great evening out for a family celebration! nancy, our waitress, was friendly and attentive. when someone in our party asked about the broth in the seafood stew, she brought out a sample with bread to dip in it. awesome! great selection of fish and shellfish. best in providence. the carnivores will be disappointed but if you want meat, you shouldnt be going there!

signature chowder was wonderfully thick, salmon special with lobster and strawberry butter was extremely flavorful and most importantly,our server, nancy from scotland, was gracious and got us excited about our selections.

went here for my wife's birthday because she loves seafood and i had seen this recommended for seafood. we were not disappointed. we both enjoyed the oysters hemenway and lobster with shrimp/scallop/crab stuffing. we had a pleasant surprise that they were offering half-price wine on sunday, so we were able to, with no price guilt, cap the special dinner with a better bottle of champagne than we otherwise would have ordered.

the staff, especially our waiter, were wonderful in making us feel welcome and pampered.

we went dressy for the special occasion and felt good about it, but there were also people there dressed more casually. it was all ok.

pricey, yes. worth it, yes.

central location and great seafood. the ambiance is nice and cozy. it looks at the river with a nice view. service is good as well. overall, i recommend this restaurant.

great seafood, great steaks. very good if you feel like seafood. definitely our go-to seafood place in the area. at times gets a bit busy so make sure you make a reservation, but that's a good thing!! service is consistently up to par. only thing that kinda stinks is parking, but it is what it is. there are a bunch of bars you can shoot over to after dinner as well.

it is great! sea food cesar salad is one of the best i ever had. the service is excellent and the atmosphere and ambiance is classic and casual at the same time.

loved it!. someone we met in warwick who used to live in providence recommended hemenway's as a great place to go on the last night of our vacation. she was spot on. the food and drinks were wonderful and the service was superb! we will be back.

tough lobster. had an okay meal at hemenways. the littlenecks were delicious and they had a great assortment of clams and oysters. however, the lobster mac and cheese wasn't very good. my lobster was soo tough i could not chew it.

been twice when in town. great both times. the calamari appetizer is great (although a bit sweet after you eat half of it). apple pie moonshine drink is amazing!

waterfront gem. the quality of the seafood is stellar and the service is immaculate. with most steakhouses, they have seafood because it's expected. this seafood grill is spot on with all of the dishes. lobster ravioli, fried oysters, and local fresh shucked oysters are all excellent. this will be my go-to spot in providence.

i think hemenway's is one of the most stunning restaurant spaces in providence. the floor to ceiling windows provides a lot of light and views of the city. on the night i visited recently, the restaurant was decorated for the holidays, and the room was filled with people in the festive spirit. the restaurant was bustling with a wedding party, and every table filled

pan roasted rainbow trout. horrible. clearly i should have gone with the multitude of lobster or oysters. however, i wanted an ocean fish besides swordfish. no dice. it was overcooked with no flavor n sight. they mainly had potatoes as a side which i also declined. i had green beans that were cooked appropriately but so doused in garlic i could taste it the next day. completely unimaginative. the lobster ravioli appetizer was better. stick with the specialties of the house. all else is rather disappointing.

delicious food and very courteous staff. they even made sure to prepare our food in a separate side of the kitchen when they heard we had a shrimp allergy at our table. highly recommended.
