my husband and i have gone to joeys regularly for years. we recently went with a large group for a christmas party. each time we go to joey's, we order filet mignon with the mushroom jus. when my steak arrived it was half the size it should have been, 4 oz tops. i sent it back, the manager came back insisting it was 7 oz. pointing to the gentleman next to me whoordereda new york steak, telling me not to expect my steak to be the size of the new york steak. the manager was politely insulting. treated me like a moron. i precook my meals each week, measuring out my protein portions, i know what 7 oz looks like. we won't be back!

horrible food and horrible service! manager was told about the steaks we hadorderedthat we're ice cold and did nothing to the bill and seemed to shrug it off. the re make steaks were ok still not hot and my filet was full of tendons the manager then asked how it was and i said i couldn't eat the steak as i couldn't cut through it with the tendons he then asked "well was everything else ok?" i had to laugh because yes i guess the semi warm vegetables were decent i could of made better ones. overall a very big disappointment. i even emailed to tell someone who mayen cared about how horrible it was and no one would take accountability. i will not return.

have been here a couple times, and this time is during a dinner with a friend, and ordered, an appetizer and my friendordereda steak i think, and yes, the price is definitely okay, and her steak, can't remember which one sheorderedbut it definitely tasted alright, the firmness the juiciness of medium rare is all correct. and the simple seasoning should all there is to it. overall it's decent place to go for, like all other joeys as well. decent but nothing that i crave much from the place. great service as well *thumbs up.

for starters, weorderedthe yam fries and ahi tuna tacos to share. for the entree, mamallama, baby-paca and i ended up ordering the steak frites, my older sister got the lobster and prawn ravioli. the yam fries came sprinkled with grated grana padano (a cheese that tasted like parmesan) and were delicious with the aioli that it came with. the slight tang from the lemon made the aioli less heavy than other mayonnaise-based sauces. i love the decadent earthy aroma of truffles. truffles just makes (almost) everything taste better. for the tuna tacos, the seared rare ahi tuna was served on a flat little deep fried tortilla with coleslaw, and a light wasabi aioli. the shell was crisp without being oily or greasy and it was nicely salted. the tuna was complimented well by the coleslaw, which had an acidic ginger dressing. you could tell that the vegetables in the coleslaw were fresh as the sweetness in the cabbage comes through. the only downside is that the aioli didn’t have that kick you’d expect from the wasabi. it only tasted faintly of wasabi, it wasn’t spicy at all. eating it was also a little messy because the taco shell was piled pretty high with coleslaw and the shell crumbles on you. as for our steak frites, the cab prime sirloin was topped with parsley butter, with a side of rocket greens and fries. baby-paca and i added blue cheese butter on the side (additional $3 each) as the flavor of the parsey butter is kind of mild and lacked a bit of sodium, we preferred something stronger with more richness. the steak came like weorderedit, medium rare. it was juicy and pink on the inside, but it was still a little chewy. prime sirloins are known for being the most flavourful cut of meat, but it is also not the most tender cut of meat. the steaks were considerably small (5oz) compared to the steaks we’re used to seeing, but honestly, for $20 it’s still a good deal and the portion on our plates were definitely enough to fill us up. the rocket greens (arugula) were wilted by the balsamic dressing and had a shiny sheen to it that put me off slightly, but it was tasty without that bitterness that usually accompanies arugula. they were also super generous with the fries, which i enjoyed. some people may prefer them more crispy, but i like the mushy kind of fries (they were kind of like mc donald’s mushy fries but less salty).

excellent services, terrible soup. went there for lunch on wednesday w. colleagues.

iordereda mushroom cheddar burger w. their moroccan chicken soup (the only soup they have for the day). one of my colleaguesorderedlobster grilled cheese sandwich, also w. the soup. so funny that her soup was very different from mine (hers was with more chicken, less spicy, less color....)

i have to say that my soup was really terrible - extremely greasy and salty, very spicy you could see a thick, orange colored layer of oil on top of the soup. it looked like a bowl of 'sauce' than 'soup'! i could only 'sip' about 1/4 of it and had to stop. so disappointed! i had not filed any complaint though because i did not want to ruin the overall atmosphere of this lunch gathering.

the burger was good. overall service was excellent!

felt really thirsty afterwards.

may still go again to try something else, but for sure, i will stay away from their yucky soup!

for my meal iorderedthe ahi tuna club. this is my favourite item at joey and something i have had on a few different occasions. the sandwich is made with a thick slab of grilled rare tuna. the tuna is really meaty and it makes a great protein for the sandwich because it is so tender. it is also filled with thick cut crispy bacon and panko breaded onion rings. both of these items add a nice crunch to the sandwich. onion rings on anything automatically make it good. i like that the sandwich is filled with arugula instead of just lettuce.  sandwic
