both locations share similar vibes, that of a cleaned up surf shack but adapted to their surroundings: the palisades location, tucked away in the sleepy suburbs, has a definite family bent, looking much like a sandy restaurant in a jersey shore beach town; while the foggy bottom location, a former juice zone next to a baja fresh is more suited to the office lunch crowd, with the polish of a santa monica walk-in. still, the look is the same: some nice use of honey-colored wood, chalkboard menus, a sandwich shop counter set-up.

first time stopping by this sandwich shop - best lobster role i've ever had. light on the bread. light on the sauce. heavy on the lobster. excellent! great place for a lobster roll!

if in the vicinity of the national cathedral and you need an ice cream fix, try jetties. not as many flavors as howard johnson;s but enough to satisfy most folks. cones, cups, etc.

the food is pretty good. so why one star? i am a vet who uses a service dog. when i ordered my sandwich, the cashier asked if he was a service dog. i responsed yes and added that i have a medical condition for which he is trained to assist - the ada allowed questions. the cashier said it was fine. i sat down.

a man walked in with his children and said in a loud voice - " there are no dogs allowed in here". i thought he was a customer harassing me. i said "he's a service dog and i informed the cashier." the man looked at cashier who nodded in agreement. the man said he was the owner. he then said that my dog should have a vest on him. not required by the ada or any other law. he is marked as a service dog on his harness and leash. most of us would gladly not advertise we have a disability and trade our service dog for a pet.

i engaged the owner in a discussion that perhaps he may want to first ask whether the animal is a service dog, instead of ignorantly dismissing his disabled customers. as a business owner in an area with many service dogs, he just did not seem to get it or care. during the entire meal, my dog sat quietly by my table, as he is trained to do.

the food is good. bravo to the sandwich artists! the owner is rude. i encourage any vet or anyone with a service dog to eat elsewhere.

jetties makes the largest sandwiches i have ever seen. the meat, vegetables, sauce, and thick cut bread are piled high--and i love it. at jetties, located in the foxhall neighborhood of georgetown (i'm not even sure if it is still technically "georgetown" but i'm just going to go with it), has a relaxing summery beach vibe that carries on all throughout the year. the jetties indoor space itself is small, but the outdoor seating gives it a more expansive presence. this picture is not my own. it is owned by  © jetties and you can find it at  http://www.jettiesdc.com/www/about.html in terms of their menu offerings, the sandwiches are their bread and butter (pun intended) but they also make salads, soups, platters, and ice cream. but getting back to the sandwiches. all of jetties signature sandwiches are interesting and unique, especially the nobadeer, which is thanksgiving in a sandwich. the nobadeer is made with thick slices of chewy sourdough bread, fresh thick cut turkey that you can w

jetties is a cozy dc establishment, with a quaint atmosphere and the special added touch of a retro ice cream counter. when you walk in, you immediately feel comfortable, and to order, you fill out a form with either made-to-order selections of your choosing, or a sandwich/salad/soup from the chalkboard list.

wide assortment of amazing sandwiches. jettie's has a wide assortment of amazing sandwiches. i am 90% through their sandwich menu and they are all awesome. the tom nevers is outstanding and followed by a homemade arnold palmer and some cape cod chips makes for a great lunch.

reviews i read before my adventure to jetties mentioned that it's pricy. the sandwich prices are fine, but it all adds up...

great sandwiches, slow service. jetties is (for a sandwich place) pricey and slow. but its sandwiches are not to miss- they are all delicious and made with fresh ingredients. if you're driving on foxhall before or after peak lunch service, i highly recommend stopping by.
