wonderful server. my business is all about customer service. it is the driving force behind the company i work for. my husband and i went to ichiban for a mini celebration for his new job and refreshment for me because i was in one of those moods where i just wanted to relax and breathe and take in the craziness of my day one piece at a time. as we were looking over all the delicious sushi choices, i could hear a server talking to folks about her garden issues and it was a full on conversation. when she came to take our order, i just wanted a nice glass of wine. she was so complimentary over the choices i made i wasn't quite sure how i felt about it; i mean i'm the one always concerned with customer service and here was someone taking the time to do it for me. it wasn't until we got involved in this conversation as she poured a glass of wine and commented on what a perfect size the wine bottle lid was for a peppermint patty recipe she had been wanting to try that i realized, " here is an interesting person" i immediately got involved with her in this conversation. peppermint patties just happen to be my favorite candy in the world. she took the time to write down the website that she had gotten the recipe from and we talked about our ideas for budgeting and making creative gifts for others. i watched her approach the next table and before you knew it she was involved in a completely new conversation with the next table. i understand this website is all about food. the food was delicious but honestly, customer service is something that makes what you are enjoying even better. so when you go see if dawn is serving.

i have been going here for 10 years. the food is always amazing and the service is great. they know myself and family by name. love this place!

i've been coming to ichiban since i can remember (at least 20 years!). they know my family by name and are genuinely interested in our lives! i can't not say enough about the quality of their sushi and other food items! they are consistent and i know exactly what to expect every time! the owners are about the nicest people you'll ever meet and their kids help out on busy nights!
my favorite roll is the ichicban roll which is a smaller version of a rainbow roll. but, honestly, you cannot go wrong with any of your sushi choices! the baked green mussels are incredible as well!
from the main menu, my son loves their chicken udon soup and my daughter inhales their buttered salmon! their house salad is also incredible!

the best sushi in winston salem and most reasonably priced. service is exceptional too. if you are not in the mood for sushi, try the special beef platter. their ginger salad dressing is also great.

yum!. delicious, fresh food, friendly service and wow what a value!
portions are huge and a whole meal (including salad or soup) is about $7.

i had a horrific dining experience at ichiban today. i have greatly enjoyed sushi here in the past, especially the excellent quality of the fresh salmon, so it was doubly shocking to me to have such a negative experience here. our waitress was very inexperienced and uninformed as to menu item availability and preparation, but was able to ask another server and bring back satisfactory answers. my dining companion and i began our meal with the vietnamese beef salad, which neither of us will order again. there were shreds of overcooked grey meat hidden under piles of pickled onions draped with possible dried fish shreds instead of a more familiar preparation featuring cilantro, red onion, and lime juice. the miso soup was decent, salty but flavorful, but the true horribleness of the meal came accompanied by the distinct odor of bleach while i was working on my seaweed salad. i went from having a curious dining adventure to fighting not to lose what i had just eaten all over the place in an instant. then after a few deep breaths and more nauseating wafts of bleach, i realized it was coming both from the dish room into the dining area and from my teacup... my green tea smelled and tasted distinctly of bleach, leaving me unable to do anything but visit the restroom immediately. i will not eat here again.

love it!. i crave ichiban all the time! the entrees, i will admit, are not my favorite (although a lot of food). the soups and sushi are great, though! their ichiban soup and the ichiban roll are the best (and the rolls are cheap). but, the reason i felt the need to review is, simply, the ginger salad dressing. my entire family has been going buy and just buying the dressing to go. it is, hands down, the best i have ever had. try it!

ichiban is consistently good and consistently cheaper than ish or mizu. this is usually my go-to place. quality and creativity isn’t quite as high as the others but i’ve never had anything i didn’t like. i particularly like their snow mountain roll and salem roll.

this is one of the best places to get the udon noodles in winston salem.

good food and cheap. me and my friend have been eating here on a regular bases since we could drive. every time we come home from college we meet here. they have great food and you get lots of it. i also hear the sushi here is great.

i love sushi and have eaten it all across the country, ichiban is still my favorite. they have a good assortment and it is always fresh. the crunchy roll and the valentine roll are my favorite. the other is japanese fare is good as well for the price.

consistent sushi. i always get the dragon roll/rainbow roll, and mushroom / miso soup.
service and food consistently above average along with reasonable prices and a relaxed, yet express-like ambiance.

fast food, but nice atmosphere under the circumstances of restaurant set up.
