good, but overpriced!!. went to joey again recently with a friend. for some reason i have never been a huge fan myself, but all my friends seem to rave about it. if you eat vegetarian and notice there is almost nothing you can eat on the menu, ask for the vegetarian menu, which offers some of the regular dishes with soy "chicken" strips instead of real meat.
my friend and i started off with the lettuce wraps, which were tasty albeit being a little too salty. my other complaint was that there were more noodles than vegetables in the filling and as typical of most restaurants, not enough filling for all the lettuce given (the lettuce and filling come separate and you wrap it yourself).
for my entree i had the soy beach salad (minus the goat cheese), which was a large salad full of lettuce, soy "chicken" meat, strawberries, avocado, candied pecans, and a sprinkling of quinoa. i thought it would have been heavier and contained more quinoa. the non-dairy lemon poppyseed dressing came on the side and it was pretty tasty. overall the salad was very good tasting and filling (although i did have half an appetizer, so not sure how filling it would be on its own). my friend ordered raviolis and enjoyed her meal very much.
my biggest complaint would be that my meal of half an appie and a salad came to over $25. add in the tip and my bill was just shy of $30 for one person, and that was with only having water to drink. service was great and food was good, but $25 for half order of lettuce wraps and a salad? too expensive for me personally for being a chain restaurant!

much better. i thought my last experience at joey's would be the last (see my previous review). surprisingly, joey's cares about their image and service and i was contacted a couple weeks after i had posted my review. they asked for my phone number and i was called by the bar manager who sincerly apologized. she wanted me to come back and said she would bend the no reservations policy for my party and "take care of us". i was just happy with the apology and that someone took the time to acknowledge and listen to my problem.
anyways, my friends insisted going to joey's for dinner last night. i decided to give it another go. service was very prompt and friendly. i had a viva salad which was packed full of feta cheese, cranberries, granny smith apple, and roasted chicken. while i still think $15.49 is expensive for a salad, this one was huge and filled me up--worth the price.
so overall, with being given an apology for the awful service last visit, and the good service and food this most recent visit, i wouldn't hesitate recommending joey's to anyone.

gone downhill. since it opened i've been to joey's in polo park about 5 times and always had great food and service. however, yesterday was a different story. my bf and i went around 9pm and since there was a long wait for the patio opted to sit inside the half empty dining room. after being seated quickly we looked over the menu, which it seems they had shortened and increased the prices on. $13.99 for a burger and fries? $16.99 for an entree salad consisting only of vegetables? all of the appetizers pretty much over $10? now i will shell out money for quality food but this is a chain restaurant full of processed ingredients competing with moxie's and earls etc. who last time i checked didn't have such extravagent prices. anyways, the prices didn't matter because after waiting at our table for 10 minutes without a singleserverstopping by we decided to leave, and will never be coming back!

fab-u-las. joey's at polo park.
excellent excellent!
really couldn't fault it.........great service,i couldn't make up my mind what i wanted and theservereven offered to help me make up my mind with some suggestions as to what i would like.
great decor and the food was higher quality, prices were just a tad higher than original joe's{ eg: beef dip $15.00 as to $ 17.00 } but wow what a difference. great value for money and over all experience of being treated well, really nice to know that customers are still valued by some business, its rather unfortunate that a lot of business don't seem to care anymore.
this restaurant will defiantly be in the high scores of places to eat.

i went for dinner sunday night and had one of the worst serving experience. ourserverwas a tall male, joe or george or something like that, who took well over 20 minutes to take our order, our drink order wasn't even taken by him. we sat with dirty plates, which again was not cleared by him and i waited to get my bill and pay forever. for the price you expect a lot more, the only reason i'm giving it 2 stars is because the food was good.

came here for lunch with a friend the other day as it had been a while since we both had visited.
i ordered the fettuccine alfredo which was pretty good. the pasta was cooked al dente which is how i like my pasta, but the sauce, i was hoping for more of a cream sauce..
however, i did enjoy their version of the dish too.
the arugula and mini tomatoes were a nice addition from the typical fettuccine alfredo you'd find at other restaurants.

my friend ordered the baha tacos and she enjoyed her dish as well.

overall i was pleased with my visit. service was pretty good too. water glasses we're always topped up and ourserverchecked up on us often.
will come visit it again

deserves a second chance. my husband had a sushi and steak plate, very tasty, presented well but the steak could be more, very few pieces in there, we're willing to pay more for more meat. i had steak with prawns again very tasty, beautiful presentation, i think the deep fried mashed potatoes in a shell is very creative, never had something like that before, i didn't like the steak, i had to send it back because i asked for a med well but got a close to rare steak, i like my steak a little crusty on the outside and a little pink inside but istead i got a very pink on the inside steak with still some blood oozing out of the center, gross! ourserverwas quick to ask if a want a new plate and their manager gave me a salad on the house as i wait, i got the new plate, didn't had to wait very long but this time the steak was overcooked it was a bit tough for me to cut through and became dry, i didn't complain because i will seriously loose my appetite if i had to wait again for another plate. ourserverwas excellent, sevice is great but the food nahhh.. overall the experience would've been better if the steak hadn't ruined it for me. this isn't the place for you if you have a little one like us, they don't have any high chairs. the hostess seemed clueless on where to sit us when we came in. she picked a table for us front and center of dinners in pairs and whenever our little one will make a fuss about something, they will just give us the look. it like made us feel that a couple like us with a kid is not allowed to have a good time in a place like this. we will go back and give this place another chance without our lil one next time, we just wanted to come in as a family tonight to celebrate my husband's birthday because we haven't done anything in a while as a family.

decent food, exceptional service. went here wednesday night as part of the celebration for my girlfriend's 3 year anniversary of coming to canada.
the moment we walked in we were greeted, seated, given menus and had our drink our taken. now, they weren't very busy (late on a wednesday) so i can't say from personal experience if it would be the same, but still a good start. i had to ask for our waters a second time, but i think they were just waiting for the glasses to finish washing because they came out warm (the glass, not the water). and our waters were full the entire time we were there.
we ordered the edamame & baja fish tacos for appetizers. we were told that the edamame were quite spicy, and being spicy food lovers we were excited. unfortunately, they were not spicy at all. however, they still had great flavour and were cooked nicely. the tacos were great. i don't really care for seafood, but all the flavours went together quite nicely. the sauce they came with was spicy, perfect for us. didn't need too much of it. on the last bite, my girlfriend found in her mouth what was either onion/ginger peel or a piece of paper. we showed it to the server, just so they were aware (we didn't expect anything from them, it was the last bite). ourserverapologized many times, and we were given another order and had them taken off the bill (so we didn't pay for either order). the only thing i might criticize about how they handled the situation is theservertold us the kitchen thinks it may have just been a piece of breading from the fish. we knew this wasn't true because my girlfriend found it in her mouth, couldn't bite it and you could bend it without it breaking. this however is just a minor thing, they handled it very well.
for our mains, she had the sirloin steak & prawn skewer, i had the peppercorn new york. both steaks were cooked perfectly, medium rare. i thought the seasoning on mine was just right, she thought it was a little excessive. but that's just her personal preference. the sauce for my new york was alright. in small amounts it was good, but i wouldn't pour it on my steak. her prawns were also delicious. great flavour, cooked nicely (i'm quite sure they were poached, but who knows), presented beautifully. we also enjoyed the mashed potatoes. good texture, seasoned well. they came inside a spring roll which added a really nice crunch. these potato spring rolls also had melted cheese and whatever else on them, a nice touch. our veg was a mix of roasted vegetables, they were good. considering the rest of the food, it's best they kept the veg simple otherwise it would just be too over complicated.
so, in conclusion the food was pretty good (much better then i thought, being a chain restaurant) and the service was near flawless. would definitely go back and recommend to someone else.

the food presentation & taste was delicious. don't order a margarita though since they don't have a blender it's just juice with massive ice cubes for $8.30! also theserverwas not bright as she brought me a diet coke even though i told her i was allergic to aspertame and decided to drink regular coke after the terrible "margarita". the crispy potatoes were so interesting and different, like deep fried mashed potatoes in a shell. very tasty. steak was prepared well. good chefs. terrible waitress.

i eat at joeys often, and i usually dine at the kenaston location. i was shopping at polo and wanted a quick bite to eat, and i absolutely love joey's appetizers and big salads (i am a huge seinfeld fan also, so i applaud the reference). but my experience tonight was just horrid. i am aserverand manager of a local restaurant, so i understand sometimes people are just tired by the end of their shift, but it does not warrant the abrupt, condescending, insincere service i received tonight. myserver(devin) was so short with my friend and i that we had to call her back to the table three times before we could get our order in. prior to that, this is how she took our order: "do you want any drinks?" "food?" all while leaning on my table with her hands close to my friend and i. very unprofessional. i wouldn't have been so bothered had i not heard her talking to her other tables. "hello, how are you doing this evening? excellent, may i grab you something to drink? let me tell you all about our specials tonight!"
when we were checked on, we were asked "how is everything", and when we replied with a very enthusiastic "good thank you so much!" she replied with an incredibly insincere "greaaaaat...."
the only time devin was nice to us was when it came time to pay, and time to tip. i am always a fantastic tipper (20-25% depending on service) but i tipped her 10% (they tip out and the bartender and cooks work hard). the only thing that made this night worse was watching the floor manager and 4 other servers stand around talking about their nights planned.
to say the least, i will definitely choose earl's over joey next time i'm in the polo park area.

fabulous!. i went here with my boyfriend on a saturday night. we walked in at 6:30 and was told there was only a 7 minute wait. we waited no longer than 10 minutes, and while we were waiting, they offered us a wine sample. the hostesses were super friendly and nice, and greeted us when we entered and as we left. it was very much unlike earl's, the staff does not cater to one sex (men) and many of the staff came to check on us. as soon as we were finished, someone was there to take the plates away. we ordered appetizers, and we actually had time to finish our appetizers before our meals came out. it is a tad expensive, but definitely worth it. it's reflected in the décor (very beautiful, including the stunning display of alcohol bottles above the bar) and the food is very well presented. i had the caesar salad for my appetizer, and it was the best caesar salad i have ever had in my entire life. then i had the salmon, which was absolutely delicious. don't be alarmed that they leave the skin on one side of the fillet, it makes it taste soooo much better! ourservereven recommended options for us! what a great experience!

better than expected. last friday, i tried the lounge here. i was expecting to get the typical crummy service i usually get at earl's because i'm not a man, but i was pleasantly surprised to receive the exact opposite. the femaleserverwas attentive and friendly, a nice change from disinterest and being ignored. she seemed like the type who would be a good server, regardless of the customer's age, gender, etc.

when i couldn't decide what to order and asked what she would recommend, she suggested the pesto flatbread. she came over awhile later and explained that there was some delay with the food (which i didn't even notice, so i wasn't upset about it.) my flatbread had sat out too long and went cold, so they were making a new one, which tasted incredible! in the end, she didn't charge me for it because the staff felt bad for the inconvenience. i'd have paid for it anyway, but the gesture was certainly appreciated.

i don't normally give large tips because i don't get exceptional service deserving of it, but this girl got 20% from me for treating me like i mattered and wanting to do whatever it took to make (and keep) the customer happy.

please keep up the good service!

went on a saturday night and was told waiting would be 37 minutes!! but we we're seated in just 5 minutes, and it was super full. ordered a burger, and my fiends ordered the ribs and the chicken souvlaki. the orders came in not even 15 minutes and my burger was huge i couldn't even fit it in my mouth, it was so good too, same with the ribs and the souvlaki, we all tried each others dishes. my friend got a strawberry margarita and it was like $7 but it was so yummy and was pretty big too . all in all the experience was great and ourserverwas super nice too! i highly recommend this place, it is a must eat, must try place.

great for drinks and appys. a group of us had decided to meet here for some drinks and appys prior to our company christmas party last night. we sat in the year round patio section which was nice but we all found the chairs uncomfortable and a little too short for the table.
anyway ourserverwas prompt and very friendly with our drinks and appetizers came out quickly too. we sampled the goat cheese and crab dip (which was rather pungent drowning out any crab flavour), the chili chicken (yum), the dry ribs (also yummy) and of course the lettuce wraps which came with i'm sure a whole head of lettuce !! good quality of ingredients.
would definitely go back and see what the rest of the menu is all about !

so close. i used to quite like going to joeys. i cannot eat gluten or dairy, and the first time i went to joeys, they gave me a separate gluten free menu. i really liked that, because trying to explain the problem to aserveris usually very tedious. also, having a separate menu for gluten free dished spares me the task of going through each menu item with the "allergy binder" provided by most places. the last time i went there, they no longer provide a gluten free menu. they have little icons on the regular menu indicating which items "can" be prepared gluten free. however, since the change i am now reduced to 2 choices. and both require substitutions because of diary. otherwise, the food was always good. i'm not sure why it became an issue to have a seperate menu. it sure was nice to not have to go through the standard 20 min explanation.
