excellent beer selection, burgers and dessert.
if you get all three it's a good night but will definitely hurt the next day.
went here so much my cholesterol went up, so now just get the chicken which is always nicely cooked. everything on the menu is amazing, but i usually roll with the pickle back. which i customize but won't say how i customize it cause it's like having the crabby patty formula. top secret.
fries selection is creative and delicious. served in a cute little basket which somehow makes me feel better about eating the fries.

by greg & jenn • march 22, 2015 it was a saturday night and jenn and i decided to take kaci, our oldest daughter, to get a burger from a place we had been wanting to try “hops burger bar”. we have attempted to eat at hops before, but we had our youngest with us at the time and this isn’t really the kind of place that you want to wait an hour with a two year old (in fact i don’t want to wait an hour with a two year old anywhere). with the crowd in mind we left high point around 5pm in order to try and beat some of the crowd that seems to be standard here. unlike our previous attempt, the host recognized our attempt at patronizing the place and put our name on a waiting list and we were told it would be about 30 minutes, which is not too bad for a saturday night. the restaurant is small with a couple of tables, booth’s and a bar that lines the back of the restaurant. the bar is first come first serve. there is a patio with tables on the right side of the building, but this was about two weekends ago and it was still a little chilly this particular evening. within about 45 minutes we were sat at a booth and were pretty hungry by this point. our server greeted us after a couple of minutes and took our orders. we started out with an order of the “carolina red onion rings”. these onion rings had just the right amount of batter to compliment the fresh and crisp onions that it encapsulated. they were tasty, not too greasy and cooked just right. the sauce served with them seemed to be a remoulade, but we opted for ketchup instead. onto the reason we came, the burgers. kaci decided on a “create your own burger” and went with the beef burger with bacon, lettuce, onion, pickles and ketchup. she seemed to enjoy it but was only able to finish about half of it. the burgers are not huge but they are plenty big for one person, especially a 10 year old. hops also boasts a “wall of fries” in which you can choose from a variety of different styled flavors. kaci chose her favorite “chil

best vegetarian burger, period.. i have never had such a delicious vegetarian burger as the 'nutty patty' this place makes. it doesn't try to be meat, and it's not overtly black bean, either. it's crunchy and savory and has fun things like sunflower seeds throughout. my carnivore fiance even steals bites because he thinks it is so good! if you're a vegetarian looking for something different and delicious, definitely try the carolina goat with no bacon, on a nutty patty. i'm salivating just thinking about it :p

stand and wait for no good reason. we visit greensboro frequently but will not return to this restaurant. the 3 of us and other groups of 3 or 4 waited for 30 minutes while a couple sat at a front table in full view of the door drinking beer and watching the e c u football game. they had finished their food and requested the tv be turned to the game. he nursed beer and watched the game. the manager told me that he felt it was the man's right to sit there as long as he wanted. he felt asking him to move to the bar where he could watch the same game would be rude and the man might never return. he elaborated that a group had kept a table for 6 hours the previous night. the wait person got a $6.00 tip. our meal for 3 was $ 70.00. the service was average and the food was excellent. it is a shame that you know when you go there that you could have to wait an extended period if time while others sit. there for hours.

youthful vibe, good waitstaff, huge burgers, priced right. hops burger bar technically may not be a college hangout, but it has that vibe.

on a friday night, there was a 45-minute wait, but we found seats at the bar (thanks to a nice guy who gave up one of his party's seats) and ate there.

the burgers are huge, and they come with very good regular fries or sweet potato fries. i had the classic with regular fries (about $8), and my wife had the cuban cow with sweet potato fries.

with two burgers and fries, an appetizer of red onion rings (just so-so, a bit greasy) and a total of three craft beer drafts, our meal came to just $39 (plus my usual generous tip) -- a real bargain.

the waitstaff was really on top of things, and the crowd seemed happy to be there.

i'd definitely go back.

fish sandwich is awesome, too. wow, tried their beer battered haddock sandwich (can't always choose the burger, right?), and it was outstanding - nice batter, not at all greasy, and the fish was tender and flakey with great fish flavor. and it was huge, it was hanging out both sides of the bun.

a better burger. our first visit here for lunch today was a nice experience. the place is small, well decorated in the style of a bar with good pub food and big screen tvs - there is also some patio seating.

they offer 8 "named" house burgers (6 or 8 oz for $8/$9 with a side), or you can build your own - this can get a little pricey depending on your toppings. a 6 oz burger with jalapenos, pepperjack cheese, and grilled onions billed out at $8.50, but you get a side - one of big burger spots large burgers run $7 without a side.

the burger itself here is simply excellent - very flavorful with a slight touch of greasiness that makes a good burger - only angus meat is used. i would go with the brioche, and would definitely skip the potato roll, both flavor and texture are off, imho. only mis-step was the burger was somewhat rarer than medium.

the ff are awesome, well cut and fried to the perfect crispness, even fairly well salted. the side slad with blue cheese dressing was also nice - lots of cheese crumbles in the dressing. they offer home made chips but they are of the sweet potato variety and i only eat sweet potatoes in casseroles, and then only on selected holidays when turkey is served.

this large style burger (as opposed to the smaller diner/cafe burgers served at danny's or oakcrest) is right up there with big burger spot and emma kay's as the best of its style in the triad.

they have a small lot, and parking can be a problem, especially when josephine's next door is busy.

southern-style burger joint done right. plenty of burger joints around the country follow the formula of a two-page menu, a cornucopia of options with fries, customizable artisan toppings and craft beer. hops burger bar executes this well and would easily be a stand-by if i lived in the area. parking isn’t the most obvious, but there is plenty of space on the streets surrounding the restaurant. - -

one oddity about this establishment is the very wide/deep bar, but that doesn’t dampen the experience or quality of the food, which is delicious. vegetarian options, both a southern-style veggie burger and a mushroom & cauliflower burger, compliment the certified angus beef patties, in two different sizes. - -

there are a handful of appetizers, including wings, and even a few salads. relatively limited seating, but event plenty of options with buns, including a pretzel roll or gluten free bun. i’m a fan!

best burgers and beer in town!. hops takes the title! incredible burgers and the most expansive rotating draught list in greensboro. if you are a beer geek this is the place for you! they don't have the largest list in greensboro but they do have the most well put together list in the triad. the burgers are out of this world. if you want the freshest most flavorful beef, local produce and local dairy this is the place for you.

some things should be inhaled. met two of my friends here last night for a bite to eat and to catch up. great crowd on a monday evening and very laid back vibe. no appetizers here....straight in for the kill. items enjoyed....
1- diablo burger but substituted grilled chicken. not a problem, more than happy to accommodate my request. pepper jack cheese ( my favorite ), jalapenos, grilled onions, guacamole and jalapeno bacon. this is where the inhaling occurred. it was absolutely delicious. side salad.
2- the hops classic is your standard perfect go to hamburger. my friend ordered this along with sweet potato fries. the sweet potato fries are tossed in sugar and cinnamon and are absolutely to die for. thank goodness for friends that will share. we lost contact with her as she too proceeded to inhale her burger.
3- the angry avocado was the third sandwich of choice. funny when the server approached the table addressed our other friend by saying " angry avocado, on pretzel bun, hold the bacon". apparently our friend had enjoyed this little delight more than once. lol. she had the parmesan truffle fries as a side and holy cow....yummy!!!!!!!!!!
server was fantastic, friendly and well informed. food was delicious, fresh and served hot.
hops was recently voted by the readers choice in the local paper as best hamburger and also received recognition as runner up as best new restaurant. keep up the great job and your accolades are well deserved.

great burgers the awards are spot on. i think its pretty sad when competitors post fake bad reviews on their competition. i've eaten at this place 20 times and have never had a tasteless burger and the place is beautiful inside. the two identical bad reviews are from their competition down the street. very sad. haters will be haters!

incredible. we had our second meal here last night and it was awesome! the north carolinian is definitely their best burger. also if your into goat cheese the "peppered goat cheese" appetizer was right on point! this place is really special and will continue to be our favorite burger joint in greensboro!

the restaurant smelled like an old moldy bar. the burger was tasteless, and the bread was thick and chewy. i'm not sure how this got rated as the best burger in the triad.

worst parking accommodations. just wanted to let everyone in greensboro to know please don't ever patronize this place, i attempted to get a bite to eat the other day for the first time but unfortunately ownerhship only has 7 parking spaces available for their customers, what kind of customer service is that, i tried to park at a few other spots close by by was threatened with getting towed, so i can't & won't patronize a restaurant with these type of accommodations & i would advise the city of greensboro to do the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
