i decided to try a restaurant in murrell's inlet since myrtle beach restaurants are an epic fail. found this place on yelp and decided to try it. the inside is nice and there's also a great view of the marsh. the front chairs outside on the porch had lots of pollen on them, so a good wipe down could've been great for guests to sit. all restaurants should remember it's the small details that customers see and hold in their minds as a decision to return to a restaurant or not, also including what their food consists of as well. first up, i tried the corn chowder which tasted pretty good but wasn't hot enough and was a bit too thick in texture. next i tried the she crab soup which was really disgusting, so i sent it back. for my entree, i tried the crab stuffed shrimp which came with grilled veggies and rice on the side. the shrimp were pretty bland and could've used a little seasoning and could've been grilled because they had more of a boiled taste to them. the crab stuffing just wasn't good. the rice was cold, bland and gummy. the grilled veggies had the right taste but unfortunately they were still a bit too raw, so they had a big bite to them. the waiter was really great and he helps design some of the menu items. he replaced my veggies with whole fried okra. i thought it would be good but it wasn't. the failure was frying whole okra. the batter had a good flavor but it slid right off the okra when trying to bite into it. you couldn't get your teeth through the okra because it just wasn't cooked thoroughly and still had that slimy okra texture to the skin. slicing the okra into small pieces would've insured they were cooked throughout. to me, they could use a lot of updating on the food, textures, flavors and heating preparation. some of the food almost made me believe it wasn't cooked upon order. it seems as if some of the items were already made previously. i was told they are in the process of changing some things on the menu, and the okra was one. the crab stuffing should be changed as well, it should have more of a fresh crab, minus whatever else is mixed in it. and they could do without the bread biscuits or whatever they are called. if the menu and items change, i'd go back and give them another try. i hope the chef sees my concerns and take them into consideration. my drink by the way was the best thing i had at the restaurant.
