neighborhood gem. alas the johnnie of johnnie's tavern passed a while ago. but the place is still a gem of a find just east of the chain frenzy that is hilliard-rome rd. theburgersare as good as advertized and, indeed, the onion rings are a plus on the side as opossed to a nuisance. happy hour is 3-7 monday through friday and would be my recommended time to visit. not for the half priced appetizers which are certainly acceptable, especially at two dollars, but with beer specials and two dollar well drinks, it is worth the stop. the beers are definitely ice cold and the drinks, even at full price which is a whopping three dollars, are easily as potent as two drinks at most other places. the service is friendly and always a pleasure to see. they have a decent lunch crowd and sitting space is definitely at a premium. also, their hours are somewhat sporadic so calling ahead would be a good suggestion. by the way, i take my kids in and have never had a problem doing so, in fact quite the opposite. these are down home folks with a "come on in, good to see ya," atmosphere.
