you walk in and are ignored then you wait 15 minutes and still no acknowledgment so you leave. fun times.

this is the worst place i have ever been to! the manager randy is the most unprofessional person i have ever met in my life. do not go there!!! have never been so offended in my life! texas is not what i thought it was. so disappointing.

bottom line:
nothing really exceptional here.

details:
had the jake’s burger; two patties with the usual sides, plus thousand island dressing on the burger. also had their fries; also sampled their sweet potato fries.

the burger was over cooked despite it being ordered as medium rare. the lettuce was warm, not crisp. the thousand island dressing was a bit overdone—it really made the bun soggy extremely quick.

the regular fries were way too salty, but the sweet potato fries were extremely good. thus place was packed, tending to attract more of the sports-oriented crowd; it can get too loud for the casual diner.

i’m torn on whether i’ll be back because it was more than i would spend on mediocre food.

service was great, good atmosphere. the family and i were looking for a breakfast spot in grapevine and everywhere was packed out and had long waits. we settled on jakes and we got seated immediately. our waitress was very fast and attentive and the food was awesome! great pancakes and my little girl loved the cheese grits. i highly recommend it if you are visiting grapevine.

the place has potential to be great. no wings on the menu, which takes away from a sports bar tradition. also, the bartender tonight has been on her cell phone all of my time here. you have to ask her to step away from the phone to get an order in. though having easy walking access to the downtown crowd, the place is less than 1/4 full during prime game and dinner hours. that says a lot.

first visit to this location and i find it, like the others, a cool place to meet friends for a drink and a bite to eat. a fun atmosphere, full bar, but still a comfortable place for those that are more interested in a casual, restaurant setting.  the food is always good - i had the bacon and bleu cheese, which got somewhat messy, but good nonetheless. the place is clean, festive and inviting and the service was fast and friendly. a good landing or gathering place when meeting up with friends in the area.

jake's is a mixed bag for me.  i like the decor.  it's relaxing and kind of fun.  i could see going here for happy hour or just hanging out with friends for a burger and a beer.  the three servers working today look beautiful, but have an attitude that says "i wish i was anywhere but here."  they wear very tight revealing clothes a bit like daisy duke.

the meat in the hamburger is missing.  they put a thin patty that might be an 1/8 inch thick.  a single patty on the single meat is too small.  the onion coins were thicker than the meat.  the bun was massive.  all of this added up to a huge burger with no flavor from the meat.  i tried the bacon bleu.  it had two patties, but it was still very thin compared to the rest of the burger.  i will give major kudo's to the poppy seed bun, bacon and bleu cheese.  it was so good.  if only they had a thick juicy patty!  i actually think the fries are better than the burger.  they appear to be double fried.  they had a firm crust but retained the potato flavor and had just the right amount of salt.

given the tiny size of the patties, i probably will not be back.  if they add real meat, this would be a rockin burger.

very good burgers and fries!!!! they have a lot of different beers and also good breakfast. it's on the higher side price wise but the burgers are really good.

oh yeah, when its burger and a beer time-it's jake's time. these guys have been around for decades going head to head with kellers burgers in east dallas. the burgers are big and juicy cooked just right. not to salty as other burger joints can be. atmosphere is mor pub than neighborhood hang out. take the kids in for lunch; take the friends in for kick back and hang out time. the sweet potato fries are pretty darn good!

come hungry and be ready to enjoy. my family had 3 different types of burger and all were tasty.

excellent burgers. great seasoning and great flavor. fast service.

awful waitress. well first off, the waitress did not bring any of the waters my group ordered. next, she took all of our orders and read them back to us before she left. they were all correct, but when the food arrived 3 of our 4 meals were wrong. i never received my french fries and they were still on my bill at the end of the meal. lastly, the waitress brought me a second beer of the wrong beer.

to rap the night up, she apologized for mixing our orders up with the following excuse, "sorry, i just get lazy when its really slow..." how is that a legitimate excuse to give your customers?? will not go back to this jake's.

stopped in for a burger during a busy lunch service. basket had an off odor like old grease. been a fan since 1985 when first jake's opened in dallas. new locations seem to be hit or miss.

burger was ok. it would have been great if the menu would have told me that the atkins special doesn't come on bun. the menu clearly states all burgers come on bun. nothing special about this place. would rather eat at hop doddys for a burger.

very disappointing!!!. i have been to jake's in grapevine twice now. the first time we waited 15 minutes before anyone noticed we were there! the second time was this last weekend and we waited 20 minutes and left! we will never go back, even if the food is good!!!
