horrible service. slow and unresponsive. very disappointed.

awesome service at the bar with andrew! food was outstanding. we shared the tamale appetizer. they were amazing. i had the spinach salad with grilled chicken and it was perfect. my fella had the chicken fried chicken and it was amazing. and we had the chocolate ganache ice cream for dessert which was ridiculously good.

i am just going to say this out front, i don't get the hype on the fries. that being said, hyde park grill is a fine restaurant. i didn't get anything that stood out for brunch, with the exception of the grapefruit mimosa. it was fresh grapefruit juice and was heavy with the champagne.

great service, atmosphere, ok food. got what i expected here. averagely priced, pub style food with great service.

bad customer service. we walked in tonight and no one was at the door and didn't get acknowledged by any of the workers. we had to ask the bar tender was someone coming and she cut us off saying someone would be right with us. we looked around and it wasn't busy and we saw 3 guys in black who we couldn't tell if they worked there or not. after the bartender told us someone was coming and we didn't see anyone walking toward us, we decided to leave. one of the guys who was talking and saw us standing there the whole time walked up to us, but there was no way they were getting our business.

yankee crab cakes*. title is what's on the menu. do not know what the asterisk is for. we ordered 2 take out crab cake meals and the gentleman said each order comes with a lettuce wedge. what we got was one crab cake in each order (menu says cakes) always was two crab cakes before. "wedge" was written on each order box and when opened, there was no wedge but very small pieces of lettuce (looked like it had been stirred around, a handful of parsley all over everything and the crab cake was swimming in thousand island dressing. nothing matched the menu and its description! btw, saw another review about something missing from the collard greens...it's the bacon that's missing. previously it was laden with small bits of bacon, my last order had about 5 little pieces in it. the amount of bacon made that recipe wonderful! the mashed potatoes are just that, used to be garlic mashed potatoes that were mmmm good. very disappointing!

going downhill. we have been regular patrons of hyde park bar and grill for over 15 years. it has always been a great place to eat, with good service and atmosphere. now that we have more meals at home with our young kids, we often order hyde park to pick up. the last two times we have gotten our order, the food is different. the ingredients don't seem as high quality, and they have changed things. i always get thousand island dressing, and it was great before. now it's inedible. it's really gross and tastes like liquid smoke. the grilled chicken is bland, tastes like it was also poached, and not the type of food they used to serve. i don't know what has happened. it's disappointing from a place that used to be so reliable.

disappointing. after moving away from austin one thing we missed was dining at hyde park grill. after about 6 months of not visiting, our long await was near. we were highly disaapointed with the new menu change, raised prices, and attempt to change the experience with all the "fancy" steel bowls. the chicken fried steak portion was literally half of what it used to be, the mashed potatoes were served luke warm, and the fries were overcooked. the bbq brocolli was good and the collard greens were ok but my partner said something was missing from them.

i would like to think this was an isolated incident and that the steak portion was a mistake- our server didnt seem to concerned with our concerns.

nice surprise. my wife and i were in austin, and reading reviews we tried this place. the interior is very comfortable with pleasant lighting. we tried the "famous" fries. they were soaked in buttermilk and coated and fried. a crisp spicy outside with a twangy inside. the sauce worked well. i had the pan roasted chicken. they managed to serve very moist marinated breast with a crisp skin. the pork cutlet was very thin and crisp, like schnitzel. the best side was the macaroni and cheese. casserole baked with a blend of cheese. the desserts were rich and decadent made with real vanilla pods.

great menu choices! great atmosphere...lots of natural light.

i've eaten here about 5 times over the last 2 years both dinner and lunch. i've thoroughly enjoyed every meal and so have my customers and my wife. it's on my short list of favorites and always tasty meals. i don't think you'll be disappointed

hyde park bar and grill is one of those places that i find uniquely austin.

to be fair, "the horseshoe" is truly greater than the sum of its parts. my first was a much better burger.

you can't skip the fries, and just about everything is good

i really like the food here, but why do i have to put up with consistent bad service.
