only few cuisines can match the sumptuous feeling one gets after having lebanese food. jasmine 1 is known for the generous portions of delectable kebabs that it offers at a reasonable price. the following review will focus on key components of taste, service and value for money.
when it comes to kebabs, the more variety the better. we ordered a small mashawi to get a taste of the three prominent kebabs served at jasmine 1. out of the three kebabs (shish kebab, shish tawook and kafta skewer), the shish tawook stood out, followed by the kafta skewer. while the shish tawook was simply succulent, the kafta skewer could have been more tender and the shish kebab was quite chewy. after getting a brief taste of the kebabs, we ordered a popular appetiser called sujuk. sujuk consists of slicedlambsausages with a hint of spice, not too overpowering. it goes really well with the garlic dip, and is strongly recommended. further, we ordered individual plates of the aforementioned kebabs as we could not get enough of them. the meal was ended with kabseh lamb, a preparation of aromatic rice with a generous, flavorful chunk of lamb. a good meal can be rated the best by the smile on a person's face post-consumption, and i had a big gleaming smile on my face post-meal.
however, the smile was cut short at the end because of rude service. a sumptuous meal was tarnished by ignorance of the staff, and that's one of the only few negatives about this restaurant.
the food portions were generous, and are great value for money. the restaurant offers family-friendly ambience, and a slightly more amicable service will make this restaurant a potential favourite in the area.
overall, the ratings would be -
food - 7.5/10
ambience - 6/10
service - 4/10
value for money - 8/10
p.s. - the spiced bread along with the hommous makes for a great snack!
