what a divine dining experience. i am still in awe of the flavour tsunami i took over my palate & overwhelming with not one but every element of the whole evening out at ida.

quaint, whimsical and magical as the ambiance is, the food & bar concoctions surprise with attention to detail & intricacy of recipes.

the menu is just big enough to give you options but not confuse you.
we tried some 16 dishes give or take and every one managed to wow us.

recommendations-
curried fried calamari- i mean woaaaa, deep fried with specs of fried curry leaf powder. too damn good!
prawn popcorn was super super super good, crunchy tiny prawn bites, deep fried, crispy & tossed in a spicy piri piri dust, much like kfc popcorn but better.
beef chilly fry- so tender & loaded with a masala fry mix, aromatic & again, flavoured hugely.
mushroom galouti, most creamy & intense galouti, wow
cheesey poi bites were a take on the classic chilly cheese toast, very very cheesey & well done.
chicken bruschetta, fresh, chunky & delish.
beef steak, so well done, tender- so juicy served with a side of a meaty mushroom jus.
amaranth spaghetti, the red beetroot pasta was creamy and again spot on in terms of flavours.

desserts were great, light & not overly sweet.
loved the dark chocolate panna cotta & caramel custard.

cocktails are 12/10
i have had several before, didn’t drink on this particular night but they do one of the best cocktails in goa.

service was a big plus, the servers were polite, courteous & the service was darn quick & efficient.
food arrived ingoodtime, and for someone as impatient as me, i was very happy with service.

highly recommeded

calm place, they have a few dogs here, food takes a bit time to prepare but the people in charge are polite👌
this isnt pocket a pocket friendly, more on the expensive side and the portion sizes of mains are just enough for one person but some reallygoodfood.
the peri peri chicken was decent, but loved the sauce.
fish curry was also amazing, recommended but the dish i loved the most and quite surprising too, was pineapple chicken. not sure why people dislike pineapple in food, those people wouldn't say so if they have this dish. it is quite juicy, gives you the same burning sensation when you eat a pineapple and the salad with it tastes amazing too. 10/10 recommend.

if you're looking to havegoodfood (i mean reallygoodfood), kickass cocktails and amazing ambience, this is the place you must visit. chef, mrs thappa is brilliant in every thing she makes. on my 5 days trip to goa, i ended up eating 4 meals there itself. on the first visit, with recommendation of the chef, we ordered porca bombs, it was so flavourful, i still have the taste of it in my mouth while writing about it. the best part about the food is, they freshly make everything, and do not use any canned products. along with the great food, they have a great variety of cocktails, a simple gin and tonic also tastes so good, aneesha has her special tricks to make the drinks tasty and get you drunk at the same time.

had a great evening with friends at comida caseira near vagator beech. the ambience is neatly done with some soft music playing in the background, the people serving you are polite and attentive, goodselection of beverage menu.
but the best part is the food. while having a chat with the owners who are also the chef's, got to know the secret behind the delicious food. they give a lot of importance to the freshness of the ingredients they use.
tried the beef rissois, lemon butter garlic squids, beef chilli fry, rum braised pork chop.
don't miss the desserts, i tried the creme caramel, pina colada pannacotta and the classic portuguese dessert serradurra.

it's a peaceful place, far away from the "lit" scenes. but, the food isgoodand the drinks are also great. i ordered a cabo and coconut water drink which was served in a coconut itself. it was amazing. and i'd highly recommend it.

this review is long overdue, coming after multiple visits and lord only knows how many hours spent redefining gluttony. comida caseira is a homestyle restaurant, run by an incredibly warm family serving goan-portuguese dishes from recipes handed down the family. the ambience is cozy and relaxed, order a drink and you’re not going to want to get up.

now to the meat of the matter: food and booze.

a prettygoodselection of beers, including draught beers from susegado, the dorado and trigo, both well stored and properly poured. if you’re in a mood to relax and chill out, the g&t’s are a no brainer, with stranger and sons gin and svami’s tonic water. (hint, ask for the cucumber.) or if you want a cocktail, i’ve found myself leaning more towards the bartender’s choice. recently i had a coconut-grapefruit margarita that went down way too smooth and fast. fruity, balanced and a silky mouthfeel, agoodway to get a buzz during the day.

heads up: food is going to take a while because they make everything from scratch, to order. so order fast, sip a drink and salivate. it’s definitely worth the wait. and did i mention munch on chips and a tasty garlic-yogurt dip while you wait?

i’ve eaten there too often to cover all the dishes i’ve tasted, so here’s a few and more later on. for appetizers a must try are the porca bombs: golgappas stuffed with tender pulled pork. tangy, mildly spicy and incredibly flavorful.

the beef and chicken rissois are freshly made, golden fried pockets with a piping hot filling. definitely order if you’re having a beer. and of course, the beer battered prawns. not something i tend to order, usually being clichéd and a boring dish, but in this case, these prawns are a revelation. the batter is light, fluffy and moist, with quite a bit of beer in there.

for the mains, if you’re in a group and want to try a variety, the goa on a plate is a must have. chicken cafreal with fresh cafreal masala was vibrant, succulent and tangy vindaloo and a chorizo fry that you’re gonna wanna scoop up with the goan poi on the side, served along with fresh cooked local rice.

the rum braised pork chops are as described, fork tender and dripping with rum. soak up the sauce with the bread and order your own, because you won’t want to share.

the prawn curry is rich, creamy, tangy and loaded with fresh coconut milk, definitely not the usual goan prawn curry you’ll find at most local restaurants. ditch the spoon and eat with your hands, it’s the only way.

for dessert, my favourite by far is the caramel custard. perfectly balanced, silky and melts in your mouth. reminded me of my mom’s the first time i had it and every time i’ve taken a friend to try it, it’s like the scene in ratatouille where the critic first tastes the ratatouille. even if you’re full, go for it. it fits into that extra dessert compartment everyone has in their stomachs.

a special mention: the loaded butter chicken and the sol kadhi. not on the menu, but often there on the specials menu or if you ask ahead. the butter chicken is loaded with tomatoes, butter and fragrant kasturi methi, served with khasta roti loaded with ghee. needed a nap after i ate this.

the sol kadhi is from a family recipe and is again made with fresh coconut milk and the perfect accompaniment to the prawns and the fish. only reason i had only two glasses last time was because they ran out.

prices can seem a bit high but the portions are actually pretty big. then again, you’ll want to order a lot of things.

if you’re around the area, it’s well worth the trip.

my girlfriend and i visited this restaurant on new years eve, we really enjoyed the place and it certainly created a night to remember. the staff are super friendly and attentive, the cocktails were unique (my girlfriend loved the cocco vita and i quenched my thirst with the on tap mango barley larger) the food is delicious, my favourite starter was the beer battered shrimp (fresh local shrimp fried in a fluffy beer batter) and the goa on a plate is reallygoodgiving one a chance to sample various goan specialties. to finish the evening off we had the creamy pina collada panacotta served with fresh fruit! all in all a superb option not to be missed, we will be returning for sure.
