hob nob

i am disgusted—hob nob has lost my business forever. 

we were excited to try this place because it's close to the grand and wright park, and my wife and i took my brother on his birthday (today) for lunch before heading to a matinee. since my brother carries a large backpack, i asked the hostess before he arrived if they had a place he could store it so it wouldn't crowd our booth, and she said he could put it under an empty table behind us since they weren't crowded (about 5 groups, including us, for most of our meal). 

when we were getting ready to leave we found out someone had removed his backpack and jacket, and put them out on the street! our waitress blamed the hostess (despite the hostess having told us to put it there). i have no idea who's fault it was, only that we've never felt so disrespected at a restaurant—especially after spending $60 on a meal! thankfully my brother's wallet wasn't stolen out of his jacket, or his other valuables, despite being left on the curb for at least 20 minutes or so.

 food was decent, but overpriced, diner-ish staples. waitress forgot my brother's coffee and tried to rush him into finishing/boxing up despite the restaurant only being 25% full, and us having only received our food 20 min before.

i grew up in this place, my mother worked here i did help out from time to time and had the luxury of having meals here, its some of the best cafe food period.

dissapointed!!. a friend and i stopped in today for lunch. i ordered a monte cristo sandwich that had a slice of very thin ham that was very dehydrated and some very dry turkey. the bread [french toast] was also very dry. it was served with no jam or powdered sugar. when i asked for jam i was given 2 tiny frozen jam containers. this place used to be very good, but something has sure changed. [not for the good} it is a shame to see a place that has been around for so long go down the drain. maybe whoever owns it is getting too tired to care anymore.

new menu. we've been going to the "nob" for a couple of years now. this is a great place to grab dinner before a movie at the grand or a walk in the park. the old menu was good diner fare, no complaints. the drinks were the standards and well made. we've been back twice since the new menu and we are still pretty happy. the 'southern' menu looks good and there is still something for everyone. the new drink menu looks great, so far only tried a pimm's cup, pretty darn good. really looking forward to trying on the aged manhattans. so far we've tried a turkey burger and hamburger. both were very good. the wait staff is very friendly and customer service oriented, nice to see.

sad!! new management does not have a clue. new management comes in and gets s rid of loyal employees and brings in friends from a run down puyallup establishment who are younger and cuter than the established employees to supposedly bring in business. ..sorry...it's stinking hilltop...don't think the business will come flocking in to see the inexperienced bartenders! the regulars who will not come in any longer spent dollars that will be spent elsewhere...keep the littke bearded guy who dreams ...but has no clue...our money is well spent elsewhere. .and so the word is spread...sad!

i went to the hob nob for breakfast. the atmosphere is warm and cozy. the waiter was extremely kind and courteous. i had the breakfast scramble (without gravy). it was a lot of food and very delicious. i will come back!

yesterday i went to the hob nob for the first time. i ordered eggs benedict, which was great. glad to have found a place that gives me the small town hospitality that i miss!

this place is great. great customer service, great location and some great food! i got a sirloin steak and it was fabulous! our waitress was so sweet and polite. it's located right next to wright park and would be a great place to eat in the summer!

good food, poor service!. i just tried this place out today for the first time with my boyfriend. we were seated immediately, which was nice. however, after that, the service went downhill from there. we ordered their famous biscuits and gravy with eggs and choice of meat. i didn't think that the gravy was anything out of the ordinary to be honest. i was a bit disappointed by their home fries as well. they seemed to be deep fried and not homemade like i had expected (try the homefries at kelly's kafe in spanaway if you're looking for some good eats!) our server failed to ask us if our food was good and eventually brought us our check without asking if we would like anything else. we got up to cash out and the girl who rang us up couldn't seem more inconvenienced. she didn't say a single word to us except for, "sign here"! we were taken back and said "thanks!" to which we didn't even receive a reply. i'm more about customer service than the quality of food and i must say i was very disappointed. i'm not sure if i feel like going back to give this place another shot.

hob nob. great meeting and eating place. been going there for many many years . i remember the place as a little girl.
great meeting place to meet and greet couch surfers in the area. they all love the place.

i had a great breakfast. the biscuit and gravy was awesome.

comfortable and tasty. we dined there yesterday (nov. 21, 2010). they were happy to accomodate our large group (7) that walked in without a reservation. (i appreciated that). we thought services were good, unobtrusive. very comfortable atmosphere.
among us, we tried sandwich, omellete, entree salads, pasta. all were good (no complaints anyway from any of the party). portion sizes good. we were all quite satisfied.

inconsistent. i actually loved my breakfast that i ordered and had no problems with it, but my husband ordered his eggs over medium and they were runny at best, and my uncle's hash browns were not just cold, but a little icy in the middle. gross. i ordered the pancakes and had a wonderful experience, but i felt guilty saying so because 2 of the 4 people at our table had a not-so-great trial run at the hob nob.
