was very busy for 11am on monday morning. husband ordered the eggs benedict on corn bread - said it wasgoodbut heavy. i ordered the french toast stuffed with nutella and banana with whipped cream on the side. was verygoodbut very rich and heavy.goodoverall experience.

this place is pretty good. they havegoodfood andgoodservice. it's always agoodtime! the prices are great too, specially for their signature drinks!

oh my goodness is the food evergoodhere especially the brunch. it is a rather tight place since they've tried to squeeze as many seats as they can in there though. but it is popular for agoodreason. the servings are filling, the staff is nice, the decor is quirky and interesting, and the breakfast is great.
try their maple syrup cream cheese mix!

can't beat them for breakfast. we have eaten here numerous times for breakfast and the food is alwaysgoodand consistent..this place is always busy and you are lucky to not have to wait for a table..so it's understandable that service does take a little longer but it's worth the wait..

john’s place has been serving breakfast, lunch and dinner for the past 30 years in victoria, bc. they make all their dishes from scratch. they were also featured on food network’s you gotta eat here . they are best known for the fair prices and huge portions. i was here for a work trip with a few coworkers and someone suggested we should have breakfast here. it’s located right in the heart of downtown victoria. they have tons of pictures covering all their walls, so you will have tons to look at. there are posters, pictures and celebrity messages on the walls. there’s agoodamount of seats for small group and larger groups. caffe mocha  ($4.25) comes in a big mug and there is a lot of foam. hot jasmine tea ($1.95) came in a teapot and the servers do come by and refill the pot with hot water with no additional charge. the blackstone benny (1/2 order – $9.95) is topped with grilled tomatoes, bacon, soft poached egg and hollandaise sauce. i had it served with a side of fruit. the regular ordered seemed pretty big for breakfast. the butter hollandaise is quite rich and you can really taste the butter. the 222 headache ($10.95) with a belgian waffle, scrambled eggs, 2 chorizo patties. we also ordered a side of their cream cheese sauce, which is amazing on everything. overall, it’s a cool place to go to if love breakfast. we came here around 8:30am on a saturday, so we didn’t run into any lineups. we rate john’s place : address: 723 pandora ave victoria, bc website: http://johnsplace.ca/ more food reviews on foodology .

nah. too packed. birthday singing was shrill and ingratiating. cornbread isgoodthough. pies are nice, prices are alright. but not the best experience overall. been a few times. servers were nice though.

dinner was good. we got poutine and the oriental salad portions weregoodprices were decent.
servers were attentive and friendly.
