indique is a rooftop restaurant intelligently tucked in an old haveli named as "pal haveli", situated just beside the old town market. restaurant can be approached by lift conveniently or by stairs, it’s completely up to you. it is in the close vicinity to all the city’s famous monuments be it the gigantic "mehrangarh fort", or “clock tower" or the famous old market for the traditional rajasthani shopping. one should definitely pay them a visit in the evening after sunset since only then you will be able to soak in the mesmerizing view of this beautiful city with candle light dinner voila. but do make sure to grab a place early in the evening before 7:30 as only then you will be able to view magnificent beauty of fort in fort lights which generally get switched by that time. also it might be hard for you to get a place there as people have no rush of leaving this place soon (yupp that includes me as well, i think i was settled there for 3 hour or might be more than that who knows :p). the surprising fact is that despite of having limited seating capacity no one from the restaurant crew will make you hurry or gulp down your food. overall i would say intelligent choice of the owner to open a restaurant there since the city itself create a magical ambience, and they utilized this fact very well. this place isn’t being boarded by some extra ambience related efforts apart from adding some lush green plants, nice dim light at the floor around the border walls, candle lights added to the tables and an open bar with a rajasthani carabina touch to it. musssssssssssstttttttttttttt visit place.
after talking a lot about the look and feel about the place let’s come to the food that they offer. one can choose from continental and north indian dishes, only bummer for us was that they have very few things to eat for veg lovers, yaaa yaa all non veg lovers good news for you. so from quite a few dishes as we chose to order mix platter (veg.) as an appetizer and vegetable au gratin as a main-course.
mix platter (veg.) - platter was having paneer tikka, hara bhara kabab, stuffed mushroom and galouti kebabs accompanied with salad. my taste buds still remember the taste mind blowing, all dishes served were cooked, flavored to perfection. paneer tikka was properly marinated seasoned and grilled, galouti and hara bhara kababs were moist, soft, yet the crunch was not missing. stuffed mushroom were having ample filling, soused and cooked well.
vegetable au gratin- we were a bit dicey before ordering this as we haven’t expected that rajasthani type of restaurant can prepare this. creamy sauce was soooo yum, wasn’t having even a single lump of flour which you can figure out easily if it would have been made by some ordinary cook, vegetables were cooked properly however it could be top notch iffff before baking it was sprinkled with the cheese on top and then baked as it was missing the usp of the dish that lightly browned cheese melts. taste wise we relished the whole meal, however presentation could be improved.
staff was well dressed with turban and all, well spoken, however the service was pretttyyyy bad as we have to call them quite a few times to take order and then we waited a lot for our meal to be set. if the service was not amiss, i would have given them five out of five, so i would definitely suggest them to improve it and make their staff a bit attentive.
